Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 306: Volume 4, Chapter 57: Artificial Cave

Just as Tian Xingjian had guessed, Bonnie indeed had acrophobia; this was her most hidden weakness, even Reinhardt didn’t know. Unexpectedly, in her panic, it was exposed in front of the conniving Fatty.

As a Mecha Warrior, leaping and maneuvering on cliffs was unavoidable. Fortunately, acrophobia sufferers only wouldn’t have an episode if they didn’t directly face dizzying heights. Bonnie’s modified [Mika] with its fully enclosed simulated control system completely helped her overcome the fear brought by facing heights directly. This is why she persisted in using a sixth-generation private mecha even after [Vajra] was produced.

In this unfamiliar mecha, flying and leaping from danger to survival was an experience Bonnie had never felt before. Unexpectedly, at the last moment, she jumped off the cliff with her eyes wide open.

Although she had already cursed the Fatty who tied her to his ”pirate ship” in her heart, when the rocks loosened, looking at the endless abyss beneath her, Bonnie instinctively clung to Fatty like a drowning person grabbing a floating straw.

”Groan!” The rock tilted downward again, causing Bonnie to scream once more.

On this steep cliff, there was nothing but a few crooked small trees and this protruding rock. There was no place for the over ten-ton [Logic] to set foot. Seeing the rock loosening bit by bit, Fatty knew he couldn’t wait any longer. He pulled the control lever, [Logic]’s right hand pulled, and the entire body leapt into the air, directly heading towards the cliff above the rock.

As [Logic] leapt into the air, its right arm spikes fiercely pierced into the stone wall. Its feet kicked several times on the cliff, forcibly creating two shallow hollows. Just as it stood firm, the protruding rock below couldn’t endure anymore and with a crack, the rear part inserted into the cliff completely broke off and fell into the abyss amidst countless rubble and soil. After a long time, the sound of rocks hitting the bottom of the cliff could be heard.

”Whew!” Tian Xingjian breathed a sigh of relief and wiped his cold sweat. He could clearly hear Bonnie’s heart pounding on his back. For a moment, the cockpit was silent. Only the system’s red warning lights kept reminding the two that the mecha, with its left arm transmission rod broken and overall damage at seventy percent, no longer had the ability to climb out of here.

Stuck between heaven and earth, Tian Xingjian knew unless he could restore [Logic]’s left arm function or repair the auxiliary thruster, he’d never be able to leave here. He looked around and saw the only place for him to repair [Logic] was the hollow formed by the falling rock below.

Half of the hollow was still blocked by the crumbling rock, the other half was open, dark and deep. According to Fatty’s estimation, it was impossible to fit all of [Logic] inside, but it could fit half and use the right arm to form a support under the cave entrance, making repairs barely possible.

[Logic] cautiously pulled out the right arm spike from the cliff. As the mecha slid downward momentarily, the right arm hooked onto the cave top, leveraging a kick to dislodge the loose rocks and explore within. Fatty didn’t expect, what he thought could only fit half of [Logic]’s body, to be so deep; with one kick, the entire body went into the cave.

As soon as they landed, Fatty felt Bonnie’s rapid breathing and a blow to the back of his neck. He chuckled, elbow struck backward fiercely at Bonnie’s abdomen, showing no mercy. Bonnie curled up in pain inside the cockpit, unable to straighten up.

Fatty rubbed his neck, picked up a rope and shook it, unceremoniously tying up Bonnie while muttering, ”Damn it, I’ve taught those kids countless times how to tie someone properly.” As he spoke, he fully implemented the SM method, swiftly tying Bonnie into curvy shapes, tying a knot, clapping his hands in satisfaction, nodded approvingly before Bonnie’s fiery gaze, and crawled out of the cockpit.

As soon as he stepped out of the cockpit, Fatty was stunned. This wasn’t the hollow he imagined, it was simply a tunnel! Inside was pitch black, and he had no idea how deep it went. He looked at the cave entrance, pondering how such a deep cave could exist behind a protruding rock.

He retrieved the automatic repair arm from [Logic]’s toolbox and noticed it felt heavier. Surprised by the intense geomagnetic interference in the ravine, if not for the high-strength engineering plastic of the repair arm, he wouldn’t be able to lift it, let alone repair [Logic].

