Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 818: Chapter 816: Cavalry Duel

Just as Gu Xi was trying to suppress the ”Ghost Dragon Book,” the body of the Two-headed Shadow Giant Dragon suddenly moved, and a large amount of dark essence transformed into Deceitful Energy Pearls that fell to the ground.

The Ghost Dragon wanted to salvage the situation, but found it couldn’t stop it.

Though they could prevent the Two-headed Shadow Giant Dragon from hitting the ground, they dragged the corpse right in front of Gu Xi.

But in the end, the Deceitful Shadow disintegrated.

Even Gu Xi was too late to attempt a summoning.

However, just as Gu Xi lamented over the missed opportunity, he suddenly noticed that the body of the Two-headed Shadow Giant Dragon hadn’t completely disintegrated, and where its heart once was appeared a massive city brick.

Upon closer inspection, Gu Xi found this city brick to be clearly stacked with ordinary bricks forming steps, beneath which seemed to be buried two fairly small skeletons.

These two skeletons had been buried for an unknown number of years, their clothes long gone, leaving behind just a pile of bones.

For some reason, upon seeing these two skeletons, Gu Xi thought of the pair of youths on the Bloody Tower.

Gu Xi pondered for a moment, then turned to order behind him: ”Send this thing back to Yaliduvi Tower.”

After handling the matter concerning the Two-headed Shadow Giant Dragon, the battle on the southern side was almost concluding.

With the exclusion of the Two-headed Shadow Giant Dragon, there weren’t any other powerful enemies on this southern side of the district.

Though the number of Deceitful Shadows was quite high, their level was not particularly formidable.

Moreover, Gu Xi had deployed his main forces on this side, so the battle on the southern side was nearing its end.

Glancing around, Gu Xi somewhat understood the situation Di Mi had faced.

This battlefield is incredibly vast; one district is manageable, but commanding across four districts simultaneously presents challenges.

Now that we’ve taken three districts at once, next we’ll face simultaneous attacks from four to five districts.

The battles will become increasingly difficult.

Most crucially, Gu Xi is only one person; he can’t direct multiple skirmishes simultaneously.

It seems paramount to unleash the subjective initiative of leaders and heroes.

Thinking of this, Gu Xi immediately focused his attention on the eastern district.

Amirka, leading a large contingent of cavalry and shadowy cavalry, had just gone through a major charge.

Under Amirka’s command, over eight hundred shadowy cavalry were immediately repelled.

These shadowy cavalry were supposed to be knights of some capability from within the city.

If organized, over eight hundred could pack a punch.

If raiding infantry directly, they could even fight ten times their number.

Yet against equally powerful cavalry, they fell short compared to Amirka’s forces.

Not to mention, Amirka’s cavalry force exceeded theirs vastly in size.

In this onset, over half of the shadowy cavalry were wiped out on the spot.

The remaining didn’t fare much better; a black liquid dripped from them, with their bodies showing signs of possible dissolution.

Facing such circumstances, Amirka showed no intention of retreat.

In Amirka’s view, cavalry never retreat.

Cavalry retreating would mean abandoning their crucial ability, the ability to charge.

That’s simply suicidal.

Regardless of what’s ahead or what form enemies may take, these cavalry won’t back down.

They raised their blood-red scythes high.

”Scarlet Inferno, Charge!”

Though leading Gu Xi’s heavy cavalry, Amirka hadn’t forgotten his roots.

He shouted the slogan of the Red Knights, leading the heavy cavalry for another assault.

This time, instead of employing Heavy Cavalry Synchronization, Amirka opted for another skill from the ”Iron Cavalry Strategy Book,” the Giant Slalom.

This skill allows cavalry to swiftly pivot without reducing their charging speed.

It makes sense.

Most cavalry require high speed to advance, but what if they’ve overshot or struck the wrong target?

To redirect, they must halt, realign, then charge anew.

Doing so negates the momentum advantage cavalry would typically hold.

This quick pivoting skill is indeed a coveted asset among cavalry.

While Amirka managed the Giant Slalom skill, the varied troops under his lead lacked cohesive coordination.

Pivoting was somewhat challenging, requiring more looping execution, before finally targeting the shadowy cavalry again.

The shadowy cavalry lacked such capability, exacerbated by their plight, with no organized counterattack emerging.

As Amirka wheeled around, their foes hadn’t regrouped.

Once Amirka’s cavalry hit their rear, they reacted belatedly.

Having lost speed and impact, with enemies advancing from behind, they were weaker than infantry.

With this charge, Amirka’s forces decimated the shadowy cavalry like tilling fields.

Anything a meter off the ground was struck down, with horses trampling them flat.

The cavalry engaged brutally this time, even the White Robed Iron Cavalry switched to sabers, bending low to strike fallen adversaries.

With this wave of attacks, the remaining shadowy cavalry finally perished.

Amirka’s forces returned to their initial charging position.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi had finished attending to the Two-headed Shadow Giant Dragon and turned his gaze this way.

What he saw was Amirka leading his cavalry forces back to their starting point; the eastern district held no standing foes.

Assessing the situation, Gu Xi realized that the battle here was over.

Just as Gu Xi was about to offer praise, he noticed dozens of Undead Knight corpses at the location where shadowy cavalry had perished.

This was a matter of usual war damages; Gu Xi wouldn’t argue that over a thousand versus eight hundred should yield no losses.

That’s unreasonable.

Gu Xi paid particular attention to this because unlike the shadowy cavalry that dissolved into Deceitful Energy Pearls, they transformed into a black liquid, converging toward a specific location.

Abandoned at the center of the battlefield, those cavalry bodies were ideal material for attachment.
