Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 250: Chapter 229: Brother-in-Law

Inside the car, Lu Li laughed out loud after watching the video.

He caused such a stir on the outskirts of Tijuana, and Oseguera still dares to have a temper?

Although no large-scale destruction was caused, his white laser could cut through tanks; these thugs really have a death wish?

Lu Li had it all planned, next time when he goes to America, he’s going to have a heart-to-heart with Oseguera, letting him know what fear truly is!

If the Jalisco Group remains stubborn, then he’ll uproot them completely!

Lu Li looked closely at the suspicious photo in the video that seemed to be Oseguera, and imprinted it deeply into his memory.

He possessed eidetic memory with three-dimensional recall.

Once he remembers someone, he never forgets them for life.

Lu Li didn’t bother with how this news would turn out, he continued scrolling TikTok.

He had just returned from the Ugly Country for the moment.

It was definitely impossible to make a thousand-mile trip just for Oseguera.

The other party wasn’t worth that much prestige.

Dealing with it would be an effortless task the next time he went over.

Liu Kexin seemed to notice Lu Li’s expression, blinking her eyes, she said, ”Your smile is so creepy, it sent shivers down my spine.”

Lu Li realized that his emotional fluctuation must have released a trace of concealed pheromones, affecting Liu Kexin next to him.

He lifted his head with a gentle smile, ”Is it still creepy now?”

Liu Kexin hastily glanced at him, ”No, it’s just that for a moment you seemed very scary, my heart was pounding.”

Lu Li teased her, ”If your heart wasn’t beating, that wouldn’t be right, I’d have to give you CPR!”

As he lightened the mood, the cheerfulness within the car returned.

However, this cheerfulness didn’t last long before it abruptly ended.

...

Around eleven at night.

The Cullinan slowly drove into Diamond Home.

As soon as they drove into the small villa area, not even having the chance to park.

Liu Kexin noticed the bright lights inside and frowned, ”Why is Aunt Huang still awake so late, why are the lights all on downstairs?”

Lu Li also found it very strange, he immediately activated his superpower and investigated inside.

He saw in the living room on the sofa, sat a handsome middle-aged man about thirty-four or thirty-five years old.

On either side of the middle-aged man stood Aunt Huang, Liu Kexin’s female driver, and several bodyguards originally hidden in the dark for protection, on the other side stood seven or eight stout men in suits standing straight, resembling bodyguards.

This middle-aged man wore a short-sleeved white shirt, black slacks, and a pair of leather shoes.

These clothes seemed ordinary, but if you looked closely, you could see they were high-end.

The most crucial point was that this person bore a four or five point resemblance to Liu Kexin.

No need to guess anymore.

It must be a member of Liu Kexin’s family.

Most likely a brother or similar.

After finishing the observation.

Liu Kexin’s car had already stopped.

Lu Li frowned and said, ”It seems like someone from your family has come.”

”Huh?” Liu Kexin was startled, quickly turning her head, saying, ”Are you sure? How do you know that?”

Lu Li didn’t explain, but said, ”You get off first, I’ll find somewhere else to stay for the night, to avoid causing unnecessary trouble for you.”

Liu Kexin reached out and held Lu Li’s hand, firmly saying, ”No need, it’s time to face it sooner or later.”

Though it was only six words, Lu Li could hear how resolute she was from her tone.

He remembered that Liu Kexin once shared in her heart that she had a cousin driven out of the house for love, losing his inheritance rights.

And now Liu Kexin was willing to introduce him to her family, clearly ready for a showdown.

If not handled well, she might not only lose her inheritance rights, but also end up with nothing.

At this moment, Lu Li was especially touched and resolutely held Liu Kexin’s hand in return, saying, ”No matter what happens, I won’t let you suffer.”

Liu Kexin showed a sweet smile, ”Mm, I trust you.”

They exchanged a few words.

The two got out of the car.

Knowing there were people inside, Lu Li and Liu Kexin didn’t take the shopping bags out, instead, they held hands and walked straight in.

Or it could be said, it was Liu Kexin firmly holding onto Lu Li’s hand, seemingly ready to declare something.

Opening the door, what met their eyes was exactly the scene Lu Li had seen with his x-ray vision earlier.

Those on Liu Kexin’s side, such as Aunt Huang, the driver, and the bodyguards, looked over with worried eyes upon hearing the door, then quickly bowed their heads.

In contrast, the bodyguards on the other side stood like stone pillars, not giving any reaction at all.

The only middle-aged man sitting on the sofa remained motionless, but his face turned even darker when he saw Liu Kexin and Lu Li walk in hand in hand.

Liu Kexin seemed to just notice the middle-aged man, and expressed surprise, ”Oh, brother, why are you here? Is this set up for a tribunal?”

Oh, so it was her brother.

Lu Li roughly understood the other party’s identity.

The only unclear thing was whether he was a cousin or a direct brother.

From the looks of it, the possibility is greater that he’s her direct brother.

