Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 228: Chapter 209: The Ancestors Are Furious

Los Angeles and Tijuana aren’t very far apart, with a direct distance of just over two hundred kilometers.

Normally, entering the Ugly Country from Tijuana requires border checks, but going from Los Angeles, generally no one checks; at most, they’ll take a photo of your car.

Lu Li, Zhang Guocheng, and the others took advantage of the night and boarded a minibus, just crossing through this border check.

The night outside was dense, and inside the vehicle, Zhang Guocheng was advising everyone, ”In a bit, we’ll reach our destination, remember, the Jalisco Group is an extremely brutal, inhumane organization. If you fall into their hands, you’ll find it impossible to live or die, so be sure to stay safe.”

”Understood, Director Zhang.”

”We will stay safe.”

Xiaolin, Old Wu, and Wang Yu responded softly.

Lu Li leaned against the window, lost in thought.

All along the way, Zhang Guocheng had been talking about the horrors of the Jalisco Group.

To be honest, initially, he didn’t harbor much animosity towards this group.

However, after hearing Zhang Guocheng’s accounts, he began to understand just how monstrously insane this group truly was.

It is said that the Jalisco Group, besides committing various street violence, kidnapping, and murder, also carry out a series of appalling, wrath-arousing cruel acts.

For instance, those who report on the group are often tortured for thirty-six hours, kept conscious with amphetamines, and then subjected to gruesome methods like beheading, dismemberment, and being burned alive.

Many methods have surpassed the moral limits of humanity, heinous to the extreme.

Even someone like Lu Li, indifferent to life, felt a slight antipathy when hearing about those terrible acts.

He was indifferent to life, but would definitely not slaughter life like the Jalisco Group.

”Should I eliminate this group’s Tijuana branch?”

The thought wandered through Lu Li’s mind but was quickly dismissed by him.

They were secretly heading to Tijuana, and causing a commotion could make it very difficult to escape.

...

About an hour later.

The vehicle stopped in a deserted area on the outskirts.

Ahead, there was another parked bus.

Perhaps noticing the arrival of the minibus.

A short, stout Huaxia man stepped off the bus first.

Then, gradually, two or three dozen fully-armed young men, all Huaxians, alighted.

Zhang Guocheng went down to communicate, while the others waited in the vehicle.

Although Lu Li did not disembark, his strong hearing allowed him to hear the conversation between the two sides.

The short, stout middle-aged man seemed to be the leader of another group, called ”Zhou Jinming.”

After some pleasantries with Zhang Guocheng, Zhou Jinming said at once, ”After receiving the information you provided, we have already locked down the situation of the Tijuana branch of the Jalisco group. Drone aerial photography can transmit real-time conditions from there. Later, our task team will break in at the first instance to rescue Jin Zhouzhou. You just wait here.”

Zhang Guocheng, expressionless, said, ”No need for such trouble. If you make a move, the commotion will be too big and might cause very undesirable negative impacts internationally. We have experts on our side, let them handle it. You just need to provide real-time aerial information, nothing else.”

”Ah?”

”You don’t need us to do anything?”

”Director Zhang, we’ve all got our gear on, what do you mean by this?”

All the people behind Zhou Jinming were shouting, appearing very dissatisfied.

Zhang Guocheng ignored them and frowned at Zhou Jinming, ”These are the people you brought?”

Though Zhou Jinming was also unhappy with Zhang Guocheng using his authority, he knew the hierarchy, and could only gesture with a suppressed anger for everyone to shut up.

Everyone puffed up and stayed silent.

Zhou Jinming said, ”Before you send someone over, I at least have to meet them, right?”

”It’s inviting over, not sending. When you see Mr. Lu later, be polite.”

After warning them, Zhang Guocheng turned his head towards the vehicle with a smile, gesturing.

Lu Li disembarked and walked towards the group.

”Is he up to it?”

”He doesn’t seem strong.”

”Hopefully, he won’t mess things up later.”

The group showed perplexed expressions upon seeing Lu Li descend.

Initially, Zhou Jinming’s side expected Zhang Guocheng to send some sort of expert over, but upon seeing Lu Li, who appeared slender despite a decent height, they all gave skeptical looks.

Though Lu Li overheard the group’s whispers, he didn’t mind at all.

Knowing that Zhou Jinming’s group doubted him, Lu Li stepped forward frankly and said, ”Give me the specific location of the Jalisco Group’s branch; you just wait here.”

Hearing this, Zhou Jinming raised an eyebrow.

The expressions of the two or three dozen fully-armed men behind him turned sour, feeling disregarded by Lu Li.

However, Zhang Guocheng was the main person in charge of this operation.

Even if Zhou Jinming and his two or three dozen men were displeased, they knew better than to argue.

Suppressing his discomfort, Zhou Jinming pointed westward, ”About a kilometer from here is an abandoned factory, which is the Jalisco Group branch. On the surface, it’s an abandoned factory, but inside it’s intricately concealed. It contains three tanks, five armored cars, two combat helicopters, and over a hundred well-trained warriors. Additionally, there’s a large basement used partially as a laboratory and partially for the group’s goods and temporarily non-liquid assets like gold and gemstones. This information was collected through various means and may not be entirely accurate.”

