Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 316: Volume 4 Chapter 62 Mars Erupts_3

People were all eager to know, who was it that, at the edge of the Wave-Soaring River, destroyed the enemy’s forward base command center, gaining a precious three days to prevent New Rome from falling.

Who was it that, from hundreds of miles behind enemy lines, rescued 270 Federation prisoners of war, saving the Federation heroes from being slaughtered.

Who was it that, deep behind enemy lines, at the most critical moment of the war, captured the Gazalin Emperor James, positioning the Federation at the commanding heights of the war’s outcome.

The deeds of this heroic special soldier platoon leader were not only well-known, people could recite them by heart. Even the battlefield recorder clips played in the show, they had recorded and repeatedly watched. In the Leray Federation, these real battlefield clips had triggered a frenzy. Everyone, upon hearing the panting, explosions, and calls in the clips, and seeing the real combat on screen, couldn’t help but feel their blood boil.

That day’s ”Hero” program reached its peak viewership, with nearly every Federation citizen watching.

At 12:05 PM, the program started on time. After the familiar opening scene, besides the host Helen, known as the Flower of the Federation, the guest was unexpectedly the Federation President Hamilton. As the scene switched, a new battlefield record suddenly appeared before everyone’s eyes.

The first thing to appear on the screen was a Desic [Warhammer] Mecha under attack in the midst of chaos. As this mecha exploded mid-air, with a barrage of frantic firepower, and a dense wave of mecha charging, a damaged [Magic Beast III] appeared prominently on a distant hillside on the other side.

When the Federation citizens saw from the enemy’s perspective this unique Leray Magic Beast Mecha leaning against a giant fir tree, firing six shots in succession, destroying two Ninth Generation [Warhammer] Mechas, everyone was shaking with excitement.

Before the mass onslaught of Desic Mechas, this [Magic Beast] showcased the might of the Leray Federation! Facing a thousand foes alone, what kind of fearlessness is that! As the battlefield record played on, every street and square fell into silence, with parading people standing quietly, not making a sound.

Fighting, entangling. A Leray Mecha, moving unhindered amidst heavy enemy forces, the real combat scenes left every viewer covering their mouths, afraid to accidentally shout out in tension. The screen was filled with the wild firing of energy cannons, shrubs being cut down piece by piece under the barrage, and the rising explosion flames making any war movie known for its scenes pale in comparison.

When seeing that damaged [Magic Beast], in a determined death-defying stance, charging through the smoky battlefield, leaping off a towering cliff, drawing a brilliant arc, and disappearing in a flash of explosion, everyone’s eyes blurred with tears, the entire Federation fell into silence.

At this moment, only Helen’s heavenly voice narrated: ”This is from the battlefield record of Aistrazzi, the commander of the Desic Empire’s Hunter Corps, obtained through special channels by our operatives in Desic. What we see is the last silhouette of Federation hero Tian Xingjian. To cover the main rear detachment, Federation hero Tian Xingjian resolutely held off the Desic Empire’s third-ranked Hunter Mecha Group alone for over four hours. Such composure and generosity in a hero, nothing surpasses this!”

People stared blankly at Tian Xingjian’s picture and biographical deeds on TV, listening to the Federation prisoners of war weeping as they recounted, many couldn’t help but burst into tears.

People finally saw the hero, but the hero could no longer hear their cheers.

The green hills wail, the rivers sigh. The Fatty, hiding underground and diligently practicing the Sunflower Manual, suddenly shivered. Damn it, the temperature dropped.

Then, the speech delivered by Federation President Hamilton shocked every Federation citizen with anger.

The course of history is always independent of human will, many major historical events are triggered by countless random occurrences. The first world war on Ancient Earth erupted because the Crown Prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Archduke Ferdinand, was assassinated in Sarajevo, igniting the powder keg between the Allies and the Central Powers.

This time, it was no different. A battleship carrying the Gazalin Emperor was pursued and intercepted by the Gazalin Fleet and the Desic Fleet. When this medium-sized battleship finally rendezvoused with the Federation Fleet, an unexpected war broke out.

”Sixteen hours ago, the Desic Empire Fleet brazenly launched an attack on our Federation Fleet in the Little Pyrenees Star System, damaging and sinking several battleships of our First Fleet. Subsequently, the Desic Empire attacked our fleet in the Public Star System, resulting in the deaths of thirty-one military observers stationed by Fei Alliance member countries.”

”Ten hours ago, the Binart Empire bypassed the Human Supreme Joint Council, issuing an ultimatum for us to ceasefire immediately and accept Western Alliance peacekeeping control. Five hours ago, thirteen Western Alliance member countries declared war on our Federation.”

Everyone was stunned by this news, only able to listen blankly as President Hamilton continued in a heavy yet determined voice: ”Three hours ago, the Feiyang Republic, the Ryan Republic, the Galron Republic, the Silliac Federation, the Chuckna Republic, the Puditok Federation, the Tatania Autonomous Alliance, and other Fei Alliance member countries have declared war on the Desic Empire.”

”Perhaps I am the first person in history to declare war in a program...” Hamilton paused slightly, then continued: ”On behalf of the Leray Federation President, I announce that from now on, we are in a state of war with the Desic Empire, in a state of war with the Naga Federation, in a state of war with the Binart Empire, in a state of war with the Suss Empire, in a state of war with the Jiepeng Empire...”

World war has broken out!
