Armed Train in the Apocalypse

In the room, there were only two hospital beds, with a spacious, bright window in the middle. The Little Box, dressed in a water-blue long dress, sat by the window, peeling a pear with a small knife, and then putting the pear peels into a tiny flowerpot where a crimson little mushroom was growing.

On the hospital bed lay a fair-skinned girl, her silver long hair spread over the bedsheet, dazzling when the sunlight hit it.

Both of their gazes fell on Yu Jing at the same time. The Little Box seemed a bit puzzled, ”Lin Jin just went out.”

Yu Jing shook her head, staring straight into the light gray eyes of the girl on the bed, ”I’m not here to see him, could you give me a moment?”

The Little Box hesitated for a moment, seeing the magnetic pull between the two women’s eyes, she helplessly said, ”Alright, then I’ll go to the cafeteria to get food, want me to bring you some?”

Yu Jing replied blandly, ”A serving of three-mushroom fried rice, no spice.”

Lin Xi, ”Sour bamboo shoot beef fried rice, with spice, extra beef offal.”

The Little Box: ”...”

I thought you two were goddesses!

Seeing the two women clearly wanting to have a conversation without her, the Little Box left in a huff, but didn’t forget to send a message to Lin Jin via her personal terminal.

Although matters related to women should be resolved by women, anything concerning Lin Xi requires informing her own man.

Inside the room, Yu Jing, looking into the girl’s eyes that seemed to see through everything, was about to speak when she heard Lin Xi’s puzzled voice.

”Can you solve the issue of carrying capacity deficiency?”

”Oh, no.”

”Extending life by such means? Sounds feasible indeed.”

”But isn’t that explicitly forbidden by him?”

There was no response from Yu Jing, only Lin Xi’s self-talk filled the room.

The girl continued to throw out questions, not waiting for answers, moving on to the next one.

Yu Jing said coldly, ”He also forbade you from using abilities during this time.”

Lin Xi, lying on the bed, hooked a strand of silver hair with her pinky, squinting at the sunlight outside, lazily said, ”I just want to get answers quickly, but I’m more curious, aren’t you afraid of him getting angry?”

Yu Jing sat in the Little Box’s spot, picked up the half-peeled pear, and the room filled with the sound of the knife slicing through the fruit.

”He needs someone to do these things.”

She gave a non-answer answer.

”You seem to know a lot of things I don’t...”

Suspicion flashed in Lin Xi’s eyes, then she snorted coldly, ”Why hide it so much, let me take a look, I won’t tell anyone.”

Yu Jing cut off a piece of fruit, speared it with a knife, and handed it to Lin Xi’s side. The latter’s nimble little tongue flicked, eating the pear from the knife tip, cheeks puffed while chewing the juicy pear, speculating, ”It must be related to him. Why are you helping him like this? Could it be you two are siblings?”

Gossip flames suddenly appeared in Lin Xi’s eyes.

”No.”

”Then siblings from different parents?”

Yu Jing pondered, ”Is that how you and Lin Jin get along?”

Lin Xi’s small face stiffened for a moment, then returned to a calm demeanor, ”Is that thing outside also your handiwork?”

”Sort of, just verifying some theories.”

”I’ll agree to your condition, but when I can’t go on anymore.”

”No problem, even if I did it now, I wouldn’t be confident; two years of preparation is just right.”

Yu Jing put down the fruit knife, started munching on the pear in her hand.

Lin Xi: ”(╬Ò﹏Ó)”

When the Little Box returned with three servings of food, she saw Yu Jing sitting in a chair, her long legs crossed, eating fruit, while Lin Xi seemed like a fierce little beast, pointing at her, ranting.

”Sister-in-law, hurry and kick this bad woman out!”

...

The convoy of Deep Blue Data crossed openly over Donghuang Heavy Industry’s territory, heading northeast.

Haywood maneuvered the steering wheel to avoid a large depression, humming a tune while letting the breeze in.

