Chapter 508: Chapter 228 Evolution of the Greyhound (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)

Inside the pharmacy.

The beautiful woman, Jennifer, held an invitation in her hand and briefly explained the contents to Rein.

“Alonso invites you and me to a banquet?” Rein couldn’t help but feel a bit surprised.

Could it be that the other party wanted to mend their relationship with him?

Rein pondered.

Honestly, he wasn’t too interested in this matter because he was about to go to Mingster to participate in the “Sword Bearer” assessment.

Therefore, the superficial pleasantries amongst the nobility of Meister County had lost their significance to him.

Instead, his time was now quite precious, as Rein wanted to raise his Profession Level as a Pharmacist to lv5 before heading to Mingster and switch to the Transcendent profession panel of Deadly Poison Master.

In this way, on one hand, he would soon have a sufficient number of Skill Points, allowing his strength to gain another boost in a short period.

On the other hand, although being a Pharmacist hadn’t brought him any core skills, he believed that the Transcendent level of Deadly Poison Master would not be simple and was likely to bring him some sort of improvement or benefit.

Of course, he could decline the banquet invitation from Alonso, but as for the invitation from Count Habbs, the highest official of Meister County, Rein obviously wouldn’t refuse.

After some thought, Rein said to the beautiful woman, Jennifer, “Decline it!”

Jennifer had no objections and cheerfully said, “Alright, dear.”

“By the way, what is the theme of this banquet?” After thinking for a moment, Rein couldn’t help but ask casually.

Jennifer looked at the invitation again and said, “Hmm… it says it’s to appreciate a few oil paintings from the Eagle Federation.”

“Appreciating oil paintings?” Rein couldn’t help but look at the beautiful woman in surprise.

Jennifer chuckled and explained:

“Quite often, the purpose of a gathering among nobles is to enhance connections and strengthen exchanges. So, sometimes activities like tasting a batch of new Bordeaux vintages can become the theme of a banquet.”

“Alright, that’s…” Rein couldn’t help but be rendered speechless, truly the whims of the nobility.

….

When Alonso heard the report from his butler, Michel, that Rein had declined his invitation, he was neither angry nor disappointed; instead, he smiled slightly.

“Just as I expected.”

“However, this time it’s different. This isn’t just my personal matter. With so many nobles privately purchasing Divine Blood from the Black Flame Church, Michel, contact them, let them send banquet invitations to Jennifer these next few days.”

“As you command, Baron.” When Michel heard what Alonso had said, he suddenly understood.

The networks among these nobles were also the reason Alonso felt confident.

Since a large portion of the Divine Blood from the Black Flame Church was distributed to the nobility through him.

Simply put, a substantial part of the nobility in Meister County had formed a large interest group with the Black Flame Church through his brokerage.

In some aspects, they could act in unison.

If doing this in the past would have made him hesitant because his conflict with Rein had been more personal, this time the high priest of the Black Flame Church had made it clear that he would personally take action against Rein.

Therefore, at this moment, mobilizing these nobles to collectively pressure Rein was not an issue and wouldn’t cause the Black Flame Church any grievances.

….

—————–

Sunday.

In the study of Earl Habbs Mansion.

Rein met once again with the dignified Count Habbs, the highest official of the Imperial Meister County.

With his growing strength, Rein could faintly sense that Count Habbs’ power seemed not to be inferior to Captain Baron of the Fish-Dragon Squad.

Similarly, upon seeing Rein, Count Habbs couldn’t help but utter a slight “huh” and then stared at Rein intently for a while.

“It used to be that the most promising knight in all of Meister County should have been Cleya, but after seeing you again today, Rein, I think Cleya should give her place to you!” Count Habbs said with a smile.

“Thank you for your praise. Lady Cleya will always be my guide on the knight’s path,” Rein said with a slight bow and a smile.

“Rein, I originally thought you, a fledgling eagle, would need to learn to fly for a while longer before soaring into the sky, but I didn’t expect you to be ready to spread your wings so soon.”

“I have already received the official letter from Mingster. Rein, with your strength, as long as you perform normally, I believe you will certainly pass the Imperial Sword Bearer assessment smoothly.”

“Count, thank you for your encouragement.”

“By the way, if you encounter any difficulties in Mingster, you can take this letter and look for this old friend of mine. Perhaps, you might receive some help from him.” Count Habbs took out a letter from the drawer of his desk and handed it to Rein.

Rein took it and saw that the letter was already sealed with red wax, upon which was stamped the seal ring bearing the Kali bird emblem representing the Habus family.

Clearly, Count Habbs had been prepared.

“Thank you, Count!” Rein said with a bow.

…

Aware of Count Habbs’ care, Rein understood his intentions and expressed sufficient respect and good will.

Thus, the sumptuous banquet was spent in a congenial and joyful atmosphere, and before long, Rein returned home.

….

The next morning, Rein went about his routine in the villa’s backyard: feeding the greyhound ‘Cookie’, the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle ‘Blood Feather’, tending to the growth of the mutant potion, and recording the observations.
