Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”Carrying capacity,” ”skills limit,” and other precious information deeply hidden in the laboratory of the train were revealed, igniting everyone’s excitement.

This is a major issue concerning personal evolution.

What is evolution?

It is power, it is status, it is the only yardstick for measuring life after the apocalypse!

But for the higher-ups, only this new concept of carrying capacity was worth listening to; everything else was no longer a secret.

Only Vice President Deng had his brow furrowed, pondering deeply, and didn’t speak until Director Xu’s explanation concluded, ”Can a significant replenishing of life force increase lifespan?”

Director Xu paused; he understood why Vice President Deng was asking this and simply replied, ”Life force is not equivalent to lifespan. My method of measuring life force also references the vigor of life, which is a fluctuating value that increases significantly with advancement in tiers, but decreases with injury and aging. Overall, there is a fluctuation range; the maximum is the current tier.”

”Lifespan and carrying capacity are also derivatives of life force. According to the standards I set, a lifespan with 1000 life force points is certainly longer than one with 10 points, but I have currently not found an accurate measurement method, so I cannot determine the lifespan limit of an evolver.”

In other words, life force determines lifespan and carrying capacity, but conversely, the latter two also limit life force.

Vice President Deng sighed inwardly; the old factory director’s life ended, even replenishing life force couldn’t break through Tier Two.

Elsewhere.

Lin Jin, who rushed over, felt deeply saddened looking at his sister lying on the bed. He has been striving to enhance his strength, so as not to repeat past mistakes, hoping that when his sister needs him, he can step up like a real brother.

Seeing the conductor sitting beside Lin Xi with rule patterns appearing, Lin Jin shut his mouth afraid of disturbing him.

Nowadays, he’s mastered some of the rules and increasingly feels the gap between himself and the conductor. Even Su Huan is so cautious in manipulating energy; clearly, Lin Xi’s issue is quite troublesome.

It was only until Su Huan got up that Lin Jin asked, ”Xiaoxi...”

Su Huan patted his shoulder, and the two walked to the hallway with mutual understanding.

Watching the scenery flow outside the window, Su Huan calmly said, ”Two years, I can only delay her by two years, and this counts her evolving to Tier Two, increasing carrying capacity; but at this pace of evolution, she can’t reach Tier Three, she’ll be drained of carrying capacity by all kinds of abilities.”

Lin Jin was stunned for a moment, then shuddered!

He stepped forward hurriedly, ”Isn’t there another way?”

”Advancing in tiers, eliminating skills, these two methods I can’t do...” Su Huan’s gaze shifted to Lin Jin’s face as he suddenly uttered a light ’huh’.

”But your Destruction Rule can achieve the latter, right?”

Lin Jin calmed down, thought deeply, and shook his head with a struggle on his face, ”Perhaps in the future, but at least now I can’t do it. I can’t even ’touch’ her skills, it would harm her.”

Su Huan fell silent, ”Skills” aren’t purely, observably genetic; their constitutions are complex and likely exist attached to a rule.

Yu Jing, who accompanied them, silently listened for a while before returning.

Su Huan didn’t stand silly with Lin Jin anymore and walked towards the front of the train; today, the train would leave the Spore Zone, and there’s a possibility of facing unknown enemies.

...

Edge of the Spore Zone.

Due to the digestion period, the Fungus Carpet spread outward, and floating lands close to the Spore Zone fell one by one, getting devoured by the Fungus Carpet.

Those further away floated in the sky but were noticeably lower than at the beginning.

On the largest floating land block only two meters off the ground, Tong Zizhan and Gao Yuan were squatting in the center of a black mark.

Gao Yuan looked puzzled, ”Based on the size, shape, and extent, it’s basically confirmed to be traces left by the company’s field stove, but in principle, it shouldn’t leave such marks. A year of time is enough for equipment iterations countless times, and the product design department wouldn’t neglect such an obvious flaw.”

Tong Zizhan sneered twice, ”It’s for us to see.”

After saying this, he dug towards the burned black mark with his hands. Gao Yuan quickly realized and helped dig the soil; the hands of two Tier One Evolvers were more useful than shovels, and with a few strokes, they cleared the surface soil.

A safe box without any marks was placed in the center. The corners were new, almost without a stain of soil; it was evidently placed recently.

The two exchanged a glance, Tong Zizhan input a password and opened the box.

Inside were two rows of Genetic Potions placed neatly, below them were a hundred Tier Two Pan-energy Crystals, and there was nothing else.

No need to confirm further; Tong Zizhan was certain this was the Genetic Potion for the two of them to advance to Tier Two.

’The company’s supplies have arrived.’

”After so long, the salary has finally been paid.”

Gao Yuan said angrily, looking up at Tong Zizhan, but was startled by his cold expression.

Tong Zizhan looked grimly at the box of beautiful Genetic Potions and sneered, ”Supplies? It’s asking for our lives!”

Gao Yuan’s expression changed drastically; after thinking for a moment, he also realized something was wrong.

The company has been keeping them out there for so long, it doesn’t matter at this moment, so why suddenly generously send them supplies?

Never mind that Tier Two Genetic Potions have become mass-produced and are no longer valuable;

This stuff is always scarce.

And they have been out for many years, even if they maintain contact, they would be categorized as ”outermost” members, so how could headquarters possibly allocate resources to these two undercover agents amidst so many people and talents eagerly waiting?
