Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 337: Volume 4, Chapter 69 Hunter_2

This Special Mecha Unit, which has been living in war since its inception, is a killing machine with rich war experience, each of its parts hardened in battle.

Although, before arriving here, Fatty had clearly explained the flaws deliberately left in the new Vajra mecha during its initial design, even though the SM Second Group’s hundred Hunter mechas possess terrifying destructive power and weapons unimaginable to the enemy. To Rashid and Stewart, these grassroots commanders who had faced off against the Mythical Army head-on, the impression left by the Mythical Army was indeed too profound. If they could achieve a quiet infiltration and surprise the enemy, they would rather not provoke this army.

The Desiclerga Front Army’s 137th Armored Division finally discovered the whereabouts of the Leray Mecha Unit.

If it weren’t for a company of Leray’s new mechas bumping into the 137th Division’s artillery while chasing a Vajra mecha from the Mythical Army, it is uncertain how long this mysterious new Leray Armored Force could have remained hidden!

It’s worth knowing that the 137th Division had not discovered any traces of this unit; their initial search area was southwest of the Leray Armored Force’s original base.

When those hundreds of new mechas turned around to flee towards the southeast, the 137th Armored Division immediately and relentlessly pursued that company.

As a second-rate Armored Division eager to become a Level 1 main force, Commander Vagim had long been seeking an opportunity to prove that the 137th Armored Division was no longer the weak unit it once was!

Thus, although the 137th Division had the task of protecting the ground transportation line and only had less than two regiments involved in area lockdown, Vagim, embodying ambition and power with his large nose, chose to lead the team personally.

For he knew that the Empire’s third-ranked Hunter Mecha Group had just suffered a big loss at the hands of a Leray Mecha Soldier; a battered Magic Beast Ⅲ mecha had led over a thousand Eighth and Ninth Generation mechas around in the jungle for four to five hours, nearly ten top Ninth Generation Warhammer mechas were damaged or destroyed, and even the once invincible twin commanders were reduced to one.

Regarding this matter, Vagim once mocked Aistrazzi when they met, and because of this mockery, Aistrazzi pulled out the battlefield records to explain that if the 137th Division encountered such a mecha soldier, even the commander might be killed.

The two nearly fought over it, and the data led to its theft by Federation spies, who sent it back to the Leray Federation, creating a leak event that built a hero for that peaceful and weak nation.

The data theft enraged the Desic high command, who severely reprimanded Vagim.

Vagim did not argue. Although both he and Aistrazzi were Imperial Major Generals and his unit was much larger than Aistrazzi’s regiment, he knew what the gap between a second-rate unit and a Special-level troops in the Desic Empire meant.

It meant that in any conflict with Aistrazzi, he would eternally be the one reprimanded!

To change this situation, the only way was to find and defeat or annihilate that Leray Mecha Unit!

Then, he would like to see how a unit that defeated whole companies and regiments of the Leray Federation compared to one humiliated by a single person, and who was more qualified to speak with pride!

Vagim personally kept that Vajra beside him; he felt that this beast-shaped mecha, which appeared before him minutes ago and fled in panic under artillery fire, was his lucky star! Had it followed its original route, his forces, moving southwest, would never have discovered the Leray unit.

A whole company of new mechas, never seen in the Imperial Military Database, even capturing one or bringing back significant wreckage would be a great accomplishment! The shapes and engagement data recorded on the mecha’s recorder were invaluable to the Imperial military intelligence department for analyzing enemy armaments.

Even before the battle started, whether they won or lost, Wassim was delighted to find his merit book already ahead! Securing this Vajra, especially one of great interest to the Military Department but always elusive, would complete his merits beautifully!

Wassim was determined to seize all the credit before the 191st Division’s mecha group, advancing from west to east, arrived!

”Expand flanks! Full speed pursuit!”

Vagim almost roared the command! Since he had taken over, the second and fifth groups of the rigorously trained 137th Division immediately executed the order. The whole unit advanced like a Three-headed Dog, with the flanks and center forming three arrows, charging towards the southeast where the Leray mechas were fleeing.

Fatty hopped and jumped beside Wassim’s Thunder Warrior, strutting flamboyantly. This scoundrel repeated his trick, transforming into the Vajra again for a pursuit scene, only to find himself successfully mixed into the enemy ranks, standing beside the highest commander.
