Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 981: Chapter 87: Planetary Ecology Observation

The traction beam involves an advanced application of space technology, operable only by spaceships capable of superluminal flight.

And the traction beam of the Star Destroyer can achieve cross-planet teleportation at maximum range.

Two hundred people scattered across Immortal Energy Star, like a drizzle, unnoticed.

What they needed to do was to serve as the vanguard of planetary exploration.

Immortal Energy Star, Level 1 Corpse Circle, Corpse Bone Forest

”Hmm, 50% air humidity, the air contains oxygen, nitrogen, and 17.3% of a special substance. Upon analysis, this substance is a special type of nucleic acid, showing a strong reaction with proteins, capable of producing unknown mutation effects.”

A player wearing protective gear was uploading data into a device and, after pondering for a moment, let their adventurous spirit take the lead.

”Biological Chip, record my body status.”

As soon as the words dropped, there was a tightening sensation all over, and a warm flow spread throughout his body from the back of his neck.

The Biological Chip successfully activated.

As a Biological Hunter, this often meant he had entered hunting mode.

He took off the gloves of his protective suit, exposing his palms to the air.

”No reaction at all.”

The novice player muttered.

But soon, fine black lines began to spread from his fingertips to his palms, leaving the skin visibly shriveled to the naked eye, with a tingling sensation spreading from the bones.

Suddenly, various human data were transmitted from the Biological Chip.

’Human body moisture rapidly evaporating, bone molecules beginning to accelerate secretion under the influence of mysterious substances, proteins alienating, metabolizing a type of alienated trimethylamine. No wonder there’s a stinky smell.’

The Biological Chip suddenly delivered a warning.

The novice player squinted his eyes, glanced around, and saw in the barren forest, a rush of footsteps suddenly emerging, silhouettes visible in the distance, all humanoid.

”Zombies, Level 20 monsters with developed scent abilities, able to sense the alienated trimethylamine emitted from my body. But even at a Level 1 Corpse Circle, there are so many monsters.”

According to data shared by other players, the novice player understood that on this planet, there existed corpse circles similar to radiation circles, ranging from Level 1 to Level 10, with Level 5 and above capable of breeding a corpse tide.

”They’re small monsters, I’ll clear them in one go.”

The Level 52 novice player pulled the protective suit over his shoulders, revealing pale, slender arms. As the zombies got closer, veins as thick as coins started to bulge from his arms, emitting a strong biological energy.

”Heh, let’s try my Enhanced Arm!” The novice player’s eyes glinted with a bloodthirsty gleam.

In the next moment, a massive arm as thick as a water tank burst forth, crushing all zombies into pulp as it passed.

Soon after the novice player left, two native players, resembling the protagonists of a zombie apocalypse movie, showed up late. One lowered his handmade crossbow and exclaimed in surprise:

”Why is a Corpse King Hunter at our small leveling point? Aren’t they all busy defending the city lately?”

The other male player picked up a piece of corpse, examined it for a moment, shook his head, and said:

”It likely isn’t a local Corpse King Hunt. Old Xie uses a long knife, Bald Cape Guy uses alien fists, and the Head Shooter uses a large-caliber sniper cannon; none of their attacks result in this type of destruction. It feels less like a Corpse King Hunter and more like destruction caused by a Corpse King.”

”So you mean there’s an internal battle among the boss monsters?”

”Most likely.”

The two reached an agreement and happily started collecting corpse bits. Even though they’re low-level zombies, the piece of flesh from the back of the head still contains a trace of the zombie virus, which is a necessity for players on this planet.

”With this much corpse meat, my digestive system’s transformation rate can be reduced a bit more.” The male player said gleefully.

”I think your digestive system has been reduced enough. Any more and you’ll have to rely on nutrient fluids. Why not choose another, like the reproductive system?”

”No! Unless I’m dead, I will never tamper with my second brother!” the male player said resolutely.

The female player rolled her eyes beautifully.

”Classy.”

...

Immortal Energy Star, Level 6 Corpse Circle, Mountain City Ruins

As the former official city, Mountain City had strong infrastructure, with over a hundred city defense laser cannons. The high and rugged terrain ensured layered resistance against zombies, making it very suitable for defensive counterattacks.

Currently, at the Mountain City Ruins, Immortal Energy Star’s unique corpse tide erupted, with densely packed zombies surging up the mountain like a tidal wave, stretching beyond the visible horizon. These zombies are completely different from typical movie portrayals: each one resembles a sprinter, and the speed of some zombies is so fast it’s barely visible to the eye. If not for the periodic sweeps by laser cannons stationed on the city walls, these supersonic zombies would’ve already made it up.

’The speed of these Corpse Generals has reached Tier 2; however, I don’t feel any presence of a special biological magnetic field.’

At this moment, high above in the sky, an Invisibility Type Exoskeleton Armor silently recorded data.

’No mutations, no bloodline modifications, no organ implants; the players here seem like traditional evolutionists.’

Unlike the ’haphazard modifications’ on Mechanical Split Star, the players here are quite human-looking, seemingly without mutation abilities, but with greater strength, faster speed, and sharper reflexes.

Even the zombies are the same.

Tens of thousands of zombies in the corpse tide, without zombie dogs, corpse insects, giants, or tyrants; just zombies. It seems this planet only has humanoid monsters, and the more advanced the zombies, the more human-like they become. In the scan by the Exoskeleton Armor, the Corpse Kings hidden in the corpse tide resemble players almost identically.

This depiction is an extreme contrast to Mechanical Split Star, where everything but the people looks like monsters.

’Could it be that there isn’t a single mutated existence among these zombies? Or have I not gathered enough data yet?’

’Even the technology tree is like this.’

The Exoskeleton Armor switched to display various ’weapon pictures’ it captured, including Tier 1 hand-made earth guns, hand grenades, and earth cannons, as well as high-level, seemingly outer-space imported laser guns, laser cannons, and EMP bombs.

Ordinary players wield rebar as melee weapons, and long broadswords, while some high-end players from Immortal Energy Star sport low-level exoskeletons, wield machine guns, or even drive tanks.

This led the Observer to marvel, as a zombie planet, the atmosphere here is remarkably proper.

’Corpse tide record uploaded successfully, moving to the next observation point, observation target: this planet’s ’satellite monitoring system.’’

Over two hundred players, most were quietly exploring according to the observation targets given by someone.

Some sharp-minded players even retrieved their Newbie Village outfits, unused for centuries, to impersonate native planet players and make contact with their peers here.

Some particularly unusual players carved out a different path, like pretending to be Alien NPCs.

At this time, at the core of the Mountain City Ruins, in a shelter, over a dozen Corpse King Hunters were looking peculiarly at an electronic screen; at the screen’s center, an alien named ’Mr. Bao’ was happily peddling various weapons and ammunition to them.

”Ahem, as a traveling interstellar weapon merchant, I cannot bear to see you native brothers suffer because of a lack of weaponry, allowing monsters to destroy your homes. As long as you agree to sign a contract with me, I, Lord Bao of the advanced species, will meet all your needs.”
