Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 236: Chapter 216: Bro, I Got a Girlfriend

By the time they returned to Su City, it was around eight in the morning.

At Diamond Home, Lu Li first had breakfast downstairs with Liu Kexin.

After the meal, he followed her straight to the second-floor bedroom.

Inside.

Upon entering, Liu Kexin turned her back to Lu Li and rummaged through the cabinets, ”I need to change my clothes and go to work, you should get some sleep to adjust the time difference.”

Lu Li looked at the graceful silhouette in front of him, stepped forward, and snatched the white blouse from Liu Kexin’s hands, hanging it back on the rack.

He said, ”Going to work after a sleepless night?”

Liu Kexin reached out to grab it again, ”There’s a lot going on at the company...”

Before she finished speaking, Lu Li held her hand and pulled her into his embrace.

Liu Kexin let out a surprised cry, her whole body pressed against Lu Li’s chest.

Her face turned an unusual shade of red, and she whispered, ”Don’t mess around.”

Lu Li cupped her chin with his hand, looking seriously into her eyes, ”Take the morning off to catch up on sleep, and go to work after you’re rested.”

Liu Kexin found it hard to meet his gaze, her eyes dodging, ”It’s fine, I can catch up on sleep after handling things at the company, you should get some rest and adjust the time difference first.”

Lu Li continued to stare into her eyes, deliberately saying, ”I want you to keep me company for a while.”

Upon hearing this, Liu Kexin seemed to go weak all over.

Her eyes turned a bit dreamy as she replied, ”But really, at the company...”

Lu Li didn’t let her finish before he lowered his head to kiss her.

In the past, Liu Kexin would have likely dodged away seven or eight times out of ten.

This time, however, she didn’t choose to evade.

On the contrary, her eyebrows slightly moved, and she voluntarily closed her eyes, allowing Lu Li to kiss her.

Lu Li gave her a brief kiss, then pressed his forehead against hers, softly saying, ”Don’t go to work today, alright?”

Liu Kexin’s breathing quickened, and she involuntarily said, ”Okay.”

Hearing this, Lu Li scooped her up in a princess carry and walked towards the bed.

Liu Kexin quickly wrapped her arms around his neck and asked, breathing heavily, ”What... what do you want to do?”

Lu Li held her with one hand and lifted the blanket with the other, ”Not much, just letting you catch up on sleep.”

With that, he gently laid Liu Kexin back on the bed.

Lu Li picked up the remote control to turn on the air conditioner while covering her with the blanket.

After finishing these actions, he leaned down to kiss Liu Kexin’s forehead, ”Get some good sleep, and look for me in my room when you wake up.”

Lu Li turned and was about to head out.

Liu Kexin suddenly grabbed his hand, ”I can’t fall asleep just yet, maybe... could you chat with me for a while?”

Although in the car earlier, she ultimately tacitly accepted holding hands, she had never directly expressed herself.

And now, she was unexpectedly this proactive?

Lu Li felt a bit surprised, reversed his grip on her hand.

He sat down on the edge of the bed, ”What would you like to talk about with me?”

Liu Kexin opened her lips, hesitated, but couldn’t make a sound.

In truth, she really wanted to ask why Lu Li was so hot and cold.

She also wanted to ask if he had any interesting experiences in the Ugly Country over the past few days.

Or rather, Liu Kexin was eager to know everything about Lu Li.

But due to her nature, she found it hard to ask.

Honestly, Liu Kexin didn’t know why she had become so ”timid” and ”dependent”.

It was as if Lu Li had some sort of magic power, and every time she got close to him, she would involuntarily fall for him.

Like now, she seemed to smell an intoxicating fragrance, making her whole being immerse in it.

Lu Li reached out to stroke her hair and said in a gentle tone, ”You can ask me anything, and I’ll answer honestly.”

”It tickles.” Liu Kexin said, but didn’t pull away. Instead, she asked, ”Is there anything you want to tell me?”

Lu Li brushed the hair from her forehead, looking directly into her bright eyes, ”Yes.”

Liu Kexin looked at him and asked, ”What?”

Lu Li smiled, ”I asked you last time, didn’t I? But you didn’t give me an answer.”

Mentioning this, Liu Kexin’s eyes, which were initially somewhat warm, turned a bit dim.

She sighed and said, ”I don’t know how to answer.”

Lu Li continued to play with her hair, leaning slightly closer to her.

He said, ”What’s so hard to answer?”

Liu Kexin said helplessly, ”There’s just too much to consider.”

Lu Li reached out to hug her shoulder.

Liu Kexin naturally lifted herself a bit, allowing Lu Li’s hand to slip through.

Lu Li didn’t notice this, just hugged her shoulder and said, ”I remember you said last time that you could be like your cousin, giving up the right to inherit for love, but you’re uncertain about many things, worried about my future...”

Liu Kexin suddenly struggled, tilted her head slightly, and widened her eyes, ”I didn’t say those things to you, did I?”

Lu Li broke into a cold sweat, as he had used telepathy to overhear her inner thoughts, and Liu Kexin indeed hadn’t said those words.