Lu Li followed Zhou Jinming’s direction, activating his superpowers to observe.

The next moment, he saw around the abandoned factory, seven or eight rifle-armed individuals were patrolling.

Using his x-ray vision to scan the interior, he indeed saw several armored vehicles, tanks, and combat helicopters.

Besides these, there were over a hundred people sleeping in various spots inside the factory.

In what might have been an office before, now converted into a small bedroom, Jin Zhouzhou lay sleeping inside.

Although he found Jin Zhouzhou, Lu Li did not stop observing the situation.

He continued to use his x-ray vision to check inside the basement.

On the left side, there was a rather high-end human laboratory.

Inside, besides a lot of advanced instruments, there were rows of things similar to operating tables, stained with crimson blood all around.

From the color and freshness of the blood, it could be inferred that a human dissection had just taken place recently.

Indeed, Lu Li saw that on the other side of the room, a wooden barrel was stuffed with various human organs and severed limbs, making it all seem very eerie and terrifying.

Most crucially, judging from a few of the arms and legs, it seemed like three or four of them were children.

Seeing this, Lu Li’s anger was ignited.

He had long heard from Zhang Guocheng and others that the Jalisco Group was utterly inhumane, but he never imagined they would be so heartless as to not even spare children.

Suppressing the anger in his heart, he looked in another direction.

The northern east side room contained many chemical drugs.

On the west side, there were several large safes.

Inside these large safes, a large amount of gold and various jewels were piled up.

That was not important.

What’s important is, on the southern east side, there were many ”cages” filled with about a dozen or twenty people, both men and women, young and old, with the youngest being a little white girl, estimated to be only four or five years old.

In all likelihood, based on previous observations, this little white girl would probably be the next target for human experimentation.

Seeing this, Lu Li was furious, driven by a desire to immediately eliminate this group of scum.

However, the task was urgent, and Lu Li did not immediately show any abnormal emotions on his face. He focused on getting Jin Zhouzhou back first.

With that in mind, he used telepathy from a distance to command Jin Zhouzhou to come towards him.

Perhaps seeing Lu Li standing still over there made Zhou Jinming unable to resist asking, ”Mr. Lu, are you confident about getting the person back?”

Lu Li, now only thinking about killing, replied coldly, ”The person will be here soon.”

Zhang Guocheng: ”???.”

Zhou Jinming: ”???.”

The remaining twenty or thirty people: ”???.”

Everyone looked bewildered, unable to understand what this meant.

...

Abandoned factory.

Jin Zhouzhou dumbly got up from the bed and walked towards the outside of the factory.

As soon as he reached outside, one of the patrollers named Juarez Moyano immediately looked over and greeted him in English, ”Mr. Jin, awake so early?”

Jin Zhouzhou grunted in response, ”Couldn’t sleep, I’m going for a walk, I’ll come back and sleep some more later.”

Juarez Moyano didn’t think much of it either, ”Okay, don’t go too far.”

Jin Zhouzhou nodded lightly, then put his hands in his pockets and walked slowly forward as if he were on a stroll.

Because Jin Zhouzhou belongs to the California Eighteenth Street.

Thus, the Jalisco Group’s people had no authority to constrain his actions.

Furthermore, he was only going for a walk because he couldn’t sleep.

Juarez Moyano and others didn’t think much of it.

...

About twelve minutes passed.

Zhou Jinming, Zhang Guocheng, and Xiaolin, Old Wu, Wang Yu, who had just gotten out of the car, all continuously cast curious glances at Lu Li.

They had been standing with Lu Li in the night breeze for about ten minutes and hadn’t seen him make a move, leaving each of them extremely puzzled, not knowing what he was planning to do.

Zhang Guocheng, Xiaolin, and Old Wu, who knew the particulars about Lu Li, did not dare to ask.

Zhou Jinming couldn’t hold back, ”Mr. Lu, can you really bring the person out? If not, I’ll have my people...”

Before he could finish his sentence, Lu Li pointed forward and said, ”Look, isn’t the person back already?”

What?

Back already?

Everyone was stunned and involuntarily followed the direction Lu Li was pointing.

Sure enough, they found a thin figure walking along the riverbank under the night sky.

”It really is Jin Zhouzhou!”

”Uh, how did he come back on his own?”

Zhou Jinming, Zhang Guocheng, Old Wu, and others were all in a daze, not understanding what was happening.

However, upon taking a closer look, they confirmed it was indeed Jin Zhouzhou and couldn’t think much further.

Immediately, three or four people rushed over and pinned him to the ground to tie him up.

Lu Li paid no attention to their whispered exclamations of surprise or whether Jin Zhouzhou was caught.

He squinted his eyes towards the abandoned factory, ”Wait here for me.”

Zhang Guocheng was taken aback, ”What are you going to do?”

Zhou Jinming and the remaining forty or fifty people were equally confused.

Lu Li’s figure slowly floated into the air, his tone colder than ice, saying, ”Kill!”
