Chapter 1229: Chapter 415: Barnes’s Hesitation

And the younger sister Ailida, due to the recent ambush, had her hood and gray robe torn, revealing her charming face and a set of dark leather armor.

The leather armor only covered the vital areas.

The upper body was a puffed, midriff-baring vest-style chest armor, while the lower body was short shorts barely covering the hips, revealing large patches of fair skin.

In each hand, she held a double-headed battle blade about 1.8 meters long.

The battle blade was different from a sword; the battle blade had a slender and curved arc.

With the battle blade’s grip in the center, both sides had curved blades, making it extremely challenging to use as a single misstep could injure oneself.

However, if mastered, it could slice, chop, or spin with tremendous lethality, and its attack angles were unpredictable, difficult to defend against.

As for the elder sister Areda in the distance, her eyes slightly narrowed, watching Rein.

She had just cast Third Level Witchcraft, Shadow Arrow Rain, hitting once, yet it was blocked by the opponent’s defensive witchcraft.

The subsequent dozen or so Shadow Arrows were swiftly dodged by the opponent.

”Sister, Rein’s strength is great, and he is very fast. Though the intel says he’s a Wizard, I think he’s more like a Titled Knight.” The younger sister Ailida communicated telepathically, instead of speaking out loud.

”Indeed, sister, I’ll impose Disabling Technique and Slow Technique on him later. Your speed already surpasses his, and by then, even more so, so just be cautious in your skirmish.”

The two sisters quickly exchanged and established their combat strategy.

Rein, of course, was not idle either.

With his rapid triple spell casting:

”First Level Innate Wizardry ’Metal Morphing Spell’!”

”Second Level Witchcraft ’Iron Armor Technique’!”

”Third Level Innate Wizardry ’Steel Armor Technique’!”

”Combined Witchcraft: Steel Armor!”

He was soon covered in a thick armor shimmering with a dark silver glow, and then, under the slightly astonished gaze of the two women, he charged rapidly towards the elder sister Areda.

The younger sister Ailida immediately understood Rein’s intention, which was to first deal with her sister responsible for long-range witchcraft attacks, and then come after her.

She certainly couldn’t let Rein have his way.

Ailida’s toe touched lightly on the ground, grass stems burst apart, and her graceful figure, like a phantom, instantly attacked Rein from the side, her right hand’s battle blade swiftly pulling off an inside flower, and slashed heavily towards Rein’s lower back!

Her dash and slash could easily sever steel pillars half a meter in diameter with a single strike.

Generally, a third-level defensive witchcraft was as fragile as paper against her slash.

”Clang!!!”

However, this powerful dash and slash from Ailida was firmly blocked by Rein’s dual-handed greatsword.

Rein’s hands remained motionless, while Ailida was bounced away by the tremendous force of the countershock.

But the counterforce also caused Rein’s figure to pause slightly, momentarily halting on the spot.

Yet during this brief pause, the elder sister Areda seized the opportunity and cast a Shadow Witchcraft ’Disabling Technique’ at Rein.

A ball of black mist suddenly appeared over Rein’s head and rapidly merged into Rein’s body beneath the protection of the Steel Armor.

Rein could distinctly feel a trace of abnormality in his body and immediately realized the opponent had likely cast a negative witchcraft effect on him.

Although his resistance was strong, it was somewhat affected.

As he moved, indeed, his actions or flexibility seemed slowed by about ten percent.

”Sister’s Disabling Technique worked!”

This made the younger sister Ailida’s eyes light up, and upon landing, she rotated her body three hundred and sixty degrees, at the same time, her legs exerted force again, her figure instantly reappearing at Rein’s rear side.

Her battle blade made another beautiful flower in the air, aiming at Rein’s spinal cord, and slashed down fiercely.

”Swoosh!”

A sharp sound cut through the air, ringing immediately behind Rein!

But this time, once again, contrary to Ailida’s expectations!

Rein surprisingly did not dodge but gripped his dual-handed greatsword, performing a three hundred sixty-degree horizontal sweep, seemingly intending to exchange injuries with her.

This couldn’t help but make Ailida chuckle inwardly, her red lips curling slightly.

”I’m natively faster, and now you’ve been hit by sister’s Disabling Technique, hah, you dare to trade strikes with me?”

”I can hit you, but you won’t hit me!”

In an instant, several thoughts flashed through Ailida’s mind.

The speed of Ailida’s battle blade in her hand actually quickened by another three percent, also flickering with a hint of black radiance, then fiercely embedded into the Steel Armor created by Rein’s Combined Witchcraft.

”Puff!”

Yet upon penetration, Ailida sensed something amiss.

The feeling transmitted through the blade was akin to slicing into a rubber mixed with steel sensation, a particularly resilient resistance felt from the blade handle.

This near full-powered chop could merely barely breach the defense of Rein’s Steel Armor, unable to penetrate even a bit further!

This scene shocked Ailida’s heart!

”What kind of third-level witchcraft is this? How can the defensive power be so strong?”

Yet Ailida did not feel disheartened.

As that strike was not entirely fruitless, since it assessed the defensive power of this armor layer on Rein.

In the subsequent move, as long as she imbued her battle blade with a devouring power, she would surely injure the opponent.

However, just as Ailida bent her knees slightly, preparing to rapidly spring backward to avoid Rein’s incoming greatsword strike.