Fatty opened [Logic]’s armor casing, started the automatic detection system with the battery, connected the repair arm with a data cable for manual inspection. The results were disheartening: the quick data on the electronic screen showed that damage to fundamental systems like energy, transmission, and balance couldn’t be fixed solely with the repair arm.

Nearly thirty parts needed replacement! Where in this desolate cave could he find parts? Even raw materials to make less precise replacements were missing! Using only the tools and parts in the toolbox, Fatty knew he could only restore fifty percent of [Logic]’s functionality at most. However, there was no solution for the critical left arm external transmission rod and auxiliary thruster.

Feeling despondent while looking at the repair arm’s data, Fatty’s peripheral vision caught something unusual—two smooth and straight parallel grooves on the cave wall opposite him. Turning around sharply, he saw the same grooves on the cave wall behind him.

Though he didn’t know the purpose of the four metal-gleaming grooves, one thing was clear: the cave was man-made! Looking towards the pitch darkness deeper in the cave, Fatty was both excited and curious. Finding artificial traces here meant there must be a path to the surface. Otherwise, how would the cave’s creators leave? What else lay deeper in the cave besides the exit?

After checking [Logic], Fatty decided to explore the cave’s depths. Who knows, he might find something useful. Moreover, the sudden appearance of an underground cave in this geomagnetic black hole valley was eerie. If this were a secret base of the Gazalin Empire, understanding the cave’s terrain and enemy situation before being discovered was basic knowledge for a Special Reconnaissance Soldier.

Fatty climbed into [Logic]’s cockpit and grabbed Bonnie, who was tied in an exaggeratedly provocative posture. Bonnie angrily yelled, ”What are you doing?”

Fatty raised an eyebrow and said, ”Just moving you to a new spot. Don’t scream like I’m trying to rape you!”

Bonnie’s face softened a bit, but then the scoundrel reluctantly added, ”Or else, scream a bit more. Maybe I’ll be so aggrieved that I’ll grant your wish and make your dream come true. Just take it as a life-saving favor.”

Bonnie bit her lip hard, her whole body trembling in anger.

Fatty gave a perverted smile, dragged Bonnie into the cave, and then climbed back into [Logic]. ”I’ll show you a magic trick, don’t blink!” He operated [Logic] to sit up, leaning against the cave wall, legs spread open. With a ”pop” sound, a highly flexible mechanical arm popped out from [Logic]’s crotch, curiously looking around.

”Wow, such a big one.”... That was Fatty’s voice.

Seeing the mechanical arm seemingly finding its target and reaching out toward her, Bonnie almost fainted. This Fatty had reached an indescribable level of shamelessness.

Fatty manipulated the mechanical arm to grab Bonnie and place her in [Logic]’s crotch area, then retracted the mechanical arm. [Logic]’s two mechanical hands covered the crotch, curling up and showing a highly pained expression, trapping Bonnie firmly inside.

”Ugh... keeping me in such a place!”... That was also Fatty’s voice. Bonnie really wanted to leap on this fat bastard and bite a piece of flesh off him!

Watching the world’s most abhorrent Fatty jump out of the cockpit, standing outside boastfully, taking a full set of special equipment from the toolbox, and shamelessly stripping completely naked in front of her to dress up, Bonnie was utterly deflated. This person had the thickest skin, zero sense of shame, and a mind filled with obscene thoughts. Trying to argue with such a person was truly self-humiliation.

As she lay on the cold ground, silently watching Fatty, who transformed into a Special Soldier, dress up neatly, and check his equipment with aesthetically pleasing proficiency, Bonnie felt a bit dazed. It was hard for her to describe her feelings at that moment, whether it was more of a sense of defeat or humiliation. The one thing she could be sure of was that at this moment, she was no longer that proud Bonnie who kept people at arm’s length. At least, not in front of this Fatty.

In front of this Fatty, for the first time in her life, Bonnie felt a sense of weakness and powerlessness. Her face reddened slightly; this feeling was especially strong when she leaned on Fatty’s broad back earlier.

”Fatty, don’t ever fall into my hands! I’ll definitely kill you!” Bonnie suddenly yelled in shame and annoyance at the Fatty who was preparing to walk deeper into the cave.

Fatty paused but eventually continued walking deeper into the cave without turning back, only mumbling, ”Rape first, then kill, how about that?”
