Chapter 545: Chapter 237: The Siege Hammer from Meister! (2-in-1 Mega Chapter)_2

The speaker here is Marquis Schlan, the head of public security in Mingster Province.

As the imperial department with the most frequent routine business dealings with the Sword Bearers, the relationship between the two is naturally much closer than with other departments.

Marquis Schlan attends and observes the Sword Bearer’s assessment nearly every year.

“Basic secret technique? I’m afraid not, what he just used must have been an Intermediate Secret Technique, right?” the old man with the delicate moustache said, a spark of interest flashing in his eyes.

At this moment, Admiral Edward nodded, saying, “Indeed, in terms of secret techniques, he should have already reached the intermediate level.”

“A young man with some kind of strength talent and who has mastered an Intermediate Secret Technique is interesting. It’s been several years since we last saw such a thing in the assessments, hasn’t it?” Marquis Schlan said with a smile.

Then, Admiral Edward turned his head to look at the middle-aged officer standing respectfully beside him and asked, “Where is the file on this young man?”

“Right here, Admiral Edward. Please wait a moment, I’ll bring it immediately.” The officer immediately turned and left.

“Admiral, I know this young man; he is Rein from the Meister County.”

The middle-aged man with the delicate moustache, dressed in a black hunting suit with gold trim, would have been recognized by Rein if he were present: he was Javier Stewart, a special envoy he had met once before.

As a special envoy sent by the Empire’s Council of Elders to the Mingster Province, his status was relatively detached. He had also received an invitation from the Sword Bearers to come and observe the assessments.

What he hadn’t expected was that this young man, whom he had seen potential in, would give him such a big surprise this time.

“Oh? Special Envoy, you know him?”

“I’ve met him once before, and I saw his potential then. This young man is the top performer in this noble title conferring assessment.”

“I see.” The two men beside him couldn’t help but nod slightly.

A few minutes later, the officer returned, distributing the file.

The few old men who received the file started to flip through it with curiosity.

“Eh? He’s only sixteen years old?” Admiral Edward said in surprise, and, in fact, except for Javier, everyone else exchanged glances in astonishment!

If he’s at this level at just sixteen, wouldn’t he be even more extraordinary in a few years?

Instantly, Rein’s talent and potential were elevated to a higher level in their minds.

Originally, they had thought that Rein must be about twenty years old. They had not expected him to be only sixteen.

One must know that the younger one is, the shorter the time for practicing combat skills, and another important point is that comprehension ability at a younger age is generally weaker than that after reaching adulthood.

To be able to master an Intermediate Secret Technique in such a short time and at such a young age was even rarer than the rare strength talent.

“Truly the top performer of this noble title conferring assessment.”

“So he is from Meister County, unexpectedly of commoner origin.”

—————–

In the center of the venue.

After the Obsidian Giant was seriously injured by Rein’s blow and knocked down, the Earth Wizard in charge of the assessment looked at the huge hole in the Obsidian Giant’s chest with a furrowed brow, deep in thought.

He had never considered that an examinee could harm his Earth elemental partner, the Obsidian Giant, to such a degree; although it wasn’t dead, the injury was too troublesome.

The problem now was, what to do with the remaining assessments?

This sort of rare elemental creature, the Obsidian Giant, he didn’t have a second one!

“Cough… Master Matthias, may I inquire if your Obsidian Giant can still…” the middle-aged Great Knight coughed and asked.

“It’s like this already, what do you think?” Matthias replied with irritation.

“So, does the assessment need to be postponed…” The middle-aged Great Knight’s face turned red, recalling the words he had said to Rein about giving it his all…

“It can only be postponed, unless…” Matthias revealed a contemplative look.

“Unless what?” Hearing that the elder might have a solution, the middle-aged Great Knight quickly asked, “Master Matthias, do you need something?”

After all, postponing the assessment was rather troublesome, and it would be better to continue if possible.

“Unless there’s a piece of Obsidian Essence, otherwise, I can’t heal the Obsidian Giant in a short time.” Matthias shook his head helplessly.

“Obsidian Essence?” The middle-aged Great Knight looked thoughtful and said, “Master, it seems we have that item in the branch, but, as per the rules, I need to apply for it immediately.”

Matthias was taken aback.

Right!

This was the Sword Holder Mingster Branch of the Empire.

When it came to priceless items, of course, the Empire’s Sword Bearers were the ones to have them!

“If there’s a piece of Obsidian Essence, I can heal the Obsidian Giant in about fifteen minutes.” Matthias confirmed with a definite nod.

“All right, Master Matthias, I’ll go apply for it right now!”

…

After an urgent consultation by the assessment committee, and having reported to their superiors, the middle-aged Great Knight once again announced, “Due to the Obsidian Giant’s injury, the assessment will now be paused for fifteen minutes.”

“Please, everyone, keep quiet. Master Matthias will treat the Obsidian Giant.”

The old man in the light yellow Wizard Robe held an object the size of a fist, emitting black light, in one hand, and a short wand in the other, chanting aloud.

A massive force of light yellow energy erupted from the ground, engulfing the entire huge body of the Obsidian Giant.

At the same time, the fist-sized strange object in his hand rose into the air, flying to the wound on the Obsidian Giant, where black light spilled out profusely, and the hole in its chest that was as large as a water barrel began to shrink at a rate visible to the naked eye.
