Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Only then did he look up to see a cold and beautiful woman sitting behind an old-fashioned redwood desk. Her forehead was full, her nose high and straight, her eyes large and bright, even with anger, they carried an enchanting beauty. Sitting cross-legged on the chair, her full and voluptuous figure was apparent.

It was none other than his biological sister, Lord Lian.

Originally, when grandpa was naming them, the sister was called Lian Junhou and he was called Lian Jinchen. His mom was adamantly against it, thinking it too rough for a girl to be called Junhou, so they each dropped a character, becoming Lian Jun and Lian Jin.

He had no issue with his character, but since his sister dropped hers, he went along.

He had no choice, his say in the family was too low. As his dad said, they had wanted a daughter, he was purely an accident, but since they were twins, they couldn’t just get rid of him, so they were born together.

The family was large, raising him wasn’t a big deal, but while he never had fine clothes, he did get his fair share of punches.

The family didn’t much care for him, even if he got into fights, his sister dealt with it. If his dad dared to lay a finger on him, Lord Lian would give him a thrashing too, as she said, her brother was her only punching bag.

This caused him to be fearful of Lord Lian, avoiding her whenever possible. He felt there was no need for his sister to drop that character.

Back when he heard his sister had a fiancé, he was delighted beyond words. But before he could enjoy it for a few days, the apocalypse hit, and the fiancé was just gone.

Lian Jin grinned as he leaned over, ”Isn’t it because the frontline is tight?”

”I think you just want a fist!” Lord Lian gave him two solid punches on his sturdy shoulder, finally easing her anger a bit.

Lian Jin’s face changed as he bootlicked, ”Isn’t it those bastards from Deep Blue Data making you angry again, Sis? I’ll go deal with them right now!”

With that, he lifted his leg to leave.

”Get back here!”

Lord Lian said irritably.

”The armed train just sent me a message.”

”Oh? What did they say?”

Hearing this name, Lian Jin’s eyes instantly sharpened, his expression becoming serious.

”That conductor conveyed a message, saying the gunfire they were about to trade with got lost on my turf.” As she said this, the anger Lord Lian had managed to suppress flared up again, her willow eyebrows flaring, ”What the hell does that group of idiots losing their gunfire have to do with me? They’re not my dogs, how could I tie them up?”

”And Su Huan dared to beat up my brother last time, and I haven’t even settled the score with him. Now he’s actually turning around to threaten me! What defiance! Damn!”

As she spoke, she banged her fists on the redwood desk, these punches were much harder than the ones given to Lian Jin, leaving two deep pits on the ten-centimeter-thick redwood desk, with the sturdy legs bursting apart like firewood.

Lian Jin watched the table, his eyelids twitching, his sister’s strength seemed as strong as those shield-bearers on the armed train. How could she ever get married like this?

Over the years, those who just met his sister praised her nonstop, pursuing her eagerly, only to flee, leaving even their clothes behind once they witnessed her ready rhetoric and double-fisted combo.

Finally, there was one who could take a beating, just about to seal the deal, and he ended up dead.

This apocalypse was truly a misfortune.

All sorts of chaotic thoughts flashed by, and only then did Lian Jin realize what his sister had just said.

”That gunfire group got lost?”

Lord Lian took a deep breath, her heaving chest rising and falling, ”Yes, that group of idiots, got intercepted and now nobody knows where the hell they are. In hindsight, we should have taken care of them ourselves!”

Lian Jin grinned painfully in his heart, the ancestral bandit genes in his sister seemed to have truly awakened.

”So the armed train was just asking us to find out what happened, right?”

”That seems to be the case.”

Lian Jin said seriously, ”So, what are you planning? The Deep Blue Data folks also came for a direct conflict with the armed train, right?”

Seeing her brother like this, Lord Lian calmed down, ”If you have an idea, just say it.”

”No matter what faction, whatever they said, we absolutely must avoid conflict with the armed train. Not only would the previous camaraderie go out the window, but it would also be more harmful than beneficial to Donghuang Heavy Industry.”

