Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Several purple leopards, each over three meters long, roamed through the mushrooms with mycelium wrapped around their bodies, their eyes glistening with a serene light. They lay low on massive red mushrooms, staring at the team walking across the Fungus Carpet.

Three mushroom clans, tens of thousands of battle fungi, swarmed to intercept the Power Armor squad.

Yet the team displayed astonishing resilience, moving steadily forward through the ocean of mushrooms without losing any members despite the battle’s intensity.

Every Power Armor suit was stained with mushroom juice. Initially, the warriors struggled against the fungi, but their attacks became increasingly decisive and fierce. They barely used any ammunition, and swinging long-handled axes in arcs, they sent mushrooms flying.

Led by a man in black with narrow eyes, they swiftly ascended the Fungus Carpet along the crevice paths.

It was this man who brought immense losses to its clan.

No matter how many powerful puppets and battle fungi were deployed, they turned into silent piles of charcoal before him. Even the Fungus Carpet and Mushroom King, indifferent to losses, began pondering the cost-effectiveness of attacking him.

Hesitating momentarily, the puppet leopard shifted its target, aiming at the person furthest from the squad.

Though each Power Armor wielded a long-handled axe, others employed some form of ranged attack. But this person only used an axe, endlessly repeating a single chopping move against puppets and other mushrooms.

The leopard lowered its body further, tail drooping.

Just as a pink carnivorous mushroom opened its mouth to bite the opponent, the leopard let out a roar, pounced forward with its paws, and its tail, whipping up high like a steel whip due to the sudden acceleration.

Inside the Power Armor, the Mirror looked up, her red lips parting to release a light ”Huh.”

To her right, a two-meter-tall pink carnivorous mushroom opened its mouth, layers of fangs extending forward, biting her upper body.

The fangs grated against the Power Armor, emitting a piercing ”clang.”

The surrounding soldiers glanced over, identified her, and paid her no further attention.

In the next moment, a two-hundred-pound axe ripped upward, splitting the entire mushroom in half, pouring a rush of acid onto the Fungus Carpet, raising a pool of white mist, filtered entirely by the Power Armor.

A ferocious dark shadow descended directly into the white mist, soon followed by a woman’s excited laughter and a struggling roar.

Nearby soldiers shivered, edging slightly away.

The smoke cleared, and a bloodstained Power Armor stood there, a three-meter-long dark leopard reduced to a heap of minced meat.

The laughter grew increasingly manic as the woman charged into the mushroom groups on both sides, actively seeking puppets to slaughter.

”Tong Zizhan, you and... Qu Hang take turns leading the rear guard, everyone else follow!”

Yu Yue’s voice paused ever so slightly.

With He Jie absent, as the officer with the highest rank besides the train leader, everyone had to follow her command.

Skillfully avoiding an acid mushroom, Yu Yue constantly observed everyone’s position, directing outer squads’ rotation to prevent any squad from exhausting their ammo or stamina, potentially breaching defenses against the mushroom barrage.

”Yes!”

In the internal comms, Tong Zizhan responded, leading his squad with deliberate steps, then turning to face the advancing mushroom horde behind.

He raised his hand and a bloodhound emerged from the mist, charging forward but getting seized by the throat, slammed fiercely onto the Fungus Carpet. Despite fractured bones, the bloodhound showed no hesitation from pain, struggling to leave teeth marks on the Power Armor’s hand.

”Bang, bang...”

The trigger pulled, a small-caliber rifle bullet turned the bloodhound’s head into a bloody pulp, yet still writhing under mycelium control, trying to rise.

Tong Zizhan furrowed his brow, ”Hey Jin, lend me some fire!”

From the distant ashes, a spark shot out, wobbling over like it was lost, landing on the bloodhound. Instantly, a torch flared up into the sky.

Tong Zizhan stepped back two paces, planting the long-handled axe upright in front. A snake charging through the flames was split in half. Adjusting the axe, severing the writhing snake further, kicking two mushrooms in the gaps, and dodging a giant warrior mushroom falling from above, the rear already burned into a sea of fire.

Then, he led his squad forward to follow up.

Fighting on the flanks, Lin Jin and Liang Kuan faced no less combat than those at the rear, perhaps even more intense.

Especially Liang Kuan, with custom Power Armor towering a full head above others, even wider, despite being the same model. His armor was another cent thicker than the others, standing like a wall.

One hand held a shield, the other a long-handled axe, resembling a violent killing machine. A ten-meter-tall warrior mushroom leaped to crush him, only to be cleaved mid-air in two by his shield. Three-meter-tall battle fungi were swatted away by his shield like bowling pins, smashing through giant parasol mushrooms, causing tremors in the mushroom forest.

The massive tower shield in his grasp seemed like a small hand axe; a casual swing erupted like thunder.

Within moments, he had slain over a hundred puppets and mushrooms, dripping with juice, joyously soaked. Soldiers assisting him could barely touch a mushroom, unable to charge out like the Mirror for mass slaughter, forced to stand behind Liang Kuan drenched in mushroom juice.

In contrast, Su Huan at the forefront seemed leisurely strolling, lacking exaggerated lightning effects or thousand-meter Thunder Pools.

No matter the size of the mushrooms, before him, they simply turned to silent charcoal in a flash of light, not even impacting the Fungus Carpet underfoot, all energy compressed within the target’s body.
