Chapter 511: Chapter 228 Evolution of the Greyhound (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_4

Additionally, another reason Lord Reine decided to go himself was that he had always practiced diligently and continuously improved his combat skills, hoping that one day he could face these vermin and bravely break through any obstacle!

He had no desire to learn the saying, “A gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years.”

After all, which gentleman, if able to avenge himself on the spot, would wait ten years?

The premise of that saying assumes that a gentleman cannot take revenge at the moment.

However, charging forward courageously and charging forward recklessly are two different concepts, so he still had one more thing to do.

Reine turned to the door and said, “Matteo, prepare a carriage and accompany me to the Church of the Goddess of Monsoon and Ocean.”

“At once, my lord!”

Since Reine’s return, Matteo had been assigned to his side, and the astute Matteo often alleviated many of Reine’s concerns.

“Lord Baron… this….” Matteo hesitated but continued.

“Since you have doubts, why don’t you let me investigate over the next few days?”

Reine smiled and shook his head, saying, “If the opponent indeed has the Cult of Black Flame behind them, they surely have implemented some secretive measures within their estate. Needless to say, even I might have already alerted them before truly entering.”

“This could lead to some unforeseeable changes!”

“Understood, my lord.” Matteo showed a flash of realization and slightly bowed before heading to the stables.

Shortly after, Reine arrived at the church in a carriage.

In Father Rudolph’s room, Reine and Rudolph sat facing each other.

“Baron Reine, I heard you were appointed as the Governor of Fishing Port Town? What brings you back to the County Town this time?” Rudolph asked with a smile.

“Father, I may need your help with something.” Reine skipped the pleasantries and glanced at the temple guards behind him before speaking directly.

Rudolph noticed Reine’s expression and waved his hand, and immediately, a temple guard closed the door.

That was when Reine said, “Next Sunday, I will be attending a banquet which could likely involve a plot by the Cult of Black Flame.”

“The Cult of Black Flame?” Father Rudolph frowned.

Immediately afterward, Reine shared Hamilton’s analysis.

This quite surprised Rudolph!

“Is it that Baron Alonso, the eldest son of Count Habbs?”

“Exactly!”

If the former Reine, in terms of identity, status, and power, was far inferior to Alonso, speaking these words could cast doubt on their credibility.

But now it was different; Reine had become a rising star in Meister County, and his words carried significant weight!

Although Reine also made it clear that this was just his speculation.

After a few seconds of pause, Rudolph’s face showed sudden realization!

“No wonder the Cult of Black Flame has been hiding so deeply in the County Town, it turns out they had so many nobles covering for them. Lord Reine, what you’ve mentioned is very important; I must immediately report this to Bishop Shion.”

“Wait, Rudolph, the above is just my personal speculation. Is it really necessary to alarm the Bishop?”

“No, Baron Rein, I think your analysis makes a lot of sense.”

Immediately, Rudolph led Rein to the prayer hall of the Goddess Church, where they met once again the venerable old man in a water-blue robe with thick golden edges, holding a staff — Bishop Shion.

After a brief explanation, Bishop Shion nodded and said,

“So, Baron Rein, I understand what you mean. You are worried that once you attend the banquet, the other party might use some kind of dark magic against you.”

“Yes, Your Grace.”

“Your concern is not unfounded. Do you still have the Silver Conch Medal?”

“Of course, Your Grace.”

Rein took out the silver Conch Medal from the lining of his jacket, and respectfully handed it to Bishop Shion.

“The Silver Conch Medal currently only has a divine art that detects evil. Now, I will apply another divine art to it — the Divine Blessing Technique. It can neutralize a curse from an evil force or any negative impact once.”

Moreover, once this divine art is triggered, we will all sense it, and I will have Rudolph come over to support immediately.

“Your Grace, thank you for your generosity!”

“Lord Rein, rest assured. Next Sunday, I will personally be nearby with an elite group of Temple Knights. If we confirm it’s a stronghold of the Black Flame Cult or that the other party is planning an event, we will come over to support immediately.”

“Rudolph, thank you once again!”

Rein came to the Goddess Church not because he doubted his own strength, but to add an extra layer of insurance. After all, he still had few ways to counter the mysterious dark arts or curses of the cult.

In comparison, the countermeasures of the Goddess Church were more experienced and refined than his.

Moreover, he was already very satisfied with how far Rudolph and Bishop Shion had come.

After all, the above was just his speculation, and the Goddess Church could not just send Temple Knights to surround a noble’s residence without evidence.

In the Empire, the relationship between imperial and divine power was delicate, and without any evidence, such action by the Goddess Church would be a provocation to the imperial power of the Dragan Empire.

However, once the divine art on him was triggered, it would prove the existence of evil, and then the actions of the Goddess Church would be justified.

….

Several days later.

The second Sunday of the Month of Vitality.

As the sun set, Rein, dressed in a suit, boarded a carriage.

This was a brand-new luxury carriage, with sides engraved with a striking noble crest: a circle of red flames encircled a crossed two-handed warhammer and dual-handed greatsword.

Inside the carriage compartment, a large hound nearly the size of a pony lay at Rein’s feet, enjoying strokes from its master.

This was the Lurcher war hound Cookie, equipped on both sides of its body with arms like a boar’s head mace and the Glimmering Greatsword, and on its head, joints, and waist were protective armors newly forged by Rein.

Matteo had taken over as the coachman, tightly holding the reins and smoothly steering the carriage towards Baron Elliot’s estate.

Meanwhile, hundreds of meters above the carriage in the sky, a great raptor, blue and purple in color, carried something as it sometimes circled and sometimes darted through the clouds…..
