Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The entire convoy advanced steadily in this chaotic yet orderly rhythm.

There was no intention of concealing their presence, as such a large convoy couldn’t possibly move silently like one or two individuals. Besides, vehicles can easily reach a speed of 120km/h with fuel, and only a few mutant beasts and zombies in the wilderness could match such bursts of speed. Moreover, since Mao Bear had cleared out a large number of threats earlier, Longyan wasn’t worried about attracting anything.

He sat nonchalantly in the luxurious seat of the tracked vehicle, letting three women busy themselves beneath him, sighing in satisfaction.

”Where are we now?”

”We just set out, Master Long, please rest a bit longer, we’ll arrive soon.”

”Play my ass, this damn car is too small, can’t even enjoy properly.”

Longyan pinched the soft flesh of a woman, smiling with viciousness emanating from his triangular eyes.

The trusted aide in front chuckled, ”This shitty car should’ve been replaced long ago. When the time comes, you’ll have a whole train to yourselves and a ten-meter-wide bed to enjoy!”

Longyan burst into laughter but quickly restrained himself, moving closer to the cockpit, his eyes sinister, ”You’re not lying to me, are you?”

The aide flinched but maintained a calm facade, saying, ”I saw the train with my own eyes, and they truly ran out of ammo. After that explosion, they resorted to melee combat, but...”

The man chuckled, ”I was a bit far, but you know how sharp my eyes are. I could see clearly from a dozen kilometers away.”

Longyan examined him for a moment, nodding, ”If I don’t see that train, I’ll gouge out those eyes of yours.”

The man’s smile turned slightly stiff, ”It’s guaranteed you’ll see it.”

As soon as he finished speaking, gunshots rang out from the front of the convoy, followed by intense conflict.

In the gloomy gaze of Longyan, two modified SUVs at the front of the convoy suddenly exploded, flipping high into the air.

”Enemy attack!”

The shrill cry was abruptly cut off.

Seeing Longyan’s grim, dripping gaze, the man shivered, quickly excusing, ”It must be that bastard on watch got drunk...”

Longyan ignored him, suddenly pushing open the sunroof above and looking outside.

The convoy consisted of seventeen vehicles, and on almost every vehicle’s roof stood a figure in a gray-green collarless coat. Half their face was covered with cyan-purple masks, revealing only pairs of cold eyes that emitted killing intent no less than his Tier One Evolver self.

A soldier softly said, ”Sister Cat, found him.”

Cold sweat slid down from his forehead, and beneath him, his confidence dissipated.

A chill spread directly from his spine to the scalp, Longyan frantically kicked the slippery woman below and crouched back inside the car, his voice turning sharp due to haste and fear, ”Drive!”

The two cronies in the cockpit also saw the scene outside under the light, causing their hair to stand on end.

The way these soldiers appeared was beyond their comprehension, more terrifying than encountering ghosts while walking at night!

The vehicle’s engine started, the driver slammed the pedal and turned the wheel, the car staggered and swerved in an attempt to get away from the convoy. Longyan kept a close eye on the scene outside the window and noticed that the soldiers were just gazing coldly, not intending to pursue, but there was still a nagging sense of unease in his heart.

Out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly glanced at the pitch-black wilderness.

Two points of wavering golden light appeared, and the next moment, a figure as agile as a lynx slammed into the side of the tracked vehicle, almost toppling the five-ton track vehicle!

In Longyan’s horrified gaze, a pair of platinum beast eyes stared at him through the glass.

Longyan felt as if he was seeing the most fearsome thing from deep within his memory, his whole body locking up, blood stagnating, even his heart paused for a moment.

At the moment he was captivated by the ”Deterrence” of the mongoose, a military dagger had already pierced into the bulletproof armor of the tracked vehicle, accompanied by the screeching burst of metal, the steel was torn open by this dagger!