”You should be thankful it’s me who came and not Dad!” The middle-aged man slowly opened his mouth; his tone wasn’t sharp, nor did it reveal any anger. He seemed very calm, but what he said wasn’t pleasant to hear, ”If Dad saw you bringing a boy home late at night, you know what would happen.”

Boy?

Upon hearing this, Lu Li couldn’t help but chuckle silently to himself, thinking the description was quite fitting since he indeed looked quite fair.

Liu Kexin, however, wasn’t happy, ”What do you mean by boy? Please show some respect, he’s Lu Li, my boyfriend!”

The middle-aged man squinted, ”Grandfather sent you to Huaxia to test your ability to run a company, not to find romance, Liu Kexin. I hope you can keep your head clear!”

”I’m very clear.”

Liu Kexin still didn’t let go of his hand, pulling Lu Li to sit down beside the sofa.

Lu Li didn’t feel burdened, sitting down with great interest, and looked over at Liu Kexin’s brother.

The people around, like Aunt Huang and the bodyguards, seemed to have realized something, and all held their breath.

The middle-aged man looked expressionlessly at Lu Li but spoke to Liu Kexin, ”What can a boxer give you? Aren’t you afraid that grandfather will find out and leave you with nothing?”

Liu Kexin hadn’t had time to answer.

The middle-aged man continued, turning to Lu Li: ”Lu Li, nicknamed Ancestor, I haven’t said anything wrong, right?”

Lu Li smiled, ”Correct, and then what?”

The middle-aged man looked at Liu Kexin, ”You go upstairs first, as I need to talk privately with Mr. Lu.”

Liu Kexin wasn’t moved, ”No, I won’t allow you to hurt...”

”It’s okay, Kexin.” Lu Li patted her hand comfortingly, ”Let me have a detailed chat with your brother.”

Though Liu Kexin didn’t want to listen to her brother, she obeyed Lu Li.

She hummed softly, looked at the middle-aged man, then withdrew her gaze, and said to Lu Li, ”No matter what he says, don’t take it to heart, I will stick with you through thick and thin.”

Lu Li smiled and nodded, ”I know, you go upstairs first.”

Liu Kexin said nothing more, got up, and walked toward the stairs.

The clattering footsteps echoed in the stairwell.

It wasn’t until Liu Kexin was definitely upstairs that the middle-aged man waved his hand, ”You all go out for a while, Mr. Lu and I have something to discuss.”

”Okay, Mr. Liu.”

”We’ll go outside for now.”

The crowd on both sides left.

Lu Li sat calmly over there, waiting for the other party to initiate the conversation.

The middle-aged man took a glance at the door Aunt Huang closed as she left last, and said, ”Mr. Lu, let me introduce myself first. I’m Liu Ke Ping, Kexin’s biological brother.”

Lu Li praised, ”Waves may be pacified but human hearts remain restless; overturn the waves and see who can fathom its emotions, nice name.”

Liu Ke Ping was slightly surprised, ”You can even remember such obscure lines from Liu Yue’s ’Three Laments for Qu Yuan’?”

Lu Li responded casually, ”I have a very good memory; typically, anything can be remembered for a lifetime.”

Liu Ke Ping chuckled, ”Are you warning me? I haven’t even gotten the chance to warn you.”

Lu Li crossed his legs, ”How do you plan to warn me?”

Seeing Lu Li’s composed demeanor, Liu Ke Ping wasn’t angry at all; rather, he said gently, ”I don’t plan to warn you, I just want to have a detailed chat.”

Lu Li gestured, ”Feel free.”

Liu Ke Ping said, ”As far as I know, you’ve been with Kexin for quite some time, right?”

Lu Li nodded lightly.

After confirming, Liu Ke Ping continued, ”Then you should know what kind of environment Kexin grew up in. She has been pampered since childhood and never suffered any hardships. You may not feel it now, but if she is really kicked out of the family for you, losing her financial source, your earnings from boxing may not be enough to satisfy her spending habits. When you run out of money, what do you think will happen?”

He indeed seemed reasonable.

He didn’t resort to throwing money around like in movies or novels.

Nor did he utter any threats.

Instead, he laid out a fact.

Indeed, Liu Kexin was used to living well.

If she clashes with her family and loses her financial support, not everyone can afford her.

Of course, this conversation carries another layer of meaning.

Liu Ke Ping is telling Lu Li that if he insists on being with Liu Kexin, he won’t get any financial support from the Liu family, so don’t dream of marrying into wealth.

Lu Li isn’t foolish; he can obviously understand the underlying meaning.

Seeing Liu Ke Ping being reasonable, he straightened his legs, formally sitting upright and looking seriously, ”Firstly, being with Kexin, I never expected to gain any benefits from your Liu family, rest assured about that. Secondly, I know she grew up pampered, and since I dare to be with her, I am prepared and capable of offering her a high-quality life. Lastly, it seems your investigation into me isn’t detailed enough; the wealth I possess far exceeds the few million US Dollars you are aware of, and if I wanted money, though it might take some effort, accumulating wealth akin to your Liu family wouldn’t be a difficult task for me!”
