Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 224: Chapter 205: The Greatest Gain

Los Angeles has many luxury residential areas.

Among them, the most famous is probably Beverly Hills.

In fact, there are many luxury homes that are on par with or even surpass Beverly Hills.

For instance, Montecito, Malibu, Santa Monica, and San Marino among others.

Lu Li, Zhang Guocheng, Xiaolin, and Old Wu traveled in a Rolls Royce to the Malibu luxury home area.

This area is located in the western part of Los Angeles, famous for its beaches and sunshine. It is a densely populated area with high-end houses, favored by social elites, surfing enthusiasts, and dreamers. Since the 1950s, it has been a filming location for many Ugly Country movies.

It’s said that many Hollywood stars and social elites live here, including Tom Hanks, Paris Hilton, Kate Hudson, and there are even rumors that Jack Cheng moved here after selling his Beverly Hills mansion.

Lu Li and the others got out of a villa by the sea.

As he stepped out of the car, he could gaze at the incredibly beautiful ocean view, with yachts anchored there.

The breath-taking scenery instantly filled his eyes.

Lu Li couldn’t help but recall the environment of the Chinese-style courtyard villa gifted to him by the Liu Family. To be honest, although they are two different styles, he still found the scenery here to be superior.

The most important thing is that it is so close to the ocean. If you could have a luxury home here and a luxury yacht, you could go out to sea with a beauty anytime.

Lu Li felt a bit restless and asked, ”Director Zhang, do you know roughly how much the real estate prices are here?”

Zhang Guocheng seemed to know a lot about this area of Los Angeles, and replied with a smile, ”The real estate here isn’t cheap. A regular luxury residence costs three to four million US Dollars. For a mansion like this, I estimate it has a private cinema, tennis courts, and, you see, a private beach over there. From what I understand, the market price for this mansion could be three to four hundred million in soft sister currency.”

Wow.

A mansion costing three to four hundred million in soft sister currency.

It was the first time Lu Li truly realized how expensive real luxury homes can be.

He really liked it here and really wanted to own a similar mansion, but since he doesn’t live in the Ugly Country permanently, it seemed like buying one here might be a bit of a waste.

Maybe he should look for a similar super mansion when he goes back home.

Thinking this, Lu Li, Zhang Guocheng, Xiaolin, Old Wu, and others, led by the driver, entered the mansion.

Inside, the decoration was splendid, with various luxuriously magnificent furniture that was dazzling to the eyes.

At the moment, there were many waiters wearing red vests and white shirts, busily preparing food for the party, whereas the attendees hadn’t arrived yet.

Lu Li, Zhang Guocheng, and the others did not linger much on the first floor and went straight to the reception room on the second floor.

Inside.

Cameron, an elderly Latino man, and seven or eight executives from California Eighteenth Street were waiting.

As soon as they saw Lu Li enter, they stood up to greet him.

Lu Li shook hands with everyone and exchanged some small talk before being invited to sit next to Cameron.

Zhang Guocheng, Xiaolin, and Old Wu sat on the high-end sofa opposite.

Cameron personally poured Lu Li a glass of red wine, ”Mr. Lu, how do you feel about this place?”

Lu Li sipped a bit from the wine glass, ”Not bad.”

Cameron chuckled, ”Not bad means you’re not too satisfied?”

Lu Li was about to say it wasn’t the case.

Suddenly, Cameron changed the subject, ”This mansion may not impress you much, but the person I’m about to introduce, I believe you will like.”

As he spoke, he clapped his hands.

The next moment, a blonde, blue-eyed, scantily dressed Caucasian beauty walked in as the door was opened.

Lu Li looked up and saw that this Caucasian woman was very beautiful, so beautiful that he even felt she was more attractive than those Hollywood actresses. Most importantly, her figure was superb, comparable to those Victoria’s Secret supermodels, curvy and shapely.

Not only Lu Li found this woman beautiful, even the usually composed Zhang Guocheng couldn’t help but glance over repeatedly.

Cameron motioned for the beauty to come closer, and once she did, he introduced, ”Mr. Lu, her name is Britney Johnson, she’s twenty-one years old, a newly debuted supermodel. She just won the Los Angeles top model contest. I plan to support her in the upcoming World Supermodel Contest. Tonight... she’s yours.”

Britney Johnson immediately flashed a sweet smile and extended her hand, ”Hello, Mr. Lu.”

Lu Li shook her hand, ”Hello, Miss Johnson.”

After a brief introduction, Cameron had Britney Johnson sit next to Lu Li.

Britney Johnson was very well-behaved, immediately nestling against Lu Li, constantly inquiring about his well-being, and seemingly intentionally or unintentionally brushing her impressive figure against him.

To be honest, Lu Li found it hard to resist the allure, but he didn’t forget the real purpose of coming here today.

