Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Sound is also a form of energy in essence, unless he truly advances to Tier Four, Su Huan may not be able to suppress him.

But at Tier Three, if Su Huan says it’s ineffective, then he couldn’t even make a sound!

What Ma Hongyu can rely on is only the physical strength brought by Tier Three evolution and some special skills.

However, facing Su Huan’s solid Tier Three physique, he could only take a beating. Just as he suspected, not being beaten to death was purely because Su Huan wanted to hit him a couple more times.

Liang Kuan and the others watched silently as Ma Hongyu, who looked like a dead dog, was held in Su Huan’s hand.

Of all people, you had to provoke him.

Su Huan lifted Ma Hongyu to his eye level and said with a faint smile, ”You owe me once for the cooperation issue, then I saved you from the fungus mat so you owe me a second time, and then helped you advance to Tier Three so you owe me a third time. Have you thought about how you want to repay that?”

Ma Hongyu raised his hand to indicate he wanted to speak.

Su Huan released his grip, and the latter fell to the ground, looking at the fungus mat curled in the corner, he finally understood his predicament.

With a bitter smile, he said, ”So just because I owe you, you let me advance to Tier Three?”

”Otherwise, if you’re dead, who am I supposed to look for? Alright, Q&A time is over, let’s hear about the secret you want to show me first.”

Ma Hongyu sat on the ground and let out a slow sigh, ”Follow me.”

He then walked towards the corner.

Lin Jin and the others looked puzzled. They had checked many times, but the entire fifteenth floor was just a neat rectangular box, without any planning or items.

But when Ma Hongyu stood in front of the wall, the seemingly indestructible wall silently disintegrated, revealing a huge hole that exposed the pitch-black secret passage behind it.

Su Huan squinted; the underground energy was mixed, and he couldn’t discern whether the position of energy had a physical entity.

”He used a special resonance frequency.”

Yu Yue’s gentle voice softly reached Su Huan’s ear.

Her advancement to Tier Two wasn’t as troublesome and ended a bit earlier than Ma Hongyu’s.

”Can you hear what’s at the end of the passage?”

Su Huan asked.

Yu Yue hesitated a bit, ”It seems like... a heartbeat.”

Su Huan smirked and followed Ma Hongyu into the passage without hesitation, the others followed closely, and the Fungus Carpet stretched itself into a long strip and wriggled into the passage.

The touch of the passage was solid ground, but it’s clear that the walls on both sides were similar to the Fungus Carpet. After walking for several minutes with no end in sight, the passage’s sides were no longer pitch black and faintly glowed red. Though weak, it was enough for the evolvers to see.

There was a type of moss growing on the ground, the same as what was on Ma Hongyu’s clothes, suggesting the moss maintained the existence of the passageway.

”We’re going upwards.”

Yu Yue reminded.

Su Huan hummed lightly in response. Although unsure of his location, he could feel the closeness to a restless energy source.

In front, Ma Hongyu’s footsteps suddenly halted, the dark red light spilling past him, illuminating the entire passage.

”We’re here.”

Though Ma Hongyu’s words were brief, his tone clearly carried a hint of excitement.

Su Huan moved forward to look. In front was a cavern-like hall, about a hundred square meters in space. Mycelium in the center entwined into a massive root-like heart, at the edge of the passage curled the core of the Fungus Carpet.

The dark red mycelium criss-crossed through the space, concentrating a large amount of energy gathered here, forming potholes of energy pools, each over three meters in diameter and with higher energy density than the Fungus Carpet’s nutrient solution, but even more chaotic and violent.

This energy can’t directly boost evolutionary progress, but it’s of immense research value for Director Xu.

The heart in the center swelled once every minute, causing everyone’s hearts to beat heavily, their blood boiling and energy rampaging.

Lin Jin, Xiaoba, and the others’ faces changed drastically, withdrawing a few steps to suppress the energy within them.

Director Xu showed little reaction, after all, there wasn’t much energy in his body at all.

Yu Yue instinctively cast a glance at Su Huan, remembering the energy runaway in his body during the battle of Zhijin, given his total energy amount, one couldn’t help but be concerned.

Before the Energy Rules were completed, Su Huan might have felt uncomfortable, but now without depending on the ”Lady of the House’s Gift”, he could easily suppress the energy within his body. The heart’s interference with him was negligible, the pulsating energy of the fleshy heart was quickly absorbed by his second core.

This process was completed within a single breath.

”Is this the secret you mentioned to me?”

Su Huan was somewhat disappointed. This ”heart”-like thing, although possessing substantial energy, was at best another nuclear reactor and hardly deserving of being called a secret. Moreover, the Big Fungus Carpet has no consciousness, it can’t tell him any secrets.

Prior to entering, he already had a basic understanding of the operations of the Spore Zone, and now he merely saw the process with his own eyes.

The Rule Stone enlightens the Fungus Carpet, the Fungus Carpet fights, expands the Spore Zone, then feeds back to the largest Fungus Carpet.

The energy here is invaluable to any force, a resource constantly generated, but to him, it’s not that important.

The train conductor lacks little in energy.

He hoped more that this was an abandoned military base, containing some information related to the apocalyptic change.

Yet Ma Hongyu turned around suddenly, earnestly saying, ”People can deceive, but the traces left cannot. This is the heart of the Big Fungus Carpet, and also the secret about the Spore Zone, even the origin of the world’s end you desire.”

”If you return my Genetic Potion, I can let you see its transformation.”

Ma Hongyu said again.

Su Huan looked at him with a half-smiling expression, ”Return it to you so you can comprehend the Rule, leap to Tier Four, and offset your debt to me?”

As soon as he spoke, the surroundings fell silent.

Ma Hongyu’s pupils instantly shrank to pinpricks.

His voice hoarse, he asked, ”How... do you know?”

How did he know?

Of course, it was Lin Xi who told him. It must be said, Ma Hongyu was very cautious, speaking only the truth, avoiding most discernment abilities, but he never expected a bug like Lin Xi on the train!

All superficial mental activities were almost exposed to Lin Xi’s mind.

That crafty girl Lin Xi didn’t even tell He Jie and the others, only telling the returning train conductor.

That’s why Su Huan would leave the train upon a word to come to the Tianze Base with him.

Because he needed to verify some things.

The Rule was one of them.

Without comment, Su Huan bypassed the mycelium, headed towards the Fungus Carpet heart, and said mildly, ”Your acting is too exaggerated, the Spore Zone is indeed daunting, but that’s for unfamiliar forces and ordinary people. But this level can’t possibly destroy a major power, leaving not a single survivor. And all those people, dying in such orderliness, don’t tell me mushrooms have a habit of organizing supplies.”

”Indeed during the Big Fungus Carpet’s digestive phase, mushrooms are devoured, but what it most wants to consume... should be you guys, right?”

Ma Hongyu collected his shocked expression, his bruised and swollen face returning to calmness, ”As expected of the train conductor, but there is one point I must correct, it wasn’t I who killed those hundred thousand people, but it’s true they died because of me.”

”At that time, my mentor and I discovered this core, then established the base here. Initially, we only wanted to use it as an energy source, but later we discovered a certain connection between the Fungus Carpets.”

”Back then, it was just the beginning of the apocalypse, many research theories weren’t perfected, especially concerning Tier Three Evolvers. So, my mentor proposed a crazy plan.”

”The Fungus Carpet covers an area over a million square kilometers. If one could master the Fungus Carpet, or rather replace the consciousness of the Fungus Carpet, then it would be a step straight to the ultimate evolution!”

”Surpassing the difficult advancement process, becoming the god of this world!”
