Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 235: Chapter 215: What Are You Doing?

In the morning, after almost a sleepless night, Lu Li, Zhang Guocheng, and the others arrived at the airport early.

Cameron was indeed reliable, helping Lu Li and his group of about ten people all book first-class tickets.

International flights often have between four to twelve first-class seats.

The Airbus A380 that Lu Li, Zhang Guocheng, and their group were taking happened to have twelve first-class seats.

As a result, besides Lu Li, Zhang Guocheng, and the others, there was only one young woman in the first-class cabin who wasn’t with their group.

First-class cabins on international flights, aside from having relatively private spaces and seats that can recline for sleeping, also offer several premium services not available in economy class, such as better food, entertainment equipment, and so on.

Most importantly, first-class has complimentary wireless internet.

This point was quite satisfactory to Lu Li.

At that moment, he was holding his phone and checking the chat messages on WeChat.

Lu Li had never actively left the WeChat work group for Vox.

Manager Wang, Brother Cheng, and he had quite a good relationship.

Naturally, no one had kicked him out.

In the group, Xiaoqing and Xiaozhao were saying their goodbyes to everyone.

Xiaoqing and Xiaozhao basically meant to thank everyone in the department for their care and hoped to treat everyone to a ”farewell dinner” when there was a chance.

Everyone followed up with them, asking questions for a long time.

For instance, which new company they had joined and how their salaries were.

Xiaoqing and Xiaozhao didn’t reveal much, only giving a rough idea of their salaries.

Brother Cheng seemed quite shocked after hearing this, asking the two several times in the group uncertainly, ”How much?”

At that time, Lu Li didn’t think much of it.

Who would have thought, just after he exited WeChat, Xiaoqing immediately sent a message.

Xiaoqing: Boss, Brother Cheng just privately chatted, asking if Xiaozhao and I were working for you. I answered yes, and he seemed quite regretful.

Lu Li shook his head.

Back then, the first person he thought of was Brother Cheng.

Unfortunately, the other party was reluctant to leave the position of deputy manager and didn’t want to come help him work.

Now he feels regretful after hearing about Xiaoqing and Xiaozhao’s good pay?

He couldn’t help but feel speechless, deciding to ignore Xiaoqing’s message.

Just then, another message came through, this time it was from Liu Kexin.

Liu Kexin: Are you back? The two people you poached officially resigned today.

To be honest, Lu Li didn’t expect Liu Kexin to send a message.

He had been deliberately avoiding her for a while.

The main reason was that he wanted to be a jerk, while Liu Kexin wanted ”true love.”

Lu Li hesitated for a moment and replied: The plane just took off, I’ll have to transfer once, and I expect to arrive in Shanghai in over thirty hours.

Liu Kexin: Oh, will you be staying when you return?

Lu Li: I guess so.

Liu Kexin: Should I send a driver to pick you up at the airport?

Lu Li thought for a moment, then said: Sure, that would be helpful.

Liu Kexin asked for the specific time and then didn’t send any more messages.

After sending the message, Lu Li sat there frowning, thinking to himself, ”Should I continue to mess with her?”

To be honest, he quite liked Liu Kexin and was willing to take some responsibility, but the gap between himself and ordinary people was just too big.

Who knows if, after evolving to a certain stage, he might end up like the immortals in mythical novels and break through the void to the ”Immortal Realm”?

Lu Li wanted to pursue Liu Kexin, but feared breaking her heart.

That’s why he hesitated.

While pondering this,

Zhang Guocheng walked up from behind, ”Mr. Lu, could I have a word?”

Lu Li lowered his legs from the oversized footrest and gestured to a spot, ”Sit and let’s talk.”

”Ah, thank you.” Zhang Guocheng sat down, looking grateful, and said, ”Thanks to you, our mission was successfully completed.”

Lu Li waved his hand and said, ”It’s nothing, where is he?”

Zhang Guocheng said, ”He can’t return to the country through normal channels, Old Zhou will find a way to send him back. Oh, by the way, your gold and silver jewelry is hard to offload in Mexico, you know why, so Old Zhou’s idea is he needs to transfer them a few times before he can convert it into cash and deposit it into the Swiss Bank account. It might take four or five days.”

Lu Li certainly knew why.

Because this gold and silver jewelry belonged to the Jalisco Group.

If he tried to sell it off in Mexico rashly, it would likely lead to disaster.

He nodded, ”There’s no rush with that; let Old Zhou take his time.”

Zhang Guocheng quickly said, ”Thank you for understanding, and those experiment notes you gave, I took photos and sent them back to China, and they say they hold great research value.”

Lu Li, with his photographic memory, had memorized everything in the experiment notes before handing them over to Zhang Guocheng.

It wasn’t a big deal.

However, when Lu Li heard the matter being brought up, he thought of something and proactively asked, ”Oh, by the way, is there any subatomic particle synthesis research institute back home?”

Zhang Guocheng replied, ”Yes, in Shenzhen Town, Shanghai, Beijing, and Shen Yang, there are particle physics and nuclear physics research institutes. If you need anything, I can contact those institutes.”

