Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 245: Chapter 224: Spiritual Transcendence

A dinner passed amid hot pot and Professor Hu’s explanations.

Lu Li roughly understood the functions of the immune system and human hormones.

Afterward, he voluntarily paid the bill.

After arranging with Professor Hu to send human science materials to his email later.

Lu Li drove Shen Xia, Gu Wei, and Professor Hu back to their respective places.

He drove all the way to Vox.

Lu Li sent a message to Liu Kexin, saying he was downstairs.

Then he kept checking his email to see if the materials had arrived.

Unfortunately, they hadn’t come yet.

He waited for about five minutes.

Finally, Liu Kexin came down and got into the car.

Lu Li turned his head to look at the passenger seat, ”It’s already past eight. Why were you busy so late today?”

”Phew.” Liu Kexin said tiredly, ”I didn’t come in the morning, so I had to work a bit longer in the afternoon. What did you do this afternoon?”

Lu Li started the car and moved forward, teasing her: ”Went on a date, would you believe it?”

Liu Kexin responded with an ”oh,” not taking the bait.

Lu Li glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

He noticed Liu Kexin seemed a bit upset, as if she was jealous.

He couldn’t help but laugh, ”You’re not really jealous, are you?”

Of course, Liu Kexin could tell from his reaction that she was being teased.

She snorted lightly, ”Who’s jealous of you? I am not.”

Lu Li merged onto the main road, casually asking, ”Hey, do you know where the villas are a bit more upscale?”

Liu Kexin might have been too tired, and replied weakly, ”Peach Blossom Spring, Shanglin Garden, and Zhuozheng Villa, these Jiangnan-style courtyard villas, I quite like. Oh, by the way, I had someone check out a villa in Peach Blossom Spring. Although it’s far from Diamond Home, the living environment there is nice. Do you want to live there together when the time comes?”

He already had a Chinese-style courtyard villa in Shanglin Garden, there’s no need to buy a similar one.

Lu Li thought for a moment and decided to buy a more luxurious villa in Shanghai.

After all, once his private jet is delivered, it will definitely be parked at the airport in Shanghai.

Living in Shanghai later would make travel and such more convenient.

He joked, ”What, do you want to keep me?”

Liu Kexin: ”...”

Lu Li was about to tease her a bit more.

Suddenly, with a ding, a message came in.

Lu Li casually said, ”Help me check the message.”

Liu Kexin picked up the phone and checked, ”It’s an email from someone named Hu Zhigang.”

Finally, the materials had been sent over.

In a good mood, Lu Li decided to study them carefully tonight.

He hummed and said, ”Tomorrow is Saturday, so you should be resting, right?”

Liu Kexin nodded, ”Yes.”

Lu Li said, ”Then have a good rest tonight, I won’t bother you. Get up early tomorrow and go with me to Shanghai to look at villas.”

Liu Kexin then realized, ”Are you planning to buy a villa and move out?”

When she said this, her tone seemed a little reluctant.

Lu Li teased her, ”I am going to buy a villa, but not to move out, it’s for our wedding house.”

Liu Kexin retorted, ”Who said I’m going to marry you?”

Lu Li laughed, ”Once I buy the villa, if you don’t want to marry me, there will be plenty of women lining up to do so.”

Liu Kexin tweeted anxiously, ”You dare!”

Seeing her nervous reaction, Lu Li couldn’t help but feel happy and burst into laughter.

...

Back at Diamond Home.

Lu Li spent a little time with Liu Kexin before returning to his room.

There were important matters to attend to tonight, so romance had to be set aside.

After taking a shower, he lay on the bed, picked up his phone, and checked the human science materials sent by Professor Hu.

While reading, Lu Li pondered aspects of his own evolution, ”There’s one thing for sure, a peptide hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary lobe can promote the growth of bones, viscera, and the whole body, stimulate protein synthesis, and influence fat and mineral metabolism, playing a key role in human growth and development.”

This peptide hormone is the growth hormone.

For instance, if some people secrete too much growth hormone, teenagers can develop gigantism due to unfused growth plates; post-puberty, once growth plates have fused, they may develop acromegaly; a few cases may begin in adolescence and continue into adulthood, resulting in gigantism.

In fact, the role of growth hormone extends far beyond this.

It plays an essential role in reproduction, burn treatment, and anti-aging fields.

Lu Li explored and began using consciousness projection to scan his condition, wanting to see if growth hormone fully affects his evolution.

The human science materials Professor Hu sent were very detailed.

Lu Li could easily identify what substances were secreted from where.

He naturally found the growth hormone quickly.

Generally speaking, post-maturity, human growth hormone stops secreting, but it can still secrete, just in reduced amounts.

He observed closely and found that whenever growth hormone was secreted, his body was growing stronger.

Even though the growth was minimal, nothing could escape the powerful scanning capability of the consciousness projection.

”Just as I suspected, there’s a key hormone influencing evolution.”

Lu Li mused, ”And this key is the growth hormone.”

In ordinary people, excessive secretion of growth hormone can cause diseases.

Yet his secretion of growth hormone could promote bodily evolution?

Lu Li pondered, ”My growth hormone should have undergone a qualitative change along with my body’s evolution, and it might be a totally different concept from ordinary people’s growth hormone.”

He tried to control his anterior pituitary lobe to see if he could secrete more growth hormone.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t control the anterior pituitary lobe.

Lu Li felt a bit puzzled, ”When I’m with Liu Kexin and feel the sweetness, growth hormone can be released more, so why can’t I control it?”

Oh, right, when he’s with Shen Xia and felt sweet, his brain would secrete phenylethylamine, dopamine, and endorphins, affecting his whole body.

It seems that because his whole body is affected, it reaches a more enhanced state, and the anterior pituitary lobe is also affected, thus secreting more hormones.

