Chapter 1209: Chapter 408: Divine Favored

”You may not know yet, but something major is about to happen in the Imperial City, Tamriel.”

”Perhaps with your strength, there’s not much of a safety concern, but if your family remains in the Imperial City, there’s still a significant risk. So, I suggest you consider whether to let your family head to the Eagle Federation first.”

Upon hearing Hamadi’s words, Rein’s first thought was that the intelligence department of the Eagle Federation must have also caught wind of the cult’s movements.

”Lord Hamadi, is it related to the cult?” Rein smiled slightly and said.

”It seems you already know.” A trace of surprise clearly flashed in Hamadi’s eyes, but he didn’t deny it and nodded.

Because he had just learned this top-secret information himself, he didn’t expect the person in front of him to already know.

It seems that the Sword Holder Headquarters pays more attention to this person than he previously anticipated.

The matter of building connections is a bit tricky indeed.

After a brief consideration, Rein shook his head and politely declined: ”Lord Hamadi, as an Imperial Sword Bearer, sending my family to the Federation is inappropriate.”

It’s not that Rein doesn’t care about his family’s safety.

This time, he accepted Luther and Halowin’s personnel arrangement to strengthen the mansion’s defense, precisely considering his family.

Even though the problems within the Empire are numerous, and the Conservative Party sees him as a thorn in their side, as a Sword Bearer, he is highly valued.

With his status, if he ’defected’ to the Eagle Federation, that would be outright treason.

And most importantly, one of Rein’s life maxims is ’If treated as a National Hero, I will repay as a National Hero.’

Specifically, if the Imperial Sword Bearers treat him with the etiquette and respect due to a National Hero, he will reciprocate with the same dedication.

Additionally, the conversation with Lagaray that day reminded him that even if one day the situation becomes dire enough to send his parents to the Eagle Federation,

he would first consult his mother Emma and father Old Rein for their opinions, as departing from their homeland is difficult for them.

Of course, Rein politely declined, using the word ’inappropriate.’

Hamadi never expected to succeed in persuading Rein in one go, and when he heard Rein say ’inappropriate,’ his sensitivity as an intelligence officer immediately understood something.

His eyes suddenly flickered.

There’s a way!

”This matter is not something Lord Rein needs to decide on urgently. The current situation is always changing, isn’t it?”

”By the way, I heard you’ve joined the Bixiu Mechanization School. Are you interested in golems?” Hamadi asked casually.

”Yes.” Rein glanced at Hamadi without saying much.

It seems the Federation’s investigation of him is quite thorough, as even this is known.

”Lord Rein, then you should come to the Federation. The research on golems over there is more advanced than in the Empire.”

”Oh? Can Lord Hamadi give a brief introduction?” Rein, of course, knew that the other party was dangling bait, but he was genuinely interested in some of the Federation’s details.

”I’m not very clear on specifics, but I heard that the Federation Golem Research Institute has successfully created a type of golem almost thirty meters tall, known as a ’Hill Giant.’

...

After some mutual probing, Hamadi didn’t stay for long and instead took his leave.

When he exited the Rein Mansion, a smile appeared on his face.

Because on this trip, he achieved several of his objectives.

Firstly, he almost confirmed that Rein is not opposed to the Eagle Federation. At least, there’s no ideological confrontation.

If it were to win over the Empire’s old aristocracy, such ideological differences would be a major challenge.

Secondly, there’s the matter of interest, which can be discussed from two perspectives.

On one hand, from Rein’s micro-expressions when mentioning Envoy Treena, Rein seems to have a favorable impression of her.

It’s the kind of affection toward the opposite sex.

However, no matter how worth wooing Rein is, a noble Federation female member cannot be used as a seduction tool.

Hamadi has figured out.

Rein seems to be interested in slightly older and higher-status women.

This is evidenced by his interest in Baroness Crawley Jennifer when he was just a Deputy Chief of Security in a small town, and also when he was an ordinary Sword Bearer, he showed interest in the then-leader of the Sword Bearers Department, Olena.

On the other hand, through discussions about the Federation’s golem research, Hamadi learned that this Lord Rein is very likely already working on golem creation.

This indicates a lot.

It’s important to know that golem creation is generally within the realm of a Third Level Crystallized Wizard,

and typically, merely observing wouldn’t allow for such an in-depth understanding.

...

Soon, having thought things through in the carriage, Hamadi arrived at the residence of his superior, Marquis Roys.

The subsequent matters needed the support of this superior.

In the study.

”Are you saying this Rein particularly likes Envoy Treena?” Upon hearing this, Marquis Roys was initially stunned but then showed a knowing expression.

”It’s quite possible. Young people tend to like mature auras, whereas older folks like you and me prefer youthfulness and vitality.” Roys nodded with a smile.

”Exactly, Lord Roys, indeed.” Hamadi also smiled.

Clearly, on this point, he gained his superior’s consensus, making it easier to propose related requests next.

”So, Lord Roys, I have two plans here.”
