Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 302: Volume 4 Chapter 54 Ultimate Form

”Watch out!”

Fatty, who was leisurely teasing Bonnie, suddenly saw Bonnie’s face change drastically. His heart sank, and in a panic, [Logic]’s thruster burst forth, propelling the mecha backward with a backflip like a lit firecracker.

Almost simultaneously, the last two [Warhammer]s that had leapt forward began firing with all their might, disregarding the distance, their Energy Cannons blazing red streaks that whistled past [Logic]’s feet.

Just narrowly dodging the threat, [Logic] had yet to land when another two fiery arcs of energy bullets rose from the ground, forming a deadly arc in the air! These were fired by the two [Warhammer]s previously thrown into the bushes by landmines. Though their mobility systems were damaged, this did not affect their Energy Cannons, which now crossed fire with their comrades.

Two above, two below, making a death web that completely enveloped [Logic]!

”Damn it!” Fatty abruptly pulled the control stick, his right hand clicking rapidly on the keyboard, the clattering sound resembling a high-pitched, intense musical movement. In the air, [Logic] straightened, forcing a somersault.

”Boom, boom!” Two energy bullets hit [Logic], and his blue energy shield flashed with yellow light.

[Logic]’s body paused, auxiliary thrusters fully engaged again. The mecha, head downward and feet upward, plummeted towards the ground like a land-based missile. Upon contact, [Logic] curled up, pressing its spring-like arms against the ground, using the momentum to roll and spring back up like a giant bird into the distant bushes.

These evasive maneuvers were executed with lightning speed.

The rapid-fire shooting of the four [Warhammer]s barely missed [Logic], and a series of explosions turned an entire section of the bushland into flat ground in an instant!

When the [Warhammer]s’ barrels turned, [Logic] had already pulled out to a safe distance!

The [Warhammer]s ceased firing, and the field fell into an eerie silence!

At such close range, with such rapid fire, and such a tight bullet net, that battered [Magic Beast] had slipped through the death web’s gaps like a ghost at the last second. The sequence of movements was as precise as laser beams following a pre-determined trajectory, unbelievably accurate.

The four [Warhammer]s realized that this battered [Magic Beast] was not something they could capture on their own. Whenever it wished, it could disappear from their sight. Thus, they chose to cease fire.

Meanwhile, the golden [Warhammer] had stood up again.

Aistrazzi did not immediately engage in the battle. He merely stood there quietly, methodically removing the heavy external armor plates from the golden [Warhammer].

As the heavy external armor fell, the golden [Warhammer]’s streamlined frame, glowing with a blue hue, was revealed. This was the ultimate form of the combat-type [Warhammer]! Aistrazzi acknowledged the torn yet surprisingly capable [Magic Beast] as an opponent worthy of his full strength!

The golden [Warhammer] suddenly raised its head, body tensing slightly, like a tiger ready to pounce, emitting an intense killing intent!

Seeing the golden [Warhammer] suddenly lift its gaze, with eyes that seemed to pierce reality, the sixth sense honed by intense training caused Fatty to feel a shiver run down his spine, sensing danger lurking just beneath his nose.

The golden [Warhammer] moved! Its start was unbelievably fast, shooting forward like an arrow!

At that moment, [Logic]’s radar alarm sounded sharply.

On [Logic]’s radar and long-range viewer, the mass of the Desic Hunter Mecha Group appeared, swarming like a tide, thousands of various mechas crashing through the dense vegetation, destroying, crushing, and trampling the bushes into scattered debris and leaves.

”We’re done for!” Fatty’s face turned ashen. This time was different from before; the mechas on the radar spread out completely, extending wide on both sides, with the center slightly concave, like a large cloth ready to wrap something, with both corners already pulled tight! The mechas on both flanks had advanced past Fatty’s current position level! Once they closed in from both ends, no matter how skilled Fatty was, there was no way he could escape the siege of thousands of mechas!

[Logic] sprang up, firing a shot at the golden [Warhammer] charging at him like a thunderbolt! Without waiting to see if it hit, he turned and ran.