Therefore, while half-heartedly flirting with the supermodel, he simultaneously activated various supernatural abilities, hoping to uncover Jin Zhouzhou’s whereabouts.

At first, he truly didn’t find any trace of Jin Zhouzhou.

However, as time went on, just as the private party was about to officially begin, Lu Li finally unearthed some useful information.

...

On a private beach, two high-ranking members of California Eighteenth Street were smoking cigars and gazing at the sea view.

The obese middle-aged white man lying on the sun chair asked, ”The boss wants us to investigate the details of Zhang Guocheng and his team. How is your investigation going?”

The other, a well-built young man of brown descent sitting nearby, said, ”I’ve got it all figured out. Zhang Guocheng seems to have no issues. It’s said he’s a recent graduate from a Huaxia university, previously worked at Vox Company, which was just acquired by the Liu Group, and later resigned after some conflicts with Vox’s higher-ups.”

The obese man asked again, ”What about the people around Zhang Guocheng?”

The young man of brown descent said, ”There are some issues.”

The obese man paused his cigar-smoking, ”What issues?”

The young man of brown descent frowned, ”I can’t find any information about them. They seem to have appeared out of nowhere. However, the young man with the surname Lin, I dug up some info that he once served in the military, but can’t find any other information after he was discharged.”

The obese man frowned, contemplating something.

After a while, he cautiously asked, ”Do you think these people... could be looking for Jin Zhouzhou?”

”It’s possible,” the young man of brown descent laughed, ”Of course, it’s just a possibility. Up till now, they haven’t shown any unusual movements in searching for Jin Zhouzhou, so it’s merely a suspicion for the time being.”

The obese man nodded slightly, ”Alright, keep an eye on them. If they do make any moves to find her, report to me immediately.”

The young man of brown descent felt a bit exasperated, ”A couple of days ago, we discovered Huaxia people investigating, and for caution’s sake, didn’t the boss send Jin Zhouzhou to the US-Mexico Border to lay low? You didn’t know about this?”

How could the obese man not know? Instinctively, he wanted to say, ”Better safe than sorry.”

But suddenly, the obese man seemed to lose consciousness, feigning confusion, ”Sent to the US-Mexico Border? How come I didn’t know about this? Where exactly was she sent?”

The young man of brown descent didn’t think much of it, casually said, ”Where else but Tijuana? Doesn’t the Jalisco Group do business with us? They’re well-equipped, with even armored vehicles and tanks. Hiding someone within the Jalisco Group is, of course, the safest.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the obese man’s gaze regained its mobility, following his inner thoughts, ”Better safe than sorry. No matter what, if these Easterners show any unusual moves, we will move Jin Zhouzhou immediately.”

...

Second floor, reception room.

Lu Li, who was pretending to flirt with Britney Johnson, had a subtle change in expression; he finally discovered where Jin Zhouzhou was hiding.

It must be said that deliberately cutting through several steel barriers at the underground fight scene earlier was the right move.

Otherwise, with Jin Zhouzhou hiding within the Jalisco Group in Tijuana, Lu Li believed that Zhang Guocheng, Xiaolin, and others would have had no chance of finding her in the short term.

He knew not to alert the enemy, otherwise the other side might continue to relocate Jin Zhouzhou.

Since he already knew where Jin Zhouzhou was hiding, Lu Li definitely wanted to seize her immediately, staying here for the party was pointless.

He was contemplating how to slip away without drawing attention from Cameron and others.

Just then, a commotion suddenly erupted outside.

Lu Li glanced towards the door, his face inadvertently breaking into a smile, his chance to escape had come!

Sure enough, when Cameron, Zhang Guocheng, and the elderly Latino man all looked towards the door, it was suddenly kicked open.

Immediately, Julia Giannini, dressed in a black backless dress, burst in furiously.

She seemed to have received some information and as soon as she entered, she rushed over and slapped Britney Johnson hard, cursing, ”Fack, you bitch, how dare you steal my man!”

Britney Johnson was terrified, clutching her head and crying.

Not to mention this woman, Cameron, the elderly Latino man, and others were all scared half to death, for Julia Giannini was their biggest benefactor.

Cameron immediately stood up, bowing and scraping, fawningly asking, ”Ms. Giannini, you...”

Before he could finish, Lu Li shot to his feet, pretending to be very angry, and scolded, ”Julia Giannini, you’ve shown me no respect at all, hitting my friend right in front of me. Hmph, you’ve let me down. Let’s go out and talk.”

Finishing speaking, he appeared extremely furious, grabbed Julia Giannini’s arm, and headed straight for the door.

As he walked, he spoke, ”Mr. Cameron, apologies, but Julia and I have things to discuss, so we’ll have to miss the party.”

Zhang Guocheng, Xiaolin, and Old Wu hastily followed suit.

Up until now, everyone was somewhat baffled, not knowing what exactly had happened.

Only Lu Li, dragging Julia Giannini out, had a curved smile on his lips.
