Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Yu Yue’s fingers brushed past the exotic long eyebrow tail of Su Huan, and subconsciously, the swamp like a sea of flowers flashed in her mind.

The voice fell low, ”Be careful.”

”I will.”

The time spent in tenderness is always brief, and by the time Su Huan stood on the car roof in a black and brown knit sweater, the Armed Corps was already prepared to depart.

The soldiers, each with a fierce demeanor, lined up neatly under the train head. Those above the rank of sergeant were all uniformly dressed in [Tier Three Guardian] Power Armor, helmets open, holding Pan Energy Gravity Axes or other heavy weapons.

All other soldiers wore combat suits underneath, with grey-green trench coats on the outside. The coat bore only a train head emblem symbolizing rank, reinforcing the cold, murderous style to the utmost.

People’s gazes were fixed on the train conductor on the roof: some with reverence, others with fervor.

The train would stay here overnight to process materials, but the conductor would personally lead a team to execute a chase mission.

This was no longer the kind of exploration mission leaving the team for a few kilometers, but a genuine combat mission.

This was one of the few opportunities to perform in front of the train conductor.

Ever since the train system had become more refined, almost all chances of soaring to the sky had been locked up, the only clear one was to perform excellently in front of the conductor.

Just like the chief conductor Hu Shuo, cultivation pod director Li Han, research team conductors Zhou Qing and Xiaozhao, they were all promoted with a word from the conductor.

Su Huan’s gaze swept across, the soldiers’ eyes mostly held admiration and longing, officers were mostly awed, and the more complex emotions came from people like Zhong You and Lin Jin.

But there was also someone like He Jie, who spat behind disdainfully.

Once this matter is settled, find some free time, find an excuse, and beat him up.

Thinking of this, a trace of anticipation surged in Su Huan’s heart, the corners of the mouth slightly lifted, soldiers didn’t notice this subtle change, but a group of officers felt a chill in their hearts.

”Just some minor work, don’t need so many people, five hundred will be enough, the rest stay to guard the train.”

”He Jie will arrange the personnel, the remainder will depart with me in three minutes, no need to carry heavy weapons, ensure mobility.”

Su Huan’s speech remained consistently concise, but the soldiers instantly became tense.

In He Jie’s loud calls, three hundred people sighed and stayed behind, including Wen Biao and others who had been requesting battle nearby.

The battle aimed for a swift victory, naturally wouldn’t bring along Wen Biao’s few hundreds of scattered soldiers, if there was ambush, they wouldn’t even know how they died.

Jiao Ting from Iron Wolf Corps led the way, and five hundred elite soldiers silently disappeared into the night.

The target headed straight for the East City Association, ten kilometers away.

...

The floating island of the East City Association was far from Guiyan City, located in the suburbs, naturally without any native buildings.

There were only tin houses resembling construction sites, without the dense punk vibe of Scrap Iron City in the Acid Rain Zone, nor the man-made planning sense of Iron Mountain Shelter, straightforwardly like a refugee camp.

Life’s garbage piled carelessly at the edge of the floating land, as the island slightly rose and fell, it clattered down below.

A few figures were startled by the sound, rose from the trash, looked around briefly, then buried their heads back in the trash searching for something to eat. Although the garbage here was repeatedly sifted by others, as long as they searched carefully, they could always find some food residue not fully consumed.

A scavenger cautiously looked up, then discreetly picked up a pack of spicy strip wrappers.

There was only a bit of red oil in the plastic wrapper.

The scavenger used his dirty fingers to wipe some red oil, then put it into his mouth, and joyfully licked it, his eyes lit up instantly, there was greasiness, there was sweetness, there was also saltiness!

Licking the wrapper, the scavenger looked towards the dark ground beneath the floating land, like he was stung by something, quickly retracting his gaze.

He would rather starve on the floating island than face those monsters below.

As for those days when he had enough to eat and wore warm clothes in the past, he treated them as dreams.

The scavenger simply lay down, twisted his body, and dug out a comfortable pit in the trash heap, lying sideways, looking towards the light in the center of the floating land, the only light source for ten kilometers, listening to the bursts of cries and laughter inside, he could dream of those seemingly past life days of comfort.

The center of the floating island naturally belonged to the core members of the East City Association, they held supreme authority over the entire floating land.

Abundant supplies, beautiful women, various evolutionary resources.

The apocalypse had eliminated the internet, and along with it, any legal constraints, leaving vacuous people employing every imaginable means for recreation.

The flame of the bonfire reflected the women’s skin into a honey color, swaying in waves along with the music’s rhythm. The scant clothing jumped, jumped, and soon vanished. Cages hung from above, containing haggard people, their dazed eyes watching the beast-like revelry below.

Inside the largest tent before the bonfire, Wei Dong sat in the center, his face etched with sinister malice, flanked by two major heads of the East City Association, Longyan and Dragon Head.

The former had triangular eyes, people felt sick when being looked at, claiming it as Longyan and after gaining power post-apocalypse, no one opposed him.

As for Dragon Head, originally called Horse Face, after hearing Longyan’s mighty nickname, he also changed his own.

Both were sinister and ferocious, regarded by Wei Dong as his left and right arms, thriving by ruthlessness and lack of humanity near Guiyan’s edge, though weaker than small forces like Iron Wolf Corps, no one wanted to provoke such a pack of wolves.

”Those people ran to the red brick factory?”

Wei Dong asked.

From the right, Longyan holding a woman, deliberately pressed his sharp voice slightly hoarse, ”Yes, if it wasn’t for Lao San alarming them, they wouldn’t have been vigilant, ran into the red brick factory just in time to avoid a wave of zombie tide, otherwise with that wave we could have sat back as a fisherman.”

Mentioning this, Dragon Head angrily yelled, ”Stop damn spouting nonsense, if it wasn’t for that zombie tide, with those few people, I would have captured them with a charge!”

Longyan sneered, ”Those? They have heavy firepower, with those broken guns of yours you dare boast! If it wasn’t for your quick escape, you’d be another in the southbound zombie tide now!”

”Bang!”

Dragon Head slammed the table and stood up.

Before he could speak, Wei Dong shouted angrily, ”Enough! The dead are dead, what’s the point of talking now? Among us three, causing such havoc, how to expand the East City Association in the future?”

Upon hearing this, Longyan didn’t provoke further, Dragon Head also sat back down.

To make these two ferocious men honestly listen, Wei Dong naturally relied on his superior strength over them.

Without letting the two speak, he directly asked Longyan, ”Have you figured out why the zombie tide shifted south and what the explosion situation was?”

Longyan solemnly stated, ”Brothers under me reported that the zombie tide had clashed with another group, fought fiercely, with severe casualties.”

Wei Dong frowned, ”Severe casualties? That was a tide of tens of thousands of zombies!”

He didn’t know the strength of the armed train, but was aware of his own subordinate thugs, heroically grabbing benefits and playing with women, but slacking immensely in reconnaissance, however since he had brutally killed two last time, no one dared lie to him now.

Longyan confidently stated, ”This news is absolutely reliable, not only did they clash, but zombies were outmatched. That explosion was caused by that group, they might even have a nuclear bomb!”

”Nuclear bomb?”

Wei Dong’s eyes flickered.

[I really want to write a Chinese version of Mad Max, but need restraint, an apocalypse without sex is just violence, sigh!!]
