Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 323: Volume 4, Chapter 65: Bizarre [Magic Beast]_2

However, using such moves against Fatty was like showing off one’s skills before an expert. ”Fat Bro” gave the little kid a kick, flying him away, and angrily said, ”How would I know if it’s friend or foe? Are you calling me Fat Bro? Call me Lord Jian!”

As he spoke, from a distance, the sound of energy cannons firing and explosions could be faintly heard.

Fatty was startled, activated the mecha’s long-range viewer, and felt a surge of joy. Since there were such sounds, it meant that the mechas appearing on the radar were from opposing forces engaging in combat. At least, these people were not specifically targeting him.

Activating [Logic], he had Little Pi connect the data cable to the mecha computer for assistance. Fatty’s right hand executed a move called ’Scattering Flowers’, his fingers rained down on the keyboard like a storm, and the mecha entered stealth mode, quietly creeping towards the side of the mecha group.

Moving in the opposite direction, the distance between [Logic] and those dozens of mechas rapidly closed. Fatty carefully avoided the path of the oncoming mecha group, hiding behind a dense bush on a small hill, poking his head out to look down the hill.

The mechas appearing in the long-range viewer were like a herd of wild horses, tearing through the underbrush, rolling forward, becoming clearer as the distance closed.

Leading the front was a modified [Mimosa] private mecha, a civilian mecha developed for women with almost no combat capabilities. Protecting her while fighting and retreating were five Leray Federation [Warrior Leaders].

Chasing closely behind were an Eighth Generation [Royal Banner] medium-sized mecha and over twenty Desic Empire Seventh Generation [Black Armed] standard Single Soldier Mechas.

Tian Xingjian, having been in hiding underground for over two months, had completely lost contact with the Freedom Front and Leray Federation. He knew nothing about the current war situation or the direction of Gazalin’s coup, and even less that a massive war in human society had fully erupted since he had jumped into the ravine.

Seeing the Federation mechas suddenly appear before him, Tian Xingjian was dumbfounded and anxious, thinking, ”How can Federation mechas be here, and being chased by the Desic Empire’s forces? Could it be that Ann Lei and the others have been here all along without being picked up? Did the few hours I fought for ultimately fall short for their escape? If so, what has become of them now? Are they still hiding in the vast jungles of the southern mountains, or have they been captured by the Desic Empire?”

A thousand thoughts and speculations surged in his mind all at once. Biting his teeth, Fatty made up his mind to find a way to rescue those few escaping Federation mechas and get some answers.

The situation for a few Federation mechas had become extremely critical. More than ten [Black Armed] mechas, led by that [Royal Banner], relentlessly used fierce firepower to slow the Federation mechas’ escape. The other ten [Black Armed] had split into two teams, encircling from both sides at full speed.

Countless energy cannons nearly swept over every escaping Federation mecha, with explosions sounding one after another. The dense barrage of shells, slicing through the cold air, formed a thick and intricate web of contrails.

The mechanical energy shield of the [Mimosa] was already beginning to flicker with a faint red glow, and the energy shields of the five [Warrior Leaders] protecting it were also flashing under the dense barrage of cannon fire, like flames that could be extinguished at any moment.

There was no time to lose. Fatty pulled the control stick, and [Logic] crouched low, stealthily moving from behind the hill towards the side of the Desic Empire mechas.

”Fatty, can’t we just not go? There are too many enemies...” This was Little Pi’s voice. This little brat was experiencing such a battle for the first time, trembling all over: ”Why not find a nice and peaceful place, where the man farms and the woman weaves?”

Fatty chuckled stupidly, shyly saying, ”Fuck you, if you want to live, shut up and do your job!”

Seeing Fatty behaving so indecently, Little Pi could only sigh dejectedly, focusing on assisting Fatty’s control, making Fatty’s commands more precisely distributed to [Logic]’s every joint through the mecha computer. With the two cunning scoundrels working together, [Logic] moved swiftly and silently like a ghost.

In fact, these ordinary Desic Empire standard mechas below the hill posed no significant threat to Fatty, who had undergone two months of secluded training. To him, those mechas below seemed clumsy and poorly controlled, almost like disabled people. Even if he couldn’t win, he was sure he could escape.

Although he couldn’t explain why he had such a feeling and confidence, Tian Xingjian vaguely felt it had a significant connection to the seventy-two ancient martial arts moves he had been practicing.

The fact was just that—his mastery of mecha martial arts had greatly enhanced his abilities. Especially in the continuity of mecha movements, the insights he gained during his escape had deepened further through his martial arts training.

With Fatty’s current skill level, looking at those ordinary mecha warriors’ controls was like someone used to piloting supersonic fighter jets watching propeller-driven antique planes—it naturally felt incredibly slow. However, due to his sneaky nature, this cunning fellow, even if piloting a supersonic jet against propeller planes, would still choose to achieve his goal through a surprise attack.
