Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 996: Chapter 102: Evolution 2

In the cosmic system, the intrigue of the Carbon-Based System lies in its evolutionary capability.

Unlike the Mechanical Civilization, which can infinitely mass-produce soldiers, it can generate infinite soldiers.

Unlike the Information Civilization, which controls everything, it can absorb everything.

It is unlike the Energy Civilization, but it can evolve bizarre life energy.

At this moment, in the Star Destroyer, Gao Gong is curiously observing the spoils from the Immortal Energy Star, the controller behind billions of zombies—a Carbon-Based Corpse Monster.

If judged simply by shape, it looks much like a Red Liquid Test Subject from a long time ago, but unlike the Biological Species, it has distinct human organs, each appearing as freshly plucked, and with each breath brings pure and potent life force.

It can be infinitely transformed, and its life form can be infinitely reset. According to the Biological Expert in the faction, it’s practically an Innate Experiment Saint Body.

More than one Biological Expert has come to report and wanted to insert it into their biotech projects, but Gao Gong mercilessly rejected them all.

It’s not just that this ’Zombie 0’ is of great use to him, but more importantly, besides him, no one else in the faction can suppress a Tier 4 species.

At this moment, the entire room is crawling with Memory Worms, these transparent insects are crazily attacking Zombie 0, trying to transform it into Gao Gong’s second body. However, each time they crawl onto it, a pure life energy emerges, repelling them.

Life energy is nurtured from the life form, so in some sense, it cannot be purely pure.

However, the life energy in this ’corpse monster’ seems to nurture no form.

So it can repel the Memory Worms—it does not need memories, therefore it is not constrained by ’memory loss’, it does not nurture a personality, so it naturally does not face the obstacle of ’personality reset’, and its neural system’s transformation rate drops to 0, it won’t suffer from ’neurotheft’...

Most waves of the Cyber Tide cannot harm it.

After all, it no longer acts human, so human methods naturally have no effect.

However, under sheer tier suppression, the Tier 5 Information Mother slowly but surely erodes its essence.

Although slow, it is persistent.

’A pity, in a way, it’s a nemesis of the ’Memory Mother.’’

The voice of the Deep Net echoed in Gao Gong’s ears.

For a life form of this shape, she was witnessing it for the first time, marveling at the sheer variety the cosmos offers.

’If it could indeed reverse life to such a degree, it might truly ignore tier suppression and achieve that.’

Gao Gong said softly.

If it truly could achieve that, then the experiment would be successful, the human body transformation rate could drop to 0 or fill up instantly.

But if it truly succeeded, it wouldn’t remain just with him.

Moreover, despite countering the ’Memory Mother,’ it is restrained by another power.

Gao Gong’s gaze fell on the opponent’s abdomen, where a dense, blood plasma-like red glow was nailed tight. This red glow seemed to represent all aspects of life control and loss of control. Each time the corpse monster attempted transformation, the red glow would shine, interrupting its operation and accelerating the Memory Worms’ invasion.

The corpse monster counters the Cyber Wave, but conversely, the power of ’fusion’ restricts it.

Finally, as a multitude of Memory Worms wriggled into the opponent’s skull, the dim eyes suddenly emitted a red glow, which collided with the red light in Gao Gong’s eyes. A man and a corpse monster exchanged a glance, the ’corpse monster’ first opened its mouth, its voice hoarse and unpleasant.

”After several months, it finally evolved.”

In Xianxia terms, this is called External Incarnation, in Cyberpunk terms, it’s called a Virtual Personality, but only Gao Gong himself knew, it was pure ’species evolution,’ just evolving a ’self.’

Similar to cloning, only with a shared brain.

”Eh?”

”What’s up?” the Deep Net asked curiously.

”Nothing, this power is so... peculiar, I need to ponder it deeply.”

”You ponder slowly, I’m off to take a nap, call me if you need anything.”

The Deep Net stretched with a big yawn, its illusory figure disappearing in an instant. For the past few months, she had been using the power of the ’Civilization Modifier’ to help Gao Gong suppress the fluctuations of the evolving Memory Mother. After all, this thing is quite sensitive, once reported, it could easily summon a specialized enforcer from the council to suppress it.

So during this period, Gao Gong continuously leveraged the power of the ’Cosmic Relic’ to mask these special fluctuations.

The Deep Net left, leaving only Gao Gong and another ’Gao Gong’, who looked at the main body, suddenly grinned.

”No attributes?”

”Well, no attributes.”

On the System Panel, there were no attributes for this ’Tier 4 Carbon-Based Corpse Monster.’

Gao Gong had known for a long time that the system isn’t omnipotent, some very special things can’t be read by it, like the Cosmic Relic, like the Tier 5 Information Mother, and now another item is added, this ’corpse monster’ avatar.

This at least signifies that this ’Tier 4 Carbon-Based Corpse Monster’ has development value no less than the former two.

”The strength of the Carbon-Based System is built on the foundation of fusion, but the power of this body seems to be a kind of ’decomposition,’ isn’t this cool?”

The zombie-version Gao Gong suddenly remarked.

”If it indeed is that kind, then it’s really cool,” Gao Gong nodded.

Terms like cosmic stallion, hybrid king, species synthesizer, carbon-based aberration, those flattering or unflattering titles all describe the absurd fusion capability of carbon-based species, its DNA structure seemingly crafted to absorb other excellent genes.

But if there is ’fusion,’ naturally there is also ’decomposition.’

More than one cosmic expert has published academic articles trying to decipher the power of ’decomposition’ in carbon-based creatures.

After all, once the power of ’Carbon Base Decomposition’ is researched, that expert will etch their name with vivid strokes in the history of all Carbon-Based Civilizations.

The Civilization Council even developed a field of ’Decomposition Science’ for this reason.

Yet, despite numerous theories, mature biotechnology remains non-existent.

Nevertheless, Gao Gong’s ’zombie avatar’ somewhat presents the ’form decomposition’ of the ’Decomposition Theory.’

However, for such decomposition to be complete, the transformation rate of this zombie avatar must reach perfect conversion, either dropping to 0 or achieving 100% human revival.

...

Yet through Gao Gong’s experiment, he found that the transformation rate for this body, regardless of the human body system, could only drop to a maximum of 10%, unable to go lower.

Conversely, it’s the same.

The lift of the human body system could only reach 90%, hitting a cap.

”If the boundary of carbon-based creatures cannot be broken, then strictly speaking, this Zombie 0, is a failure.”

”You are kidding, the development of Forbidden Technology isn’t that easy, with over a hundred planetary test sites, having one breakthrough is remarkable. If it wasn’t for Hun Jie’s interference, even this level of ascend-descent wouldn’t be possible,” the Zombie Gao Gong retorted.

”Hun Jie? So, a Supreme Being indeed interfered,” Gao Gong thought, speaking.

”More than just interference, they plan to use this body to refine a Carbon-Based Fruit.”

”What? This Supreme Being has already reached the level of the ’Group Pantheon’?!”
