Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 953: Chapter 59: Titan Mechanism

The Xiejia Clan’s Financial Group was naturally unaware that in the distant Mechanical Serpent Constellation, there was a freshly minted Level 3 Influence eying its position.

In fact, not to mention the Xiejia Clan, even Xie Family that Gao Gong currently had to deal with was more renowned than his Cybertron Corps.

However, this also served as a reminder for Gao Gong, that is, if he dealt with Xie Family, would this Super Civilization Financial Group notice?

Gao Gong pondered for a moment and ultimately decided to take some risks. For one, the Cyber Test Field had already been withdrawn, rendering Xie Family useless. For another, the Mirta Federation and the Galen Republic, these two dominant regional powers were currently in a military confrontation mode, so they might not notice his small fry; furthermore, the most important point is that he was very interested in Xie Family’s Mechanical Ancestral Hall.

...

In a rundown starport in the Mechanical Serpent Constellation, crowds hurried by, their bodies entirely covered by holographic projections, giving the impression of wearing a colorful hood.

The newly joined high-ranking member of the Cybertron Corps, the former boss of the Vervi Star Thief Gang, Vervi, was advancing and simultaneously explaining to several small players.

”This is Chaotic Star Port, a public area of the Star Thieves, with at least three smuggling routes directly connected here. Besides a large number of smuggled goods, some advanced starship weapons repair like railguns, matter fission cannons, dark matter emitters and such all have their repair paths. However, only someone like me in the industry can find the true path.”

Vervi shoulder-bumped a nearby unknown alien entity, sending it flying, gleefully sweeping the surroundings with a menacing look, and then proudly walked through a wall.

”If it were outsiders, they might even get their bones swallowed clean.”

The few small players exchanged glances, momentarily, a player with a metal plate stuck to the temple swept the wall and let out a light sound of surprise.

”So it’s a mimetic device, let’s go in.”

A player touched the wall with their hand, pressing lightly to sink into it, then the entire person squeezed inside.

Compared to holographic projections, mimetic devices not only enable signal shielding but also facilitate physical shielding. Strictly speaking, this device is actually an outcome of ’material science’.

Once the small player entered, a pungent smell of alcohol hit them instantly.

”I thought you, old thing, were dead, lately I’ve noticed starships coming out from your house – the one I personally modified, damn it! Had I known, I wouldn’t have wasted so much effort!”

”Hahaha, should excellent interstellar species learn to link with higher-level ecosystems.”

”So, you’ve found a new employer?”

At this moment, it was a very peculiar species boasting to Vervi, its stature like a five-meter-high cockroach, with 95% of its body already completed mechanical transformation. Dense mechanical limbs were probing in and out from its back to its abdomen. While drinking and boasting with Vervi, these mechanical limbs skillfully repaired a mechanical cannon half wrecked by bombardment.

On the surface, this species had no visual organs, yet when it glanced at the player, several small players froze, in a trance seemed like murky eyeballs squeezed out from the flesh, coldly staring at them.

In the eyes of the few players, numerous clouded spots visibly emerged almost spreading from the retina to the eye socket.

[You’ve been intimidated by an unknown entity ’Gates’, Consciousness -100 (Temporary)]

”Alright, old man, what’s the point in bullying these little kids,” Vervi spoke offhandedly, yet showed no intention of assisting.

When it comes to perverse level modifications, the players coming out from the Cyber Test Field aren’t a bit inferior to the other side.

Leading one of the players, with a ’metal strip’ at the temple, suddenly a silver needle popped out, and then pierced into the eyeball from the temple. From the metal needle’s eye, silver seeped out from the center of the eyeball, beginning to replace the cloudiness; simultaneously, the spine started to transform, as the rumbling sound of small engines continually echoed, metal ball-shaped drones sprung out from the spinal joints, transfiguring in mid-air.

A moment later, nearly a hundred ’drones’ aimed at the two.

These ’drones’ seemed almost alive.

’Gates’ let out a sound of surprise.

”Temporary consciousness transfer, Forbidden Level body transformation, good heavens, Red Skin Monster, the newcomers you brought are quite impressive.”

Vervi grinned widely and said:

”Well, are you interested in working for my new employer? The offers my new employer makes are genuinely enticing.”

”Not interested, I’m quite fine here, taking on private jobs, researching technology, much better than risking life and limb, I’ve had enough of the Star Thief lifestyle.”

Knowing the other party was a technical fanatic, Vervi started persuading from that angle:

”But staying in this place, how much progress can your techniques really make? It’s not like old times anymore when we could seize civilization-level warships for research.”

He softly uttered a few words, ’Gates’ immediately showed a shocked expression.

”Star Destroyer... no way, are you serious!?”

”Is it true or not? Why don’t you go see for yourself? Have you always been interested in the mechanical technology of Level 4 vessels? This is a Super Starship even the Galen Republic doesn’t possess,” Vervi continued to entice.

’Gates’ displayed a fluctuating expression, convinced the other party wouldn’t lie about such matters, but such affairs were astonishing. At this stage, he didn’t believe any influence in this Star System could forge a Star Destroyer, at least as far as he knows, even the most ship-savvy Galen Republic hasn’t advanced beyond ’Dominator Level’ for years. As for Stellar-level interstellar fortresses, strictly, they no longer count as ’spaceship’ in the technology tree.

Seeing this, Vervi further seized the momentum.

”The Cap I’m currently with is an ambitious big shot, developing civilization influence is inevitable; if you follow him, chances are you’ll achieve your dream, haven’t you always wanted to switch careers to become ’Mechanic’?”

Gates paused for a moment, hesitantly asked: ”Are you sure you’re not bluffing?”

”Whether it is or not, you’ll find out when you get there. Your knowledge of interstellar energy science can only have space to shine by heading there.”

”Alright! I’ll go have a look then!”

The bunch of mechanical limbs on Gates’ back abruptly exerted force, flipping over the weapon platform it was repairing, leaving behind any miscellaneous items, inserting the storage hardware from the safe into its body, hastily crawling to leave, then suddenly realized something, turned and asked:

”Newcomer, what’s your name?”

The player who liberated from the other’s pressure by temporary consciousness transfer finally spoke.

”I’m called Titan Mechanism.”
