Kaga and Diegu’s coordination with their troops was quite seamless, but no matter how well they cooperated with their forces, it couldn’t match the synergy between Kaga and Diegu themselves.

The two were practically one entity.

They just took different paths along the way, but essentially remained the same person.

Moreover, their paths were clearly mutually complementary.

Their cooperation was more than just a one plus one effect.

Even with a group of ragtag soldiers, they could fight off large numbers of enemies through defensive counterattacks.

Not to mention that the army they brought with them had grown up alongside them.

When attacked by Deceitful Shadows, Kaga and Diegu immediately cast Bone Armor on their subordinates, and as layer upon layer of Bone Armor was applied, their Undead Corps seemingly threw caution to the wind, disregarding defense altogether and charged directly towards the nearby Deceitful Shadows.

The Deceitful Shadows before them were clearly stronger than when Gu Xi first encountered them.

However, their level wasn’t too much higher, with the base Deceitful Shadows ranging roughly between Level 3 to Level 5, yet they seemed to have superior numbers.

Most of these Deceitful Shadows appeared human, while a smaller portion looked like long snakes or other bizarre amalgamations.

When they sprang up from the ground, they showed no mercy.

After all, they could tell that the troops led by Gu Xi’s two hero subordinates were at least Level 5.

Given their lower level than the undead, even if they wanted to take advantage of their numerical superiority, they had to unleash their full strength immediately.

They couldn’t afford to let the battle drag into a war of attrition; they needed to deliver their strongest blow to the enemy in the shortest time possible, then retreat to the rear to launch guerrilla strikes against the undead, using the advantage of terrain.

This was the strategy of these Deceitful Shadows.

Back when attempting to capture Tudor-era Yalidu City, this was the scenario Di Mi encountered.

Despite having the advantage in troops, they were dragged into street fighting, eventually turning several areas into flat ground.

Gu Xi had heard of this incident and had reviewed it with Eldest Princess Anna many times afterward.

The final conclusion was that to avoid getting stuck in such a situation, you either needed a large enough army to overwhelm each area decisively,

or you needed a sufficiently powerful force to steamroll everything, giving the Deceitful Shadows no time to react.

For this operation, Gu Xi chose the latter strategy — a direct sweep-through.

Mido, being swift, could reach beneath the city walls first to secure advantageous terrain.

With Kaga and Diegu using defensive counterattacks to clear the path of enemies drawn out, Gu Xi’s main force would be approaching the city walls.

At that point, using the number and levels of troops under Gu Xi’s command, they could launch a first wave of impact, undoubtedly breaching into the inner city and clearing everything inside.

Unlike Di Mi’s previous plans, Gu Xi had no intention of capturing area by area.

Gu Xi’s idea was simple: a clean sweep.

Kill all the Deceitful Shadows within Yalidu City of this period and then turn back to occupy the city.

This way, conquering Yalidu City wouldn’t take too long, avoiding turning the current battle into a prolonged war.

The losses would also be minimized.

As for whether those Deceitful Shadows would resist, Gu Xi was not concerned.

After experiencing the previous world, Gu Xi’s ambitions had grown.

Facing enemies with combat power around Level 5, Gu Xi didn’t even consider them a challenge.

After Kaga and Diegu started the battle, Gu Xi stood atop the Holy Silver Evil Coffin with the Illusion Magic Wand, observing the enemy’s situation.

Seeing Kaga and Diegu’s troops gaining the upper hand, Gu Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Gaining the upper hand indicated that Gu Xi’s plan was correct; the next step would be to transform the troops, converting the enemies killed here into reinforcements.

However, battling inside Yalidu City had one downside: Gu Xi’s Death City was ineffective.

He couldn’t deploy a new Death City within his Death City.

Thus, Gu Xi couldn’t deploy the Soul Summoning Tower onto the battlefield.

Instead, he deployed three batches of Necromancers to cooperate with him, using Soul Summoning Skill on the Deceitful Shadows killed by Kaga and Diegu.

This was the first time since Gu Xi had the Soul Summoning Tower that he used the Soul Summoning Skill on individual bodies.

With the Soul Summoning Tower, he could cast soul summoning over an area.

But now, he had to point to each corpse one by one.

As a result, messages kept popping up in front of Gu Xi.

[Skeleton Two-Handed Swordsman (Summoned Creatures) killed a Deceitful Shadow (Level 3), you gained 1 point of Experience, Kaga gained 1 point of Experience, Summoned Creatures gained 13 points of Experience.]

[You successfully used the Soul Summoning Skill, obtaining one Skeleton Soldier (Level 8), gaining 1 point of soul summoning Experience.]

[...]

Gu Xi was quite satisfied with these conversions; using Level 3 corpses to exchange for Level 8 undead was always a good deal.

Even if these Level 8 undead were just Skeleton Soldiers or Zombies, it was worth it.

Newly transformed undead forces, having just crawled up from the ground, immediately rushed forward.

Without any suitable weapons or equipment in their hands, it was the perfect opportunity to snatch weapons.

So they lunged forward without needing any commands, directly pouncing on the nearest Deceitful Shadow.

The sudden lunge surprised not only the Deceitful Shadows but also Kaga and Diegu in the midst of battle.

They didn’t expect this situation; these risen undead rushed forward empty-handed instead of heading back to retrieve weapons.

Gu Xi brought out all the weapons from the Ice and Snow Armory for this battle.

These weapons were the latest products from the Blacksmith Shop, quite excellent in quality. With weapons and equipment, even skeletons could enhance their combat power.

Surely that would be better than charging in directly, right?

No idea what these undead were thinking.

Despite being puzzled, Kaga and Diegu still applied various effects to these undead.

The most crucial Bone Armor was layered onto these undead, ensuring their safety.

This allowed the undead to focus more on attacking.

They clawed, bit, and continuously tore at the Deceitful Shadows, even trying to swallow them whole.

With their involvement, the battle became smoother, and Gu Xi’s main forces safely reached the vicinity of Yaliduwei City Wall.