However, memories can be vague.

He feigned ignorance, saying, ”Really? How come I remember you saying that?”

Liu Kexin was a bit dizzy, wondering to herself or asking Lu Li, confused, ”Did I really say that?”

Lu Li deliberately guided her, ”Didn’t you also say at the time, what if I become a heartbreaker? Or, what if your family, in a fit of anger, tries to hurt me? Do you really not remember?”

Liu Kexin hadn’t slept all night; her mind wasn’t exactly clear.

Moreover, with Lu Li’s deliberate guidance, she started to suspect she might have actually said those things.

So, she hesitantly said, ”Yeah, if I agree, what if you break my heart? What if my family tries to hurt you?”

Lu Li deliberately didn’t answer the first question.

He directly answered the second question, ”Your family couldn’t possibly hurt me.”

Liu Kexin thought Lu Li didn’t understand, so she carefully explained, ”You don’t really understand my family’s situation...”

Lu Li interrupted, ”I know, but I can tell you confidently that no matter the means, your family can’t hurt me.”

Liu Kexin asked, puzzled, ”Are you that confident?”

Lu Li looked at her with deep eyes and said, ”I wonder if Chen Man Ni has ever told you anything, but if she has, you should understand what I mean.”

Liu Kexin shook her head, ”She hasn’t told me anything about you.”

Lu Li was a little surprised, not expecting Chen Man Ni to keep such a good secret, not even mentioning it to anyone.

He casually said, ”Some things aren’t convenient to reveal yet, but you can think about how I single-handedly rescued Chen Man Ni and her husband from the robbers. If you can figure that out, you should know your family couldn’t possibly harm me.”

Liu Kexin fell into deep thought, seemingly pondering what was going on.

After a while, she timidly asked, almost in disbelief, ”Are you really a Martial Arts Grandmaster and not just a fighter like I initially thought?”

Lu Li teased her, ”Pretty much. Anyway, when I unleash my power, bullets are useless.”

Liu Kexin laughed, ”Unleash your power? Do you think you’re a great sage?”

Lu Li laughed heartily, then bowed his head and asked, ”Now that you understand your family couldn’t possibly hurt me, are you willing to answer the question I asked several times before?”

Liu Kexin took a deep breath, ”I... I...”

Lu Li seized the moment, ”Would you agree to be my girlfriend?”

As he said this, he did not release any high-level life pheromones.

Lu Li only wanted to hear Liu Kexin’s true thoughts from the depths of her heart.

After hesitating several times, Liu Kexin finally mustered up the courage and softly said, ”Mm.”

Oh!

She really agreed?

Lu Li felt a bit surprised.

Since he left the airport until now, he hadn’t once used high-level life pheromones on Liu Kexin.

Yet, she gave a definite answer, clearly indicating she truly liked him.

It’s not surprising that she likes him.

The surprising thing is that, after his time with Julia Giannini, Lu Li understood that high-level life pheromones were only effective when released.

So why, after so long without using them on Liu Kexin, is she still so enthusiastic?

More so, becoming even more ”intense”?

Suddenly, he remembered the second time he increased the use of high-level life pheromones on Julia Giannini, and even during their separation, she remained passionately infatuated.

Could it be... that multiple uses on the same person leave a ”branding mark”?

Like how people become dependent on smoking after too much exposure?

If that’s true, wouldn’t frequent use of high-level life pheromones on someone allow you to enslave them?

Lu Li was unsure if this was the case.

However, he was more inclined to believe Liu Kexin truly fell in love with him, wholeheartedly.

No matter what the reality was, Lu Li felt wonderful now.

He finally had a girlfriend, and it was someone he also liked!

Without hesitation, he turned over and kissed Liu Kexin again.

Perhaps having taken that step, Liu Kexin became much more enthusiastic.

Not only did she actively embrace Lu Li, but she also responded as passionately as she could.

Though her actions were somewhat clumsy, she was genuinely passionate.

Feeling her enthusiasm, Lu Li grew bolder, reaching out to touch her.

Liu Kexin suddenly opened her eyes and stopped Lu Li’s advancing hand.

Because her mouth was covered, her speech was somewhat unclear, ”Why are you being such a rogue?”

Lu Li released her lips, ”You’re my girlfriend. If I’m not a rogue to you, then to whom?”

With that, he advanced his hand again.

Liu Kexin insisted on holding him back, ”No, no.”

Lu Li knew he could easily take advantage, but respecting her wishes, he asked, ”Why not?”

Liu Kexin said, ”No means no. I just agreed to be your girlfriend, and you’re thinking about taking advantage? How is that right? No, no.”

She’s a traditional young woman, so it’s normal to be conservative in such matters.

You can’t rush these things; Lu Li didn’t push her any further.

He blinked and asked, ”So, can I hold you while I take a nap to adjust to the time difference?”

Liu Kexin said, ”You have to promise not to do anything bad.”

Lu Li nodded, ”Alright.”

Hey, sleeping together and not doing anything bad, isn’t that up to me anyway?