This method definitely won’t work for ordinary people.

After all, growth hormone secretion weakens after adulthood.

It even stops secreting after reaching a certain age.

Lu Li is different.

Because growth hormone is the key point of evolution, it continues to be secreted.

Just like during adolescence, it is continuously secreted to promote physical growth.

However, adolescents secrete growth hormone to ”grow up.”

But Lu Li secretes growth hormone for ”evolution.”

As for how to make himself produce more phenethylamine, it’s actually simple for Lu Li, even for ordinary people.

Just as Professor Hu said, when people are in danger or tense, the level of phenethylamine in the brain will increase significantly.

For example, experiencing a life-and-death crisis, an escape room, or watching a horror movie can all have a similar stimulating effect on the brain.

Since he knows how to stimulate the brain to secrete more phenethylamine, thereby affecting the secretion of growth hormone, things become much simpler.

Lu Li delightfully found a horror movie and lay down to watch it.

Then...

Alright, he was ”skilled and courageous.”

The horror movie ”The Ring,” which used to terrify him, now didn’t stir him at all.

”No, the method suitable for ordinary people to stimulate the brain doesn’t work on me at all.”

Lu Li knew he had to use his superpower to solve this problem.

And he happened to have a superpower that could keep him in a certain exciting emotion.

Yes, it’s the tracer pheromone of advanced life pheromones!

Lu Li had tried before; as long as he allowed the tracer pheromone to convey ”frightening” information to himself, even he would be affected and fall into fear.

He silently chanted in his heart to release the ”frightening” tracer pheromone on himself.

The next moment, a surge of fear slowly rose and spread in his heart.

Lu Li seized the opportunity to observe his physical condition and found that when he was in this state of extreme fear, his brain indeed secreted more phenethylamine, thereby affecting his entire body and causing more growth hormone to be secreted.

”I remember Professor Hu said that growth hormone is secreted most vigorously during nighttime sleep. So, if I maintain this emotion and fall into deep sleep, will the effect be even more outstanding?”

Lu Li decided to give it a try.

He controlled himself to simultaneously receive the ”frightening” information from the tracer pheromone and enter deep sleep.

Alright, the fear was too intense.

He couldn’t fall asleep peacefully at all.

Helpless, Lu Li had to use the fear to make his body secrete a certain amount of growth hormone, then fall asleep again.

...

In his dreams.

Perhaps secreting too much growth hormone had a tremendous impact on his body.

As soon as Lu Li entered sleep, he immediately saw the Little Golden Man frantically mobilizing the energy light within his body to strengthen his physique.

This situation didn’t last long before the energy in his body was entirely consumed.

Then, he saw the Little Golden Man unexpectedly return to the Mud Ball Palace, quietly staying there to recuperate.

At that moment, the lights went out.

Lu Li fell into slumber once more.

He didn’t sleep long. As his internal energy recovered, he awakened again.

Lu Li saw the Little Golden Man constantly absorbing the new energy light, seemingly ”upgrading.”

At this sight, Lu Li felt somewhat confused.

Based on the last evolution experience.

Wasn’t it supposed to be when approaching deep evolution that the Little Golden Man would initiate ”upgrading” in advance?

Why this time, with no sense of deep evolution, did the Little Golden Man elevate ”evolution”?

He pondered, perhaps the Little Golden Man’s upgrade speed is based on the degree of energy light mobilized within?

He stimulated his body to secrete more growth hormone, forcing the Little Golden Man to mobilize more energy light for rapid evolution, but it was ”beyond its capability,” thus opting to ”upgrade software”?

Wait!

Proactive ”software upgrade”?

Lu Li suddenly recalled the time when he and Flame Baby were in Modu Hotel, wasn’t it because the software couldn’t drive the hardware, causing them to fall into a coma?

If the Little Golden Man ”upgrades” and the hardware can’t drive the software, won’t it be even more troublesome?

A shiver ran through his body, fearing he might have made things worse.

As soon as this thought arose, the energy light within him depleted once more.

Lu Li fell back into a deep sleep.

...

He didn’t know how much time had passed.

Lu Li felt his body seemed to become very light.

He felt his ”consciousness” seemed to transcend his physical body, inexplicably floating in nothingness.

The feeling was very mysterious.

He could clearly ”see” his physical body lying quietly in sleep on the bed not far away.

At this moment, the body was as if its life was hanging by a thread, seeming to be on the verge of death.

Yet, Lu Li could perceive that the body wouldn’t have any issues in the short term.

It was like a computer in sleep mode, not functioning but not truly on the brink of death.

The feeling was profoundly marvelous.

Lu Li seemed to have shed some restraints and achieved a spiritual transcendence.

Everything in the room was vividly clear.

Wardrobe, computer desk, curtains, even the crawling of a few unknown tiny bugs under the bed were visible.

Lu Li’s ”gaze” seemed to have a perspective function, able to penetrate thick walls.

Looking around, the night was extraordinarily dark.

With the naked eye, probably nothing could be seen two meters ahead.

Yet, Lu Li saw everything with great clarity.

The branches of the two dawn redwood trees housed a nest of birds snuggling, the middle-aged couple on the second floor of the small western-style house were... well.

Even... the particles forming the air, water, and all matter!

What amazed Lu Li the most was his ability to observe these particles linking into ”lines,” interwoven like small spider webs forming a vast, massive web extending to the sky or even the vast cosmos’ depths.

It seemed as though he had gained insight into the origin of the world.

Immensely majestic, spectacular.

The sensation was very much like when he first unlocked microscopic vision and consciousness projection.

Lu Li was slightly bewildered, pondering, ”Could it be that I’ve truly had an ’out-of-body experience’ this time?”
