Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 825: Chapter 823: The Hidden Area’s Lettuce Duchy

Hesitating for a moment, Gu Xi still followed the path Mido had opened, walked through the still-open small gate, and entered the area behind the garden.

Once inside, Gu Xi felt a change in the environment before his eyes.

The sky, originally gloomy, brightened up. Upon closer inspection, he discovered the reason the sky was bright was due to a large tree growing here.

A huge amount of black aura was absorbed by the tree and eventually disappeared underground.

Nearby, many lettuces were planted.

From a distance, it looks like a vegetable garden.

However, at this moment, Gu Xi didn’t think this place appeared just for gardening; the change in the environment, along with some arrangements Gu Xi made in the center of the city, made him realize there was definitely something unusual here.

After pondering for a moment, Gu Xi jumped off the Holy Silver Evil Coffin, holding the Illusion Magic Wand, and took two steps forward.

As he stepped into this section of the city, the lettuces planted in the ground automatically moved to the sides.

A voice sounded from the direction of the large tree.

”An outsider? Have those terrifying Deceitful Shadows been eliminated?”

Looking in the direction from which the voice came, Gu Xi noticed that golden lights were falling from the direction of that large tree.

Upon closer examination, he could see that these were elves, only the size of a pinky finger.

They were somewhat different from regular elves, as they were emitting golden light all over.

At the same time, Gu Xi also noticed that with their appearance, the lettuce field before his eyes had transformed into a city, with each lettuce stalk being a small house, and inside were some similar elves peeking out to look around.

”Who are you?”

”Little Elf, Little Elf, Spirit Monster, Flower Demon, Flower Spirit, you can call us whatever you like. We are the unusual residents of this city, not transformed into Deceitful Shadows.”

One of the elves flew up right in front of Gu Xi.

Gu Xi noticed that this particular little elf was a bit different; although small in stature, he appeared akin to a Great Angel.

He was clad in heavy plate armor, wielding a longsword radiating golden light, with pigeon-like wings on his back.

When he flew to Gu Xi, Gu Xi also noticed he had a large beard.

”You must be an Undead, welcome to the Lettuce Duchy, I am the current King, you can call me Jiben Lettuce Flower.”

”A duchy? A duchy hidden in Yalidu City?”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi was at a loss.

”Although I wish to say otherwise, I must admit this duchy truly exists.”

Even Jiben was speechless himself; these little elves appeared to have all sorts of military units, yet their combat power was exceedingly weak; three to five elves could barely defeat a single mouse.

Despite Jiben’s Great Angel guise, he truthfully lacked even a level.

If Gu Xi were unaware of the situation here, casually using a Death Ripple or Mind Kill could obliterate these elves.

However, now that Gu Xi had arrived, and since they weren’t Deceitful Shadows, killing them all wasn’t on his mind.

”Alright, even if you have a duchy, it seems like you lack self-preservation skills. I’m Gu Xi, the Lord of Yalidu City. I’ve come to attack the current Yalidu City.

I’ve already seized half of Yalidu City, and within the next ten to twenty hours, I’ll have the rest.

As you can see, I am an Undead Mage.

Although I’m still alive, most of my subordinates are Undead.

Your presence in my city may be influenced negatively.

Judging by your current situation, if even a trace of Undead aura touches you, you might be done for.”

”Oh no, Mr. Gu, we aren’t in such dire straits. Can you guess how we’ve survived in this city full of Deceitful Shadows?”

Upon hearing Jiben’s words, Gu Xi glanced at the large tree not far away.

”Is there a problem with the tree?”

”This tree possesses purification abilities, but for now, it can only cover the area before us.

Yet it suffices to protect our Lettuce Duchy.”

”Aren’t you afraid of the Undead?”

Gu Xi asked curiously.

”Why fear? Life and death are the most natural phenomena; where there’s life, there’s death, which is normal, unlike these Deceitful Shadows that have extreme corrosiveness.

Why should we fear the Undead?”

Alright.

Gu Xi already understood the theory of these little elves.

Meanwhile, a thought of utilizing these elves flashed through his mind.

”Would you like to join my Yalidu City? I can guarantee you ample land to reside on.”

Gu Xi’s diplomacy skill, though not high level, was useful.

Along with his forces, and Gu Xi being truly beneficial to these elves, Jiben naturally nodded affirmatively when Gu Xi proposed this.

Afterwards, Jiben, slightly begrudgingly, remarked, ”But what can we do? Our skills mainly consist of planting trees, herbs, or flowers.

Had it been others, we wouldn’t even consider this, but you’re clearly Undead.

I must ask, do Undead need to eat as well?”

”We do eat, though often it’s not the same as regular humans. Sometimes negative energy or yin qi suffices, without the need for consume food.”

”That’s unfortunate, our combat power is weak, we might not be able to aid you in battle.”

Gu Xi glanced at Jiben, thinking his notion of weak combat power compared nothing at all; he basically had none.

Thankfully, some aspects in their earlier conversation had caught Gu Xi’s interest.

”What did you mention earlier about planting trees?”

”We can, planting trees is innate to us.”

”Can you plant some trees with special requirements?”

Gu Xi recalled having five thousand Grass Returning Pill Tree Seedlings.

It’s easy enough to dig a hole and bury them, but the cultivation requirements of these seedlings weren’t that simple, and Gu Xi didn’t have a Druid or Spirit Plant Master.

Entrusting a bunch of Undead with tree planting seemed unrealistic.

Thus, upon hearing the elves’ ability to plant trees, Gu Xi naturally had to inquire.

”Of course we can, we were born to plant trees, but what kind of tree do you wish to plant?”

Upon hearing Gu Xi’s desire to plant trees, Jiben’s excitement grew.

He saw clearly that Gu Xi had some demand for them.

This was a blessing indeed, as his fear was that Gu Xi might lack demand, rendering them unnecessary, ultimately driving them away.

In that case, they’d truly be lost.

Now, Gu Xi merely asked them to plant some trees, a trivial task easily manageable.

”No problem, regardless of how special the tree is, can it be more special than the World Tree? Not bragging, but we’ve even planted the World Tree...”
