Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 537: Chapter 235: Observations (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_2

As for Miss Vinica, well, she’s a strong competitor, but the thing is, as long as the romantic relationship isn’t confirmed, there’s always a chance, isn’t there?

….

At this moment, since it was just Reine and Vinica in the carriage, Reine timely raised his own question.

“Vinica, how did you get the invitation to the imperial Sword Bearer examination?”

Upon hearing Reine’s question, Vinica couldn’t help but giggle.

“Lord Reine, don’t you know? Our Ubrek School of Wizardry, being a medium-sized wizard school that maintains good relations with the Empire, gets a certain number of invitations from various special departments of the Empire each year.”

“Although it’s a bit tougher to get an invitation from the Sword Bearers, Master Aeneas still managed to secure one for me.”

“Of course, I just got the qualification to attend the examination. Whether I can enter or not will depend on my performance during the exam, but I’m quite confident about that.” Vinica said confidently, waving her fair fist.

“I see,” Reine said with a smile and a nod.

This was almost what he had anticipated.

“I thought, since your mentor Master Annius is a consultant for the Southern Seas Fleet, that you would choose to join the Imperial Navy.”

Upon hearing this, Vinica was slightly startled, her eyes watery as she looked at Reine and said:

“Actually, my mentor also wanted me to join the Imperial Navy ‘Tide Walkers’ after a while. But I heard that you, Lord Reine, were going to participate in the imperial Sword Bearer examination, so…”

“Knock, knock, knock!”

The sound of knocking on the carriage door followed by a familiar and crisp female voice:

“Lord Reine, I want to consult you on some business matters, if that’s convenient?”

Vinica raised her eyebrows; that was Jenny’s close friend Agatha’s voice.

Hearing that Agatha suddenly wanted to come to Reine’s carriage, although Vinica had been immersed in her research on witchcraft, her feminine instincts made her quickly understand what was happening.

Consult about business?

What a poor excuse…

“Come in,” Reine said after thinking it over.

Although it was an inconvenient time for Agatha to visit, he couldn’t just turn her away.

After all, Agatha had once helped him collect Lingwen Books, and the Wigging family, to which she now belonged, was a shareholder in the Hammer and Rose Trading Company.

Although Vinica’s words were somewhat unresolved, Reine had clearly understood her intention.

Once Agatha boarded the carriage, Reine smiled slightly and said, “Miss Agatha, if you don’t mind, I’ll invite Jenny over as well; she’s quite bored by herself.”

Hearing Reine’s words, Agatha glanced at Vinica, felt a bit annoyed, but had no choice but to nod and say, “Of course, Baron Reine.”

A minute later, Jenny, looking a bit dazed, was escorted onto the carriage by the small statured Matteo, and the three ladies then sat together with Reine in the carriage.

Having the company of three noble ladies made Reine’s somewhat tedious journey livelier and more interesting.

Traveling from Meister to the provincial capital Mingster at the pace of the caravan normally took ten days.

And from today until the last day of the month of Vitality, there were exactly twelve days left, giving Reine two days to spare.

Geographically speaking, as they traveled between Meister County and Mingster, they needed to cross Wales County to reach the borders of the provincial capital Mingster.

Since the counties were connected by main roads primarily maintained by the officials, the road conditions were relatively good.

Along the way, there were occasional not-so-alert bandit groups attacking the caravan, but Reine didn’t need to lift a finger; just letting the Saluki war dogs and the Blood Feathered Horned Owl Beast coordinate a ‘ground-air’ assault was enough to scatter the enemies.

Of course, the bandits weren’t completely useless; at least, they contributed a wave of Experience to Reine’s Beast Taming profession.

Seeing a dog and an eagle so mighty in battle, Matteo’s eyes widened, and from then on, he took even greater care in looking after them.

“Tsk, tsk, Lord Reine’s power is getting stronger, and even the power of this dog and eagle by his side has surpassed me!”

“Alas!”

Matteo couldn’t help recalling how, half a year ago in Flashgold Town when he first joined the Night Watchman, Reine’s frail figure, and now looking at Reine, it was as if he had become a different person.

….

Six days later, Reine noticed that the environment on both sides of the road gradually began to change.

If Meister County was primarily hilly, then as they now entered the central area of Wales County, the surrounding environment began to transform into plains.

From the carriage windows, where he could occasionally see traces of snow at the top of the hills on the roadside, now, the surroundings were mostly freshly grown green grass.

The dense forests also gradually thinned out, replaced by scattered, well-placed farmlands.

And the farmers of Wales County were already starting some spring farming preparations.

After entering the plains area, Reine’s group hadn’t encountered any robbers for three consecutive days, not even a fierce wild animal occasionally jumping out of the forest.

The closer they got to Mingster, the better the security conditions seemed to be.

In addition, while on the road, Reine didn’t forget to continue his training.

There’s a saying from his previous life, ‘A fist not far from the hand, a tune not far from the mouth.’
