Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 512: Chapter 229: Evil Power Sorcery Formation (Two-In-One Mega Chapter)

Earl Habs Mansion, inside the study.

A gaunt middle-aged man dressed in a gray wizard robe sat before the desk and said, “My lord, are you really not going to remind Alonso?”

“Have I not reminded him before?” Count Habbs, his face showing irritation, stood up and said.

“Everyone must be responsible for their actions! Besides, once I remind him, it’s very likely that not only he will be alerted.”

As Count Habbs spoke, he walked to the front of the desk, standing beside the gray-robed figure, and he asked, turning his head:

“By the way, old friend, you had some free time to come to see me today. It can’t just be for a simple visit, can it? Has the higher-up already prepared to make a move?”

The gray-robed middle-aged man did not directly answer Count Habbs’s question. Instead, he said, “My lord, do you remember that Great Knight of the Zaral Rebellion who died from severe poisoning in the prison last time?”

Count Habbs was taken aback, then nodded his head and said, “That matter was my oversight; I did not expect that even the Meist prison would be infiltrated by the rebels.”

Recalling the scene, although he had carried out a large-scale investigation to eliminate the rebel spy in the prison after rushing back from Rosby City, he had missed the opportunity to extract vital information from that Great Knight of the rebellion.

Indeed, shortly after that, the body of that Great Knight vanished. Whenever he thought of those departments riddled with holes like a sieve, Count Habbs couldn’t help shivering with anger.

But this situation was not unique to Meist County; nearly the entire empire’s territory was the same, and what he could do was very limited.

“The man was not just poisoned to death, but even his body was…” Count Habbs shook his head, seemingly helpless.

“Actually, this might not necessarily be a bad thing.” The gray-robed middle-aged man smiled and continued, “In fact, I had placed something on that body. I am certain that it is still here in the County Town.”

“Oh? So you’ve known the exact location of that body after it was stolen?” Count Habbs raised an eyebrow, looking at him in surprise.

As the Empire’s Observer stationed in Meist County, he did not have the authority to demand an Observer to cooperate with his actions. But as the Governor of Meist, dealing with people and situations within the County Town that were beyond his control always felt somewhat unpleasant.

The gray-robed middle-aged man nodded and said, “Yes, behind this matter lies the shadow of the Black Flame Cult. I’ve learned that tonight there will be a banquet there, with many nobles in attendance.”

“That… Alonso is there as well.”

Hearing this, Count Habbs’s expression darkened.

Clearly, these nobles all had ties with the Cult, and there were not a few of them. Moreover, with Alonso being there, it made him even more passive.

“According to the Cult’s ritual of collecting offerings, the body of a Great Knight is very precious and they would inevitably be reluctant to let it go. Ever since the body of that Great Knight of the rebellion disappeared without a trace, I suspected it most likely ended up in the hands of a Cult.”

“Reliable information indicates there will be a grand Cult ritual tonight.”

“My lord, if you don’t send someone over there, it will be too late when the Sword Bearer arrives, after all, they don’t know Alonso.”

After a long while, Count Habbs let out a long sigh, his enthusiasm waning.

“Yes, they don’t know Alonso, nor would they think highly of me as the Earl. Let’s send someone to notify him, tell him I am urgently looking for him.”

At about the same time.

In the sky, not too far from Meist County City.

A ferocious creature, four to five meters in length, with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle, muscled body, and large wings, was flying at high speed.

However, surprisingly, this creature’s back was so stable that two people were sitting on it, and the air currents generated by the rapid flight circled around a bluish faint-glowing round shield and streamed swiftly backward.

The man sitting on the front saddle, a burly man with a shield on his back, was holding the reins and controlling the flight.

The man in the back holding a short staff then said, “Captain, why are we in such a hurry to ride a griffin to Meist County today? What is the mission that even requires your personal involvement?”

“It’s a rather important mission.” Since the operation had begun, there was no longer any need for secrecy. The burly man didn’t hesitate much and directly disclosed.

“According to reports from the local Observer, there is a Cult in Meist County that will hold a ritual tonight.”

“Does a Cult ritual really require the Sword Bearers to take action? Can’t the local Church of the Goddess handle it?” The man with the short staff couldn’t help expressing his doubts.

“Ordinary Cult rituals, of course not. But this Cult is likely to communicate with an Evil God during the ceremony, and perhaps we’ll manage to obtain a trace of the Evil God’s divine essence.”

“The divine essence of an Evil God? What do we need that stuff for?” Knowing the purpose of the divine essence of an Evil God, the man with the short staff looked surprised and also showed a hint of fear.

“It’s not us that want it, but the higher-ups do!” The burly man extended his finger upwards and said.

Meanwhile, on the other side.

Rein had already arrived at the door to Baron Elliott’s mansion.
