Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Ma Hongyu slammed his face into the fungus carpet with a thud, saying nothing.

Su Huan lifted his head and said seriously, ”Counting the previous three times, plus just now, you owe me four times now.”

Ma Hongyu replied weakly, ”At the very least, I’m a Tier Three. Without you, the fungus carpet wouldn’t digest me, just make me a bit miserable.”

”I can help chop it down to a digestible size.”

”Thank you very much...”

Su Huan said with a smile, ”It’s no problem, I’m always happy to help.”

Ma Hongyu raised his head and murmured, ”I can’t repay you. The only thing I have to offer is this Tier Three body. I assume you wouldn’t be interested in that.”

”Director Xu, are those Chongying guys on the train still alive?”

Su Huan suddenly turned his head and asked.

Director Xu, studying Lin Jin, shook his head decisively, ”No, haven’t done any human experiments recently.”

Ma Hongyu solemnly said, ”I believe that only under the guidance of the train conductor can humanity repeat its glory, return to its pre-apocalyptic peak. It is an honor to follow the conductor and revive human civilization. I, Ma Hongyu, swear to heaven, as long as the conductor...”

”Bang!”

Su Huan pressed his head back into the fungus carpet.

After a brief pause, he pulled him out again, this time without humor, calmly saying, ”I have no intention of rebuilding civilization, and I don’t care if humanity has one more or one less Tier Three. Even though I’ve invested a set of Tier Three Potion and quite a bit of energy liquid in you, doing things at a loss is nothing new for me. I suggest you choose carefully.”

Ma Hongyu opened his mouth but swallowed his words, ”The Tier Three Potion and energy liquid were mine to begin with.”

Looking at the distant base ruins, a touch of nostalgia appeared in his eyes, and he said quietly, ”I want to stay here.”

Su Huan looked at the slowly moving big fungus carpet, deep in thought, ”Waiting for the next digestion period?”

Though he crushed the core of the big fungus carpet, that doesn’t mean the Spore Zone will die. Just like his second core for storing energy, breaking it affects his combat power but doesn’t kill him.

The big fungus carpet will gradually birth a new energy core, though he doesn’t know how long it will take.

Ma Hongyu nodded heavily.

”A foolish choice.” Su Huan said in an indifferent tone.

Liang Kuan, who was suppressing him, stood up, and just as Ma Hongyu closed his eyes, awaiting death, he suddenly heard Su Huan’s footsteps start to move away from him.

”Then so be it, but I’ll be taking the corpse mushroom fungus carpet with me.”

Ma Hongyu lay dazed on the ground, watching Su Huan and his men begin to excavate people from the base.

From start to finish, Su Huan never asked him why he wanted to deceive the train’s passengers into the base.

Next, Su Huan turned into a relentless excavation machine, quickly uncovering the obscured base entrance. Though the soldiers left looked a bit ragged, there were no combat casualties, although three guys had their power armor’s energy depleted and were wrapped up by the fungus carpet, with the outer armor already corroded.

Among them was a bomb; if it weren’t for Su Huan capturing Ma Hongyu alive down there, these three unlucky guys would be done for.

The old veterans of the regiment knew the conductor well, not leaving a single piece of loot behind, which pleased the conductor greatly.

The biggest gain from this trip was all the research data of the Tianze Alumni Association. Although stagnant for over half a year, the train’s evolution research was now on par with any top-tier power.

Secondly, there were various non-reproducible equipment.

The most tangible spoils were the genetic potion, over a thousand basic attribute potions, over a thousand skill potions, three complete sets of Tier Two equipment, two sets of audio-type Tier Three, one Tier Four set, and plus that pool of nutrient liquid, the train could begin developing new Tier Four Evolvers once it returned.

Of course, whether it succeeds depends on individual insight, but Su Huan has cleared most of the obstacles.

The heart of the fungus carpet that broke has been collected by Director Xu, and though it lacks a tier, its value is undoubtedly above the corpse of a Tier Three Evolution Beast.

Every Tier Three Mutant Beast’s body is a priceless treasure, capable of extracting high-tier materials, armament, Pan-energy Crystals, and other critical items.

Once the base was excavated, he now had to tackle the train because the fungus carpet’s shifting drastically altered the terrain. Fortunately, Su Huan could lock onto the specific location.

However, excavating the train was no easy task; he’d have to dig out over a kilometer of train body entirely, otherwise, it wouldn’t go anywhere, and with limited power armor, it’s unclear how long this job might take.

Halfway through the digging, Ma Hongyu came over to help, huffing and puffing.

Then he sneakily sidled up to the conductor, whispered, ”I’ll repay those four times, but you cleaned out the base, leave me some food, won’t you...”

The conductor glanced at him, grabbed him, and delivered a few punches.

Before long, Ma Hongyu, stripped down to just his shorts, with a beard full of tears, carried a hoe and sourly dug into the fungus carpet.

Next to him were the corpse mushroom and dozens of cautious puppets.

Actually, it could produce some mushrooms, but mushrooms don’t have hands, aren’t good at digging, and humanoid puppets are far more useful, so naturally, Su Huan wouldn’t let it waste precious nutrient liquid.

Lin Jin, perched on the roof, watched the scene unfold, muttering, ”The conductor seems a bit off.”

Liang Kuan threw aside a large torn chunk of fungus carpet, said softly, ”Mellowed out a lot, if it were before, this guy would have used up his lifetime’s words while on the train.”

Nearby, Yu Yue, in a daze and slacking off, with apricot eyes full of reflection, her mind had only two words left, ’mellowed out...’

At five in the morning, Su Huan finally dug out most of the front car, suddenly hearing bright yet silly music coming from the carriage.
