Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 324: Volume 4, Chapter 65: Bizarre [Magic Beast]_3

The mech warriors of the Desic Empire had no idea that a sneaky Fatty, accompanied by an equally sneaky artificial intelligence, had already closed in on them. At this moment, in the eyes of these warriors, there was only the imminent victory. The Leray Federation Mecha Team in front of them was finally trapped, and once the mechas on both flanks closed in, it would instantly become a situation like catching a turtle in a jar.

”Accelerate on both flanks, we must encircle them before the front slope!” a Desic Major commanded. The flank mechas responded to the order by speeding up, as if receiving a fierce push.

”Boom! Boom!” Explosions repeatedly erupted beside the six fleeing Federation Mechas. Soil, mixed with turf and branches, was blown into the sky and then rained down in a chaotic shower.

Nia desperately maneuvered [Mimosa], running as fast as she could. This interview mecha, specially designed for battlefield records, was already severely damaged. The control panel within the cockpit flashed warning lights indicating imminent energy depletion and severe damage, emitting piercing alarms.

Sweat dripped from Nia’s hair down her cheeks. Her hands felt like they were being pricked by needles, the prolonged control of the mecha pushing her to the brink of collapse.

Biting her lip, Nia mechanically and numbly continued her maneuvers. She knew she had no choice but to keep running, not allowing herself to become a burden to the five Special Mecha Warriors. She couldn’t die before finding that Fatty, whose fate was unknown!

”Boom!” Contrary to Nia’s hopes, a shell exploded under her feet, violently tossing [Mimosa] away. The mecha issued sharp alarms while tumbling through the air. Exhausted, Nia completely lost control of the mecha, which crashed to the ground in a helpless mess.

”Get up quickly!”

Amid fierce gunfire, two [Warrior Leaders] rushed forward, trying to lift [Mimosa].

”Boom! Boom!” The experienced Desic pursuers seized the opportunity and closed in from both flanks. A dense barrage of energy cannon fire ruthlessly blanketed the area where the six Federation Mechas were located.

In the midst of smoke and flying debris, the three [Warrior Leaders] at the rear stopped. Almost simultaneously, they turned around, their mechanical energy cannons firing at an abnormal rate, the barrels glowing with a threatening red light.

These three [Warrior Leaders] were sacrificing themselves to buy time for their comrades! This was the tradition of the Leray Federation Army: no hesitation, no doubt, just turning around simply and decisively in the face of fierce gunfire, charging unwaveringly at the pursuers two hundred meters away.

”Don’t worry about me, you guys go!!” Nia’s anguished cry came through the regional communication channel.

The three [Warrior Leaders] ignored her plea.

Only three mechas launching a countercharge against a superior enemy, yet their momentum was like a tidal wave.

No one could describe such a moment, such heroes. They might never appear on a program like ”Hero,” but they were the true heroes. Without such heroes, war would only be bloody and cruel, lacking that faint touch of warmth and emotion.

Tears welled up in Nia’s eyes. [Mimosa]’s drive system was completely wrecked. All she could do now was adjust the ever-running recording lens to focus on the three Federation Warriors launching their countercharge against a superior enemy!

To capture those firm backs amidst the fiery smoke!

Nia wiped away her tears with the back of her hand, desperately trying to calm down, adjusting the camera’s focus and zoom. As a war reporter, this was her only way to fight at such a moment.

The Leray Federation will never be conquered!

”Come on, you sons of bitches!” Nia, abandoning all semblance of ladylike demeanor, cursed through gritted teeth.

Suddenly, a tremendous explosion echoed with a ”Boom!” In the camera, one [Black Armed] mecha abruptly exploded, the flames illuminating the entire jungle.

Nia’s hand trembled. Before she could react, two adjacent [Black Armed] mechas also exploded and disintegrated in the violent flames, scattering their mecha fragments spectacularly.

”Boom! Boom! Boom!”

Amidst everyone’s confusion, a battered [Magic Beast] mecha, like a grim reaper emerging from the depths of hell, darted forward with lightning speed, ruthlessly reaping lives. Six [Black Armed] mechas on the left flank, attempting to close in, exploded one after another as if sliced through by a sharp blade.

In just an instant, this terrifying [Magic Beast] mecha was already beside the [Royal Banner] medium-sized mecha. By the time everyone clearly saw the arm of the [Magic Beast] completely embedded in the [Royal Banner]’s body, nobody had been able to discern how this [Magic Beast] had moved so fast, with such terrifying speed.

”It’s him, it’s him, it’s him!” Nia was the first to recognize this [Magic Beast]. When she had first obtained the battlefield recording from Aistrazzi, she had watched it countless times, familiarizing herself with every piece of armor and detail on this [Magic Beast]. The figure that had haunted her for months suddenly appeared in front of her eyes—how could Nia not recognize it?