Wei Mountain, in the passenger seat, gripped the handle, speechless, ”Why provoke that woman for no reason, if it weren’t for her being busy with those two recently emerged lords, we wouldn’t be able to leave. Don’t tell me it’s to confirm her stance, even if we don’t go, she won’t interfere with our and the train’s affairs.”

Haywood smiled, ”She won’t interfere, but that doesn’t mean Lian Jin won’t.”

Wei Mountain’s eyes shifted, understanding Haywood’s intention.

Among top powers, there is a balance. If Haywood doesn’t show up, Donghuang Heavy Industry can play dumb and sell the train a favor, but after Lord Lian clearly stated he wouldn’t help Deep Blue Data, they can only maintain a neutral position.

”But even so, assuming you left some backdoor, we still can’t beat the train. The gap between Tier Two and Tier Three is absolute.”

Wei Mountain shook his head.

Haywood laughed, ”Of course I know, but Su Huan is an emotional person. Those methods will provoke this train master.”

”Emotional?” Wei Mountain frowned, ”Where did you get that conclusion?”

Haywood said deeply, ”You haven’t delved into him, so you don’t know. The train master has someone named He Jie under him, who controls all the armed forces of the train.”

”Tell me something I don’t know, there’s no need for riddles between us now.”

”He’s a furious, irritable, and cruel person. Based on the last operation, Tong Zizhan should have defected too, perhaps holding a very important position. Tong Zizhan is our breakthrough point; we just need to use him to leverage He Jie...”

”But things don’t always go as you think they will.”

Haywood said nonchalantly, ”If trust is a steel wire, what we need to do is repeatedly press and fold it. But as you said, these are minor tactics and can’t change the absolute power gap between us and the train. The company won’t send more personnel for an operation doomed to be unprofitable, so we...”

Wei Mountain’s brow furrowed into a Sichuan character, the various information in his mind remained scattered, even though he followed Haywood around constantly, he still didn’t know what this foreigner was really thinking.

Until he heard this, a thunderbolt suddenly struck through his mind!

”You want to seek the Pan-Asian Alliance?!”

Wei Mountain exclaimed in shock.

The fundamental purpose of Haywood irritating Lord Lian was this, not to maintain any so-called neutrality, but to buy time, giving him the chance to guide people from the Pan-Asian Four Nations Alliance onto the battlefield!

”Old leader, you should have thought of this long ago.”

Haywood said calmly.

Wei Mountain’s expression turned dark and uncertain; indeed, he should have thought of it earlier.

Because of some historical reasons, Donghuang People are very averse to seeking external aid, but he forgot that Haywood is not Donghuang People, so naturally, he doesn’t have this taboo.

As Haywood drove, he spoke in fluent Donghuang language, ”You Donghuang people are arrogant, fond of civil wars, but even if you beat each other’s brains out, you wouldn’t seek aid from outside nations. You never speak of racial discrimination, because you equally discriminate against everyone, this is a form of arrogance, an arrogance of an advanced civilization toward a lower-level civilization.”

”To this end, you even invented a term called ’Donghuang Traitor,’ viewing the act of introducing outsiders as a shame.”

”However, Donghuang, having shed religious and bloodline dependencies, is indeed more advanced than other civilizations. If in the future, Donghuang sheds class dependencies, it might really become the first advanced civilization on Blue Star.”

Wei Mountain’s face darkened completely, ”So you intend to bring the Pan-Asian Alliance into Donghuang to deal with the armed train?”

”Of course, this is for the company.”

”I refuse!”

The speeding off-road vehicle suddenly braked, pulling a huge pause symbol in the wilderness.

Haywood turned his head, frowning, ”I think I’ve made it very clear, you’re Donghuang military, I’m also Donghuang military, we’re on the same front.”

Wei Mountain said coldly, ”Don’t think you can fool me with some philosophical nonsense, report everything to the company and let the company decide!”

”Now, go back!”
