Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 989: Chapter 95: Exploration 1

After the Mechanical Black Tortoise wiped out the Corpse King squad in one move, the overall situation was set.

The ’beep’ ’beep’ ’beep beep’ of the System Prompt Sound rang out from every city defense player’s personal panel, and the defense rewards made every player grinning from ear to ear.

Baozi squinted his eyes, crossing his arms, sitting on the Black Tortoise’s shell, silently observing the scene.

”Every time I see that expression on your face, I know you intend to trick someone again.”

Suddenly, the voice of pp Boss sounded in Baozi’s mind.

”A mutually agreeable transaction, how can that be called cheating,” Baozi rolled his eyes and said.

”Now that the city defense has succeeded, our mission is also over. When are we retreating?”

”Retreat?” Baozi smiled oddly: ”Don’t be ridiculous, the end of city defense is just the beginning of our mission.”

The next day, as expected, some Corpse King Hunters with whom we’d gotten familiar came to ask in a roundabout way if they could visit the Spaceship.

Just to take a look, definitely not touch anything.

Baozi chuckled, verbally agreeing ’maybe there’ll be a chance,’ then clasped his hands behind his back and started wandering around the city.

As for pp Boss and the Mechanical God Supreme, they received his instructions as well, to roam aimlessly within the city, dead set on not leaving.

...

With the success of the city defense, the sealed buildings in the city were progressively unsealed, including the City Guard Data Hall, which allows players to issue tasks, publish rewards, and enhance city building upgrades like NPCs.

Under ordinary circumstances of successful city construction, Rakish Knight and others would have eagerly started researching the city system.

However, having witnessed the combat power of Interstellar Players, the players in the Mountain City are now less interested in the hard slog of city building, focused entirely on joining a higher-level faction and entering new maps.

They’re sick of fighting zombies every day.

”Boss, Volcano City has requested a visit for City Lord communication.”

”Knight Boss, Sea Wave and others from Saint Lawrence City are reportedly on their way.”

”Darn, Birds and Fish idiot actually threatened us that if we don’t hand over the alien player, they’ll wage a city war against us. His Fish City is so far from us, is he gonna drive a tractor over to fight?”

Due to the twisted tech tree of Wasteland style, the industrial system is almost nil, so tractors are considered a relatively strong means of transportation.

Originally in a good mood after completing the city construction, Rakish Knight was pestered early in the morning by other City Lords’ threats or temptations, making his head spin.

Taking advantage of a gap, he gathered a few cronies and whispered:

”Didn’t I tell you to take those three big shots for a walk? Why are they still in the city.”

”Boss, they refused to leave, what could I do? Can’t exactly kidnap them, can’t beat them.”

”Think of a plan, say you’re taking them out to see the sights or something.”

”What sights, Boss, our planet only has zombies, unless you want me to get zombies to perform a folk dance for them?”

”Great idea, get it done then.”

”F**k...”

...

Gao Gong sent Baozi out, indeed stirring up trouble for the Interstellar Players of Immortal Energy Star. As the former 4th Celestial Calamity, Gao Gong knew very well, the best way to deal with players is to let players handle it themselves. If Gao Gong went out personally, the Interstellar Players would probably be planning to take down the boss right now.

But now, Gao Gong no longer cares about these issues.

With a significant level gap, no matter how players toss and turn, they are still under his control. He is now more interested in the ’Advanced Civilization Experiment’ of this planet.

If the ’Zombie Perpetual Motion Machine’ is truly developed, it would be more terrifying than some cosmic marvels.

However, Gao Gong does not hold high expectations for it.

Not to mention the high difficulty of this experiment, even if it were developed, research samples would have already been taken.

Yet, aside from experimental results, Gao Gong is quite intrigued by the method of ’lowering (raising) System Transformation Rate.’

Because this direction of biotechnology research seems vaguely aligned with the ’Fusion Route.’

In recent days, combining the ’Breathing Method’ created by players, Gao Gong has been using a ’Biological Computer’ for data deducing.

The results of the deduction are quite promising.

There is a 55.1% chance that this technology could be integrated into the ’Fusion Evolution’ process and enhance Gao Gong’s two major moves: ’Fusion Evolution’ and ’Flesh Celestial King.’

The former costs the enemy a thousand, but self-harming three hundred, if the rejection is too high, it even poses a risk to life.

As for the latter, although it’s much safer, Gao Gong cannot possibly carry tens of thousands of Radiation Beasts or biological flow players around.

Genuine interstellar war is fine, but for other situations, the range of applicability of this move is very limited.

But if he could master this ’Human Body System Evolution,’ it could indirectly fortify these two moves, especially the former.

Given that he had seen the strongest civilization in the past life, Fusion Mode is certainly not a self-exploding bomb. Specific technological development requires gradual exploration.

In comparison to his own improvement, if developed, this technology offers greater advancement for faction development.

Because Gao Gong discovered a rather cheating aspect of this zombie technology.

This aspect doesn’t lie in attribute enhancement but in its ability to ’reset the Transformation Rate.’

Both for NPCs and players, human body modification can never be 100% successful.

Once it fails, the corresponding transformation space would be permanently lost.

But if this ’reset technology’ can be developed, when a human body system’s modification fails, directly reset that body system, clear the Transformation Rate, and redo the modification.

This not only brings substantial improvement in strength, but more importantly—

Through this, Gao Gong could attempt to cultivate ’Fusion Soldier Species.’

The combat power of Fusion Civilization’s soldier species is, without exaggeration, unmatched worldwide!

...

Amidst these good news, some bad news also arrived:

The signal from ’Lord Celestis,’ who was on a planetary assignment, suddenly disappeared.

”Currently, what is certain is that Lord Celestis disappeared in this region.”

On the planetary model, a location akin to the ’Arctic’ was marked out.

”After Lord Celestis disappeared, we dispatched a large number of drones to this place, but once they entered this region over ten thousand meters, all signals were lost.”

”Later, we sent out hundreds of ’special soldier species,’ but so far, these ’species’ have not returned.”

The so-called ’special soldier species’ are naturally players.

Initially, Gao Gong wanted to directly declare players as the ’4th Celestial Calamity,’ but considering the universe taboo of the three great calamities, he decided not to court death.

However, players’ ’respawning’ traits have been known by NPCs for a long time.

It is not uncommon in the cosmos; bionic pilots, species cloning pods, information avatars, etc., are all similar technologies.

Through incidental remarks by Gao Gong, the NPC upper echelon also realized that their boss mastered a special technology, creating these special soldier species.

Upon hearing this, Gao Gong paused.

Calculating the time, even if all those players doing tasks had died, they should have come back online by now.

Why hasn’t even one respawned?

His interest was piqued.

Because in this game, there are methods that can keep players from being online or offline.

Such as the late-game classic ’Biological Can’ technology, players can’t even attempt suicide.

Could it be, this planet’s Newbie Village has Canned Monsters too?!
