Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The accompanying vehicles stopped when they saw the situation, but seeing the two in a standoff inside the car, they silently returned to their seats.

The atmosphere inside the SUV was suffocatingly silent.

Haywood said in a deep voice, ”Do I need to remind you how it’ll end if you go back? Give up your damned stubbornness, you’re nothing now, those people would rather see you slink back!”

Wei Mountain sat upright in his chair, looking at him coldly, ”Of course I know! But I’d rather go back and be assigned to guard the gate by the board than go with you!”

Haywood sneered, pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Wei Mountain’s head, ”What about now?”

Wei Mountain lowered his eyes silently, not answering.

”Are you serious?”

This time, Haywood was truly dumbfounded.

Weren’t we supposed to be in this together?

You screwed me once, I screwed you once, wouldn’t that settle it? When you messed with me, I didn’t utter a word, I even abandoned a thriving Acid Rain Zone base to come here, and now you’re dropping everything because of a disagreement that’s hardly a disagreement?

”Why?”

Haywood asked, puzzled. It’s already the end times, only individuals remain, not nations. He didn’t believe those absurd reasons; there must be something he didn’t yet know.

”No reason why. Attacking the armed train is no problem, dealing with gunfire is no problem, but the Pan-Asian Alliance cannot set foot on Donghuang’s land, and certainly not at my invitation.”

”Just that simple?”

”Yes!”

”Even if it means dying, you won’t change your mind?”

”Yes!”

”Bang!”

Haywood suddenly banged the steering wheel, the horn emitting a piercing sound.

His handsome and sculpted face turned distorted. He had worked for Deep Blue Data for ten years, but each time he was about to take a step further, similar inexplicable reasons would arise, followed by requests to understand things he couldn’t grasp.

What the hell are these Donghuang People insisting on?

With things in such chaos already, struggling to survive, why still cling to these damned things?

Even after changing nationality for over fifteen years, he still doesn’t understand.

All he can feel is that arrogance, that deep-rooted arrogance!

But soon, Haywood collected his enraged emotions, just like he had said before, this was his only chance.

Haywood lit a cigarette for himself, ignited the engine, and as the roar of the engine echoed, the fine trembling caused by anger and tension slowly subsided, his voice calm, ”You’re the one who pushed me to this position. Now you say not to pursue it, but I can only walk this path until the end.”

”We can use any means to interfere with the train; all that’s needed is to show a tough stance, but we just can’t involve the Pan-Asian.”

”But that’s the only way to significantly damage the train.”

”Maybe...”

”Bang!”

The convoy departed, leaving a middle-aged man’s corpse on the ground.

...

Due to the zombie horde’s delay, the train hadn’t moved out by sunset, spending most of the time collecting zombie materials.

Deep Blue Data and gunfire couldn’t escape the Gravity Zone in a day, but ignoring loot collection after battling zombies would be like discarding the spoils of war; the train’s food, clothing and shelter all needed these materials for supply, and the conductor can’t be so wasteful.

More importantly, the conductor needed time to tame the wild horse of [Thunder].

Even though the basic protection of this power armor was incomplete, lacking Pan Energy shields, electromagnetic shields, biochemical protection, complete sealing, weapon systems, power systems, information and intelligence systems, and couldn’t even guarantee basic communication and sustenance.

But this was still a product that surprised Su Huan.

He’d rather wear this stumbling power armor into battle than carry the bulky Guardian.

Because the strengths of the former are long enough, while the latter have little significance to him.

In most situations, environments unsuitable for Tier Three Evolvers can’t be withstanded by ordinary power armor for long, unless specially customized; otherwise, the adaptability range of an Evolver is much broader than that of power armor.

And [Thunder] can enhance his Basic Attributes, crucially when he becomes accustomed to the operation of it, the power armor becomes like a second skin to him, with no delay or sluggishness, which is vital in combat.

The only regret is the amplification is fixed, and when his ”Fighting Expert” transitions to ”Fighting Master”, the support it can offer diminishes.

But currently, it’s only at 40% capacity of [Thunder], the complete version’s abilities will naturally improve further.

Perhaps in the future, it might iterate into power armor for use by Evolvers above Tier Three.

That’s what he truly anticipates.

Just back in the car shaking off a headful of dirt clods, Tong Zizhan approached with a serious expression, handing him a piece of information.

[Gunfire is located in ruins twenty kilometers ahead.]

”Tsk, your opportunity is here again?”

Su Huan lifted his head from the basin, Yu Yue held a thick towel to help him wipe his dripping long hair.

Tong Zizhan was momentarily stunned, then nodded, ”Just confirmed, the source is reliable, but it’s impossible to verify its accuracy.”

The two tacitly chose not to pierce the veil.

Su Huan chuckled softly, droplets streaming from the dense strands, tracing past his half-closed eyes.

”Always playing those true or false tricks, disregard them, just stick to the plan.”

After Tong Zizhan left, Yu Yue softly asked, ”Going out again tonight?”

Su Huan leaned his head back, inhaling the familiar scent lightly ”Mm.” and perhaps sensing his reply was too indifferent, after a while added, ”Regardless if it’s Deep Blue Data or gunfire, currently there are no ways to restrain Tier Three Evolvers, even if they planted a nuke ahead, I could still return alive.”
