Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 338: Revised: Volume 4, Chapter 69 Hunter_3

Fatty’s face was beaming with a broad smile.

There weren’t any chickens stupider than this, letting a weasel stand beside them—how fucking embarrassing!

It wasn’t Torick’s first time collaborating with Fatty in such performances. Back during the rescue mission behind enemy lines, to encircle and kill two [Vajra], Fatty had used this trick before.

This time, the two old partners cooperated closely again, their acting even more refined. The panic and fear of the pursued and the cruelty and urgency of the pursuers, along with the differing reactions when both sides discovered the Desic troops, were all executed seamlessly and brilliantly.

Wassim couldn’t have dreamed that the hundred or so Federation Mecha chasing the [Vajra] from the southeast direction actually looped around from the north, crossing the path of the 137th Division, and collided head-on, with only a ten-minute time difference in between.

He couldn’t have imagined either that the [Vajra], battered with multiple hits and with its external armor almost torn to shreds, frantically escaping west under the relentless close-range assault of the Federation Mecha, was the same ragged [Magic Beast] that killed Aistrazzi’s brother and toyed with the Hunter Corps for over four hours.

”From where it came, naturally, it will return to where it ran.” Human’s habitual thinking, the realistic pursuit, and the highest grade [Vajra] Mecha unique to the Gazalin Mythical Army, along with the credit for discovering new Federation Mecha, all led Wassim almost immediately into Fatty’s trap! He commanded his troops to wildly chase towards the southeast!

”Commander, be careful! Those Federation Mecha are formidable!” The toady beside Wassim had a boot-licking face.

”Formidable?!” Wassim glanced contemptuously at the [Vajra] beside him, frowned—originally a tall and mighty Mecha, but somehow, with this guy piloting it, it seemed to exude a sleazy odor, and he despised it in his heart: ”These bumpkins who haven’t seen the world!” He said indifferently: ”Hmph, even if it’s a Ninth Generation Mecha, in the Desic Empire, they’re everywhere. Besides, considering the Leray Federation’s strength... heh heh...” His implication was naturally dismissive of this ’formidable’ statement.

”Of course... of course...” Fatty flattered obsequiously: ”Compared to your country, these Mecha are just for show.” He turned his head to look at the Desic Mecha team still maintaining a very neat formation despite the rapid pursuit, and praised, ”Not to mention anything else, just look at your division’s military quality, those Federation kids can’t compare!”

Wassim didn’t answer, but inwardly he felt quite pleased, secretly admiring that this [Vajra] had a good eye. Since he took over the 137th Division, he had put a lot of effort into training, and finally someone recognized it. Feeling proud, he shouted, ”Increase the speed!”

Under Wassim’s urging, the vanguards of the two flanks of the 137th Division’s armored group soon caught up with Torick and others who intentionally slowed their pace.

The flanking Desic Mecha of the 137th Division, while marching, were eager to take down the Leray Mecha in front, which they had chased with all their might. A barrage of intense firepower erupted in an instant, covering the entire area where the fleeing Federation Mecha were located.

However, to their disappointment, those Federation Mecha were like squirrels swiftly darting through the forest, zigzagging and dodging unpredictably at a rapid pace. Even with such intense fire, they didn’t suffer any damage.

”Idiots!” Wassim cursed through gritted teeth and shouted, ”Flanks, don’t be distracted, penetrate directly and surround them from the front! The middle section, increase speed and pin them down with firepower!”

As Wassim’s words just fell, suddenly, that company of Leray Mecha, as if hearing his command, suddenly turned and pounced towards the left flank. The accelerating Desic left-flank Mecha were caught off guard and panicked, and amidst a chaotic crossfire, over a hundred Leray Mecha like a sharp blade charged diagonally through the front of the left flank, breaking out of the 137th Division’s encirclement.

”Second regiment, if you can’t hold them, don’t bother coming back!” Seeing the left flank effortlessly broken through on the radar, Wassim flew into a rage, his earlier pride and calmness instantly vanished.

The left-flank second regiment knew the commander was furious, and they all desperately increased their speed, clinging tightly to the fleeing Leray Mecha. However, the previously tight formation was now a complete mess.

”Attack!” Fatty, who had been following beside Wassim, saw the opportunity and immediately gave a vicious command through the regional communication channel.

At the very moment the entire 137th Division collectively turned, the hundred [Hunters] who had been desperately fleeing suddenly stopped as if they hit an invisible wall, and in the eerie sudden halt, they rebounded back, like a hundred arrows, densely puncturing the chaotic formation of the 137th Division’s left-flank second regiment. In groups of two [Hunters] against one Desic [Black Armed], they fought with precision, their fingers like blades, punching and kicking.

In front of these wolfish Ninth Generation assassin special mecha, the unprotected and distanced Seventh Generation [Black Armed] were completely outclassed. Especially with the [Hunters] firmly executing Fatty’s outnumbering tactics, in the localized battle, the Desic Mecha facing two [Hunters] were almost all obliterated, and one after another erupted in flames and exploded.