”Afraid of getting a beating?”

Lian Jin pressed his hands on the table, speaking seriously, ”The Heavy Armor Brigade could take down the armed train, but the conductor could absolutely take down Donghuang Heavy Industry!”

Lord Lian’s eyes flickered, Deep Blue Data indeed offered irresistible benefits, but compared to outsiders, she trusted her brother more.

Admittedly, her internal balance was beginning to tip.

But involving the survival of the company’s tens of thousands of people, she couldn’t make such a decision lightly.

”Knock, knock.”

Yang Ruoyu symbolically knocked on the wall, ”Boss, the people from Deep Blue Data want to see you. They say if you don’t take action now, you’ll surely regret it!”

Hearing this, Lord Lian’s internal balance slammed down completely, she stood up and cursed angrily, ”Tell them to all get out! Do they all think this old lady is a pushover? What guts! Xiaoshui, go get their guns removed at the checkpoint right now! I want them butt-naked crawling out of here! Damn it!”

Lian Jin jumped up excitedly, ”I’ll go do it!”

With that, he turned and dashed out.

Lord Lian huffed as she jumped down from her chair. Before she could steady herself, the table Lian Jin had just pressed on collapsed with a crash.

”Bunch of bastards!”

...

Su Huan didn’t realize that because of a single message from him, Deep Blue Data had a stroke of bad luck. Now, before him sat a full glass of beer, and across the slightly greasy round table sat six men. The one in the middle wasn’t tall but somewhat stout, with short white hair, resembling a simple old farmer.

A few men gathered around him, two even had their hands casually resting on his shoulders, looking quite chummy, yet they all stared at Su Huan with wary eyes.

He was now in a small faction residing on the floating island called the Iron Wolf Corps, composed of local civil servants, workers, farmers, and veterans. According to them, they were well-known locally.

But how well-known, the conductor had no concept.

Su Huan brought his attention back to his glass, just an ordinary heavy-bottomed beer glass. Besides the beer aroma, there were two fruit bits inside that looked like betel nuts, with a faint spicy taste, similar to the dates Su Han used to wash for him, though much weaker, possibly for seasoning. In his past life, he had drunk such mysteriously concocted drinks numerous times in various bars in the wild.

Occasionally, he would get caught by the effects.

But not now...

Su Huan picked up the beer glass and downed it in one go, the spicy beer rushing down his throat into his stomach, leaving a tingling sensation on his tongue.

The men opposite stared at him and started counting down.

”Two”

”One”

”Down!”

Yet, Su Huan sat unmoved, simply twirling the glass in his hand.

The drink did indeed have something mixed in, but it wasn’t poison or anything, purely potent liquor. In the time spent at the bar, he had already seen these guys make several newcomers drink a few glasses each. Whether they were stout men with great drinking capacity or formidable Tier One Evolvers, within five seconds of the countdown, without exception, they would slump over, causing a burst of laughter.

Even the skeptics, like the giraffe, would fall for it.

This seemed to be Iron Wolf Corps’ way of intimidating outsiders. Not quite friendly, but not malicious either.

The sole downside was that this plant caused some latent damage to the body, which only evolvers above Tier One could slowly clear out.

But no one really cared about that.

Staying alive was already a great fortune, getting another mouthful of strong beer was a luck above millions.

”He’s actually fine!”

”And he downed it in one go!”

Seeing Su Huan’s clear eyes, a few of the men shouted in surprise, and one yelled toward the bar, ”Uncle, did you serve fake booze?”

The sturdy old man behind the bar retorted angrily, ”Nonsense!”

The short stout man revealed admiration, but upon seeing the opponent’s finely chiseled and handsome face, gave up thoughts of recruiting, and gracefully said, ”Put the drink on my tab, consider it my treat for this young fellow.”

He stood up to leave.

”Leaving so soon? I was planning to return the favor with a drink.”
