Chapter 1242: Chapter 419: Followers (Part 2)

This made the two women exchange a glance and let out a deep sigh of relief.

The younger sister, Ailida, held her sister, Areda’s hand tightly, as if to offer reassurance.

Meanwhile, Rein took the two sheepskin contract scrolls, which were emanating a mystical aura, and read through them. Then he imbued them with spiritual power through the quill, made some amendments, and handed them to the two women, saying:

”Have a look, and if there are no issues, imbue your spiritual power and sign with your true names.”

”Mm.” The two women took the contracts and began reading them line by line.

The main content is as follows:

”1. The followers must swear absolute loyalty and shall not betray the master under any circumstances.

2. The followers shall unconditionally comply with the master’s reasonable commands, actively execute the tasks assigned by the master, or cooperate fully in combat.

....

5. The master is obliged to provide followers with growth opportunities, including but not limited to guidance in training, imparting combat skills, and supplying various precious witchcraft, Transcendent battle techniques, potions, etc.

....

9. Followers should strive to enhance their own strength to better serve the master.

10. The term of the follower contract is ten years, and followers can leave at any time once it expires if they wish.”

After reading, the eyes of the two women instantly lit up!

The sisters Areda were utterly surprised that the follower contract before them was so... lenient.

Furthermore, Rein had proactively added a tenth clause, setting a time limit on the servitude.

It was known that the vast majority of follower contracts are eternal, terminating only upon the death of either the master or the follower.

Some even required loyalty to the master’s offspring after the master’s death...

”Lord Rein, no, Lord Rein, you’ve written that the follower contract term is ten years, is it true?” the younger sister, Ailida, couldn’t resist asking.

”Of course!” Rein nodded with a smile.

”Thank you, Lord Rein, my sister and I have no objections.” Ailida couldn’t hide the excitement in her words.

She and her sister, Areda, had reluctantly joined the Secret Snake Sect.

Even just now, in proposing to become Rein’s followers, they didn’t want to see either sister die here.

Unexpectedly, there was a turn for the better, and the follower contract even had a time limit.

This meant that the sisters could have a day where they regained their freedom!

This made the two look at Rein with eyes that no longer harbored resentment, but rather a hint of gratitude.

-----------------

As the two signed the follower contracts, suddenly, the contract scroll emitted a dense witchcraft light, and the Areda sisters were momentarily stunned, as if a wisp of their souls had been extracted as testimony.

At this moment, seemingly due to the activation of the contract scroll, the two women’s bodies suddenly burst with a strong energy wave.

Suddenly, above the heads of the Areda sisters, a ten-meter-tall twin-headed giant serpent phantom appeared. Its enormous snake eyes first stared at the two, then the twin-headed serpent phantom shifted its attention to Rein.

Instantly, an indescribable terrifying pressure descended overwhelmingly upon Rein!

”Not good, it’s the Divine Favored Power remaining within us.”

”Because the follower contract was fulfilled, we are deemed as traitors, thus the residual Divine Power within us was triggered!” Areda’s face changed dramatically at once.

Upon hearing Areda’s words, Rein nodded slightly, indicating he understood.

He had just suspected whether this was a performance orchestrated by the other party.

But now it seems, it was not.

The twin-headed serpent before him was likely a tangible manifestation of the Devouring Snake Divine Power left within the two women.

Therefore, although the twin-headed serpent had an impressive presence, its actual combat power should be inferior to a Divine Projection.

Regarding the above judgment, Rein was quite confident.

After all, he was no longer a novice who had never encountered a Divine being.

Moreover, the combat prowess would be revealed in battle!

”Metal Morphing Spell!”

”Cutting Net!”

”Sharpness Technique!”

”Witchcraft Killing Move: Multiple Cutting Net!”

Rein lifted his hand, and, almost out of nowhere, three tightly arranged black metal nets appeared, shimmering with dense silver light, and blasted towards the giant twin-headed serpent in the air!

”Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!”

The twin-headed serpent phantom immediately let out a series of shrill cries!

The entire phantom darkened.

The ensuing battle was devoid of suspense.

Once Rein vanquished the twin-headed serpent’s phantom, a surging vast aura diffused out. It was at this moment that a system prompt suddenly sounded:

[Ding! A trace of unknown high-quality energy that can enhance the crystallization degree of spiritual power has been detected. Absorb? (Note: The system absorption can remove impurities.)]

”Huh?”

”This is...” Rein’s eyes suddenly lit up as if he had realized something, and he silently said ”yes” in his heart!

In an instant, Rein felt the vast power around him seep into his entire body and rush into his mind.

In a very short time, he felt the number of crystals in the silver liquid in his mind increase at a visible pace.

The increase even exceeded that from the Ancient Dragon Soul Potion he had taken earlier.

Seconds later, Rein checked the system panel:

Spirit: 134 (Crystallization 30%)

”It was previously 17%, and now it has reached 30%, a whole 13% more? Previously, taking the Ancient Dragon Soul Potion only increased it by 10%.” Rein was overjoyed.

Unexpectedly, efforts turned to fruitful outcomes.

He had signed a follower contract with the Areda sisters and even gained an unexpected boost in strength.

Rein took out several Healing Potions from his bag and handed them to the two women to recover.

As he needed to set off immediately to rescue Captain Baldwin, Rein had the two women board the modified Hellfire Demon Statues and follow behind.

As for Rein himself, he added a further point to Spirit, recovering his Physical Strength to its peak, and proceeded towards the objective point first.

After Rein left with the two women.

Suddenly, a void energy suddenly appeared among Barnes and his two companions.

The void energy, like a spatial rift, continuously rotated in the air, and eerily stretched out three globular energy strands towards the trio.

As the energy enveloped the trio’s heads, from the outside it seemed as if all three had jellyfish-like transparent coverings over their heads.

The weak Barnes and his companions’ eyes rolled back, and they trembled uncontrollably.

After an indeterminate period of time, the trio suddenly began to virtualize, appearing like semi-transparent gelatinous figures, and then easily stepped out of the Hardened Essence Gold shell that had just trapped them.

Strangely, the three Hardened Essence Gold shells left in place remained intact.

The trio first looked around and, upon detecting the modified Hellfire Demon Statues, quickly pursued forward.

But at this moment, their expressions were somewhat wooden, devoid of any human emotions.

Moreover, if Rein had been present, he would have instantly noticed that while running, their Strength and agility seemed to have increased considerably, yet there was an indescribable sense of discord.

....

At the same time.

Imperial City Tamriel, shores of Falling Star Lake.

Looking around the sky above the lake, there were Imperial Airships circling from all directions, roughly counting, at least dozens of them, and the bronze cannons on one side were aimed at a specific spot in the lake.

However... those were not the most striking sight.

The most striking was a long-bodied adult Red Dragon among the multitude of airships in mid-air.

And the woman in red atop it was the Imperial Guardian, titled ’Red Queen’, Menia.

Following Menia’s grave gaze, one could see beneath the shimmering waters of Falling Star Lake, a massive curtain of light flickering with intense energy waves and a faintly visible portal-shaped light curtain.

And standing quietly above the corresponding position in the water was an exceptionally beautiful woman in a black robe.

Standing on water is not difficult; as long as one masters the ’Water Walking’ witchcraft, even a Third Level Wizard Apprentice can perform it.

If it were merely standing on the water, it wouldn’t be much of a feat.

However, a closer look at the surroundings of the black-robed woman revealed that the surrounding water sparked with a distinct shade of red.

As for the source of the red shade...

There were hundreds of elite Imperial Guard corpses floating up and down in the lake!