Aistrazzi’s hand speed had surpassed forty-five moves per second. The powerful mechanical legs of the golden [Warhammer] burst forth with force, swiftly cutting an arc to dodge the Energy Cannon, maintaining speed as it streaked toward [Logic] like a meteor.

”Boom,” the two Mechas, not more than forty meters apart, almost simultaneously activated their thrusters.

In the bushes, it was as if a roaring thunderclap had just passed by. The two Mechas, accelerating to their utmost speed, sliced through the dense thicket like cutting through waves, one in front of the other, moving with lightning speed.

This time, Fatty felt an immense pressure. The engine of Logic was already emitting a piercing screech, yet the golden Warhammer trailing closely behind, like a reaper with a scythe, mirrored every move he made. No matter how Fatty changed direction or faked maneuvers, the distance between them did not increase and was, in fact, slowly closing!

”Beep!”

Logic’s mechanical computer issued a sharp alarm; it was the signal that the Mecha had been locked onto by the enemy.

Fatty’s heart sank as he maximized his hand speed. With a counterclockwise turn of the joystick, he desperately stretched out his pinky finger to hit the leg joint control key on the far right of the keyboard. Logic twisted its foot and sidestepped just in time to dodge the whistling cannon shell.

With a ”whoosh,” the energy bullet whizzed past Logic and drilled into the shrubs in front of it. The explosion scattered dirt and grass shreds all around.

”Beep! Beep! Beep!” The alarms from Logic continued incessantly, piercing through the air maddeningly!

Two more energy bullets followed in quick succession, densely exploding like firecrackers, one after another, right next to Logic!

Fatty’s vision was starting to blur; he could no longer increase his hand speed.

Logic stumbled and rolled, running in a sorry state!

This was the gap.

A gap between speeds of forty motions per second and forty-five motions per second!

Aistrazzi sneered; the additional five motions not only allowed him to react to the prey’s directional changes but also enabled him to perform tracking shots at a pace of two shots every three seconds! The ultimate form of Warhammer, having shed thirty percent of its total weight in external armor, improved not just in speed but in every aspect!

Had it not been for the extremely crafty and unconventional evasive maneuvers of this Magic Beast, Aistrazzi could have guaranteed the battle would end within two kilometers!

Even now, despite the battered Magic Beast continuing to evade gunfire with its bizarre movements, Aistrazzi remained patient. The distance between him and his prey was steadily shrinking! Meanwhile, on both sides and behind, the Desic Hunter Mecha Group was closing in unbridled and at full speed!

No matter how cunning the fox, it will eventually fall to the hunter’s gun!

”Boom!” Running Logic shuddered as an energy cannon shell accurately struck its back! The energy shield, already at its minimal power to increase speed, turned a faint red. The already battered external armor now sported a gaping hole.

With the sharp alarm blaring, Fatty yanked the joystick, performing a desperate roll and abruptly changing direction to escape Warhammer’s energy cannon lock. He then executed over a dozen fake maneuvers to the left and right, completely throwing off Warhammer’s aim. They were back to the previous chase.

Just as he breathed a sigh of relief, Fatty felt an acute pain in his right hand, as if cramping from the sustained high-speed operations. Prolonged combat had pushed his hands to their limits, unable to maintain forty motions per second any longer!

Behind him, less than thirty meters away, was the golden Warhammer. On the Mecha radar, red dots representing the Desic Hunter Mecha Group were converging rapidly towards the center. The mechanical computer displayed a screen ful of yellow warnings from the malfunctioning system; the energy shield’s defense was down to fifty percent.

With difficulty, Fatty pressed the keys. He knew that with his current hand speed, it was impossible to turn and fight back. The thought of Warhammer’s prior strike still sent shivers down his spine. Turning around now was akin to courting death!

”Boom!” Another shell whizzed past. Logic dove to the side, flattening several small trees as it tried to get up, but Warhammer pounced on it like lightning, kicking towards Logic’s back.

”What to do?” Watching the dense bushes parting waves after waves before his eyes, seemingly endless, Fatty’s heart sank to an icy abyss. After holding off the enemy for two hours, he was finally in true peril!