Lu Li did have needs in this regard, ”Mm, once I’m back and free, I’ll reach out to you to help make some introductions.”

Zhang Guocheng agreed, ”Okay, just let me know when the time comes.”

Afterwards, the two chatted for a while longer before Zhang Guocheng returned to his seat.

Once the other party left, Lu Li began to ponder the subatomic particles of ”volcanic ash rock.”

He could use his microscopic vision to condense these subatomic particles.

But to apply them to civilian, military, and other fields, it’s definitely impossible to rely solely on his own microscopic vision to condense them.

Because these subatomic particles release a large amount of energy upon annihilation and don’t have negative effects like nuclear radiation, Lu Li was considering whether to initiate a ”high-efficiency clean energy” project.

To establish such a project, it would definitely depend on technology to synthesize ”volcanic ash rock” subatomic particles.

This is why he wanted research institutes to try to see if they could synthesize them.

If it could really be artificially synthesized, Lu Li could confidently say that Earth’s civilization would take a big step forward!

Of course, his enlightenment wasn’t that high.

The reason Lu Li wanted to explore artificial synthesis was entirely because he knew the immense value of these subatomic particles and wanted to capitalize on that!

...

More than thirty hours flew by.

During this period, Lu Li and the others transferred at Haneda Airport, staying for about twelve hours before successfully returning to Modong Airport.

It was just five in the morning.

Lu Li bid farewell to Zhang Guocheng, Xiaolin, Wang Yu, and the others before heading to the arrival gate to find Liu Kexin’s driver.

Unexpectedly, he didn’t see the driver but instead spotted Liu Kexin herself over there.

Seeing this, Lu Li was momentarily taken aback.

It’s about a two-hour drive from Su City to Modong Airport, and it’s only five in the morning now.

This means that even if no time was wasted, she must have left Su City around two in the morning.

Did she not sleep the entire night?

Lu Li felt a bit touched as he thought about this.

He walked up with his luggage and greeted, ”Kexin.”

Liu Kexin’s face looked a bit tired.

She maintained her usual indifferent expression and said, ”Hmm, you’re back? Let’s go, my car’s outside.”

Today, she seemed to have deliberately dressed up, her bob hair neatly styled, her face adorned with delicate makeup, and she even wore a rare white dress with small floral patterns, looking exceptionally beautiful.

Lu Li responded and followed her forward.

Liu Kexin casually explained, ”My driver slept really late last night, so I couldn’t bear to disturb her, so I came myself.”

Lu Li thought to himself, I didn’t even ask you that question, your rush to explain only means you’re covering something up.

They engaged in a bit of light conversation as they went outside.

Then, considering she might not have slept all night, Lu Li voluntarily sat in the driver’s seat to drive.

The car slowly left the airport.

Lu Li glanced at Liu Kexin in the passenger seat, who was constantly yawning, and asked, ”Did you not sleep all night?”

Liu Kexin, who loved saying the opposite of what she felt, denied, ”No, I slept.”

Lu Li pressed, ”Where did you sleep?”

Liu Kexin gazed straight ahead, fabricating, ”In a hotel.”

Lu Li questioned further, ”Which hotel?”

Liu Kexin was momentarily speechless, silent for a long time before reluctantly blurting out a hotel name, ”Home Inn?”

Lu Li retorted in irritation, ”You would stay at Home Inn? You just saw a Home Inn billboard and thought of it, right?”

Liu Kexin chose not to respond, acting as if she hadn’t heard, looking out the window.

Lu Li was now thoroughly convinced, she indeed hadn’t slept all night, just to come and pick him up.

Honestly, he couldn’t understand why Liu Kexin insisted on personally picking him up.

However, he understood one thing; no matter how he asked, Liu Kexin would certainly not answer truthfully.

This didn’t deter him.

Lu Li unhesitatingly activated telepathy, exploring the thoughts within her heart.

He deliberately asked again, ”Why did you insist on personally picking me up?”

Liu Kexin vehemently denied, ”No, just couldn’t sleep.”

Her thoughts almost echoed simultaneously, sounding somewhat resentful: ”You used to be quite enthusiastic with me, but ever since that night I didn’t give a definite answer, you’ve become silent, and even while you were in ’Ugly Country,’ you didn’t think to send me a message. I just wanted to see you as soon as possible, so I drove to pick you up.”

Hearing her inner voice, Lu Li truly felt a mix of emotions.

He was indeed avoiding her.

But he really didn’t expect Liu Kexin to long for him so intensely.

She was even willing to stay up all night just to see him first thing.

Lu Li didn’t say anything more and directly reached out to hold her hand.

Liu Kexin was initially startled, then her face turned slightly red, and she whispered, ”What are you doing? If someone sees, it won’t look good.”

Lu Li chuckled and replied, ”We’re in the car, who’s going to see?”

Liu Kexin’s reserved nature compelled her to say, ”And you didn’t ask if I’d like to hold hands.”

Lu Li took advantage of the red light ahead, stopped the car, turned his head and sincerely asked, ”So, do you... would you like to?”