The noise snapped Longyan back to reality. Seeing he was about to face a white-knuckle confrontation, the ruthlessness from a year of surviving the apocalypse brought him to his senses, grabbing the rifle from outside and firing at the mongoose outside the vehicle.

”Bang!”

The roar of the [Dragon Spine] heavy sniper rifle first pierced the night sky.

Burrowing into the soil-like metal, tearing through the cockpit and out from the eye socket of a terrified woman, taking Longyan’s hands with it.

The out-of-control tracked vehicle toppled awkwardly into a large pit by the roadside.

Soon, the mongoose, now stained with quite a bit of blood, dragged the handless Longyan out of the vehicle.

Other soldiers glanced and, seeing those sparkling eyes, immediately returned to their tasks, feeling at ease.

The entire fight lasted less than a minute, most of which was spent negotiating beforehand. If not for Longyan’s people reacting violently and firing immediately, the soldiers would have taken longer to determine if they were enemies.

The rest was simple, turning off the captured vehicles, and driving all survivors to an open space.

Faced with the Armed Corps whose average combat power was Tier One, the East City Association stood no chance, even a struggle wouldn’t lead to a devastating gun massacre, a soldier could kick down a group, intimidating over a hundred people with a loud yell.

Watching Qu Hang approach, carrying a sniper rifle, the mongoose threw Longyan to the ground, twin eyes shining brightly, ”A Tier One Evolver, should be worth a third-class merit, right?”

Qu Hang sighed, ”If I hadn’t fired, maybe you could’ve earned a personal third-class merit, but such a brief fight doesn’t qualify for collective merit.”

The mongoose pouted, grumbling, ”I could’ve taken him down without your shot.”

”The conductor doesn’t like wasting time.”

”Alright, here’s your dagger back.”

The mongoose reluctantly handed back the military dagger, couldn’t help but remark, ”The armed equipment is indeed much more useful than regular weapons...”

Qu Hang, amused by her greedy yet firm demeanor, tossed the military dagger back, ”You find it useful, then keep using it, I, a sniper, won’t need it.”

The mongoose perked up, nimbly catching the tossed military dagger, happily exclaiming, ”This, a gift from the Boss? Thanks!”

”Don’t dream, it’s docked two thousand points.”

”Still, that’s not bad.”

The quantity of armed equipment on the entire train is limited, there are only two items suitable for combat, one is Lin Jin’s rifle, and the other is this military dagger. Who knows where the conductor got it from.

Later, it was casually tossed to Qu Hang.

This thing at an auction in Zhijin could even be valued higher than a Tier Two Genetic Potion.

Two thousand points practically felt like a gift, considered Qu Hang’s way of taking care of his subordinates.

On the ground, Longyan twisted in pain, but with his hands and most of his elbows shredded by the [Dragon Spine] with one shot, rolling either direction caused searing pain.

More and more soldiers in coats appeared around, some in heavy Power Armor.

Amidst the oppressive and fierce aura, the members of the East City Association within the surrounding circle shivered like quails in a cold wind.

Suddenly, the crowd noticed that the soldiers’ expressions grew stern, their postures as straight as javelins.

The mongoose sent a ”Deterrence” to the wailing Longyan on the ground, causing him to abruptly fall silent, eyes following the soldiers’ gaze.

In the pitch-black night, a figure in a knit sweater emerged, with smooth skin and a handsome complexion. Clean long hair draped over his shoulders, swaying gently with each step, while humming a tuneless melody.

Neither his attire nor his demeanor seemed like someone struggling in the apocalypse, more like a young person dressed up for a date in the pre-apocalyptic world.

Yet it was this excessively young person, that made the surrounding soldiers, as fierce as ravenous wolves and tigers, silent like cicadas in winter.

Longyan’s triangular eyes held a complex confusion.

The battle ended too swiftly, leaving him uncertain of who the enemies were.

Were they really attacking that train?

”Conductor.”

The unremarkable voice echoed in Longyan’s mind, causing a momentary blank stare.

Conductor...?

Were they really going to attack that train?
