Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 846: Chapter 844: The Suddenly Destroyed Westminster Cathedral Narthex

That stunt from Brave Fight also forced Gu Xi to change his attack plan.

He shot Brave Fight a glare over his shoulder, then decisively gave the order: ”Sen, move up and clear out all enemies. Brave Fight, prep the Slowdown Skill—target that BOSS directly!”

After that Gu Xi didn’t stay idle either. He immediately jumped onto the Soul Summoning Tower and cast the Soul Summoning Skill on the Wooden People just killed by the Poison Wave.

This round of Summoning went very smoothly. Although everyone had been turned wooden, their bodies were still those of the living.

Under the influence of the Soul Summoning Skill, the enemies killed by poison quickly climbed back up.

Ordinary people turned into Skeleton Soldiers, but unlike regular Skeleton Soldiers, they still had branches hanging off them.

The guards turned into Zombies and quickly filled in Evilizer Sen’s ranks.

The Priests turned into Corpse Witches and immediately began retreating toward Brave Fight’s direction.

In no time Gu Xi’s forces swelled sharply; just in the hall right before him, his troop count shot past six thousand.

At this moment Gu Xi clearly felt that something was off.

The instance had obviously enlarged Westminster Cathedral’s main hall quite a bit.

But squeezing five to six thousand troops into this hall was clearly unreasonable.

Before, because the number of people entering on both sides wasn’t high, and the area here was fairly large, Gu Xi hadn’t paid it much attention.

Now, after the Poison Wave had wiped out a huge number of enemies, Gu Xi suddenly realized the situation in front of him was clearly wrong.

The space inside Westminster Cathedral was shrinking. The feeling here was like Gu Xi had charged in with his army into the inside of a pitcher plant; everything around him was squeezing in toward Gu Xi.

”Something’s wrong. Brave Fight, fall back!”

Gu Xi gave the order at once, and at the same time he himself jumped onto the Holy Silver Evil Coffin and led his men in a charge outward.

Even though Gu Xi gave the order quickly, the Undead Corps still reacted a bit too slowly.

Especially the Zombies who had already pushed quite far in—them trying to rush back out was anything but easy.

When Gu Xi, with a portion of his troops, had just retreated beyond Westminster Cathedral’s main gate, a boom sounded behind him.

Hearing that sound, Gu Xi couldn’t help turning back to look, and he saw that right as he had pulled out, the front hall of Westminster Cathedral in front of him had been crushed to rubble by the Apple Tree’s roots.

All the Soldiers who hadn’t made it out were squeezed to death by the bricks; not a single one survived.

Naturally, this also included part of the Undead Gu Xi had just Summoned, as well as Evilizer Sen and his men, who had already pushed deep inside.

If Gu Xi hadn’t pulled out fast enough, he might already have been smashed to death under all that masonry too.

Even so, Gu Xi’s losses this time were still huge.

Over six thousand in the Undead Corps, and half of them were just gone.

The ones who escaped were all those Undead closer to Westminster Cathedral’s main gate.

Taking in the scene before him, Gu Xi had to admit this instance was nowhere near as simple as he’d imagined.

If he’d been any slower, he would’ve died in there just now.

Looking at the completely collapsed front hall of Westminster Cathedral and the roots rising up from underground, Gu Xi finally understood why the marker for the second BOSS pointed to beneath the Apple Tree.

It hadn’t been pointing wrong—the BOSS really was located under the Apple Tree; what had just happened in the front hall of Westminster Cathedral was only the prelude to this BOSS’s entrance.

If Gu Xi had a professional dungeon scout, or if he’d kept Eldest Princess Anna by his side, he would have known.

This second BOSS was actually not the one who had just been standing on the Celestial Destiny Stone, looking up at the sky.

That was merely bait hung on a hook, meant to lure Players into the front hall of Westminster Cathedral.

The Wooden People in the front hall were the motivation that drew Players step by step deeper.

When Players slaughtered those Wooden People, they were effectively walking into a trap.

Once they killed more than two-thirds of the Wooden People, the front hall of Westminster Cathedral would be crushed by the Apple Tree’s roots.

In the end, the entire front hall of Westminster Cathedral would be pulverized.

If Players failed to react, they were absolutely going to be wiped once here.

If they managed to escape safely, only then would they encounter the real BOSS of this stage.

The entity truly under the Apple Tree.

But Gu Xi was extremely pissed.

How could an instance have such a bullshit setup?

He’d just lost over three thousand Soldiers in one go.

That was a huge blow to him.

Gu Xi snapped on the spot.

”Flame Domain!”

A ball of Flame was hurled out by Gu Xi.

The Flame Domain, bristling with all sorts of flaming Tentacles and Flame Traps, landed right on the Apple Tree’s roots.

Boom boom boom!

Gu Xi immediately set fire to the Apple Tree’s roots.

The second BOSS, who had been planning to make a flashy entrance right as the front hall of Westminster Cathedral collapsed, also took a hit.

He could accept that Players managed to escape.

But he never expected that once the Players got out, they would just straight-up set him on fire.

And it was even Flame with explosive effects.

This kind of Flame was disaster-level for the second BOSS as well.

Under the flames, half of the Apple Tree roots bursting up from underground were burned away on the spot.

Seizing the moment, Gu Xi cast another Soul Summoning Skill on the enemy troops who had been crushed to death by the front hall’s rubble in Westminster Cathedral.

With this round of Soul Summoning, over four hundred Zombies and Corpse Witches crawled out from underground.

They had no Hero leading them and simply charged toward the second BOSS under the Apple Tree.

At the same time, Gu Xi decisively ordered, ”Sen, you get ready to... damn it, Luna, head to the Eternal Enslavement Altar and resurrect the Heroes who just died and assign them back in.”

As Gu Xi issued his commands, the factions from Britain also gathered around.

Seeing the state of Westminster Cathedral’s front hall, their faces all showed shock and lingering fear.

They had all seen what just happened.

And they each compared it to their own situation.

They realized that if they had charged in with their own armies, the final outcome would probably have been a total wipe.

Thankfully, Gu Xi had gone in ahead of them and taken the hit, otherwise they would’ve really taken a massive loss this time.

Just as these faction Leaders were turning toward Gu Xi, ready to offer him their thanks, another wave of Undead Corps surged out from the Steel City Gate that Gu Xi had placed at the very rear of their defensive line.

This wave of Undead emerged in extremely neat formation; it was obvious that this force was led by a powerful Leader. Gu Xi’s gaze swept over and he spotted a Hero among this Undead Corps.

A Hero even Gu Xi himself had never seen before.

Commander Lin.
