Chapter 1210: Chapter 408: Divine Favored (Part 2)

“Oh? Tell me.” Roys looked at Hamadi with interest.

“The first plan is whether you could select a mature woman with a high status in the Empire to handle daily communication with Lord Rein. Of course, if she can quietly infiltrate his inner circle, that would be even better.”

“Hmm, what’s the second one?” Roys nodded, a few figures flashing through his mind.

“The second plan is to work with people already there. For instance, Jennifer, who is now responsible for Lord Rein’s business affairs, can be swayed to lean toward the Federation and whisper in his ear.”

“Good idea! However, I see from the intelligence report that the target is now in Mingster. Besides Jennifer, are there other options?” Roys’s smile widened.

He realized he should have sent Hamadi to the Imperial City sooner.

“The other option is the Sword Holder Headquarters’ liaison. The identity is sensitive, making them hard to approach and even harder to turn, not an ideal candidate.” Hamadi shook his head and said.

This candidate, in fact, had been thoroughly considered by Hamadi even before coming.

“I understand.”

“Did you gain any other insights from meeting him?” Roys inquired.

“Yes, I further confirmed through indirect questioning that the individual indeed belongs to the Metal Series Wizard group.”

“Hence, my thinking is, it’s best to find an appropriate piece of Metal Series Witchcraft to gift to him soon. Of course, this comes with conditions.”

“It must be a Federation-exclusive Combined Witchcraft, and we can gift one or two components to Lord Rein, but never the whole set.”

Roys’s eyes lit up, instantly grasping Hamadi’s purpose, and he praised, “Great strategy!”

“However, Lord Rein specializes in Metal Series Witchcraft, and it has to be Combined Witchcraft, being exclusive to the Federation. Meeting these three criteria simultaneously is likely rare within the Federation.”

“Lord Roys, the target ranks third on the list, worth the effort, isn’t it?” Hamadi smiled and said.

“Haha, indeed worth it. Leave it to me.”

“Additionally, special potions for enhancing spiritual power could be occasionally given, like special items or potions that aid in crystallization, but not too much.”

“Maintain daily goodwill?”

“Exactly!” Hamadi nodded with a smile.

The previous gift of a Soul Energy Crystal had maintained a certain level of goodwill between Rein and the Federation.

…

The following morning.

As Rein was about to head to the school base, someone he expected arrived.

“Lord Rein, I heard about your liaison in the Sword Holder being attacked by a cult. I’ve also learned your family has arrived in the Imperial City. Would you like me to make arrangements?”

Buchanan smiled and said.

“Lord Buchanan, thank you for your kindness, but I’ve already reinforced the defensive strength of the estate.” Rein declined tactfully.

“Alright.” Buchanan nodded, though he frowned slightly, as if sensing something.

He continued to ask, “Lord Rein, about my previous suggestion of joining the Dragon Scale Brotherhood, have you thought it over?”

Regarding this question, Rein actually had his answer long prepared.

In recent days, he had contemplated whether to feign interest for a while, but then decided it was inappropriate.

“I’m sorry, Lord Buchanan. After careful consideration, as a Sword Bearer, it’s best not to join any secret organizations.”

Upon hearing Rein’s words, Buchanan’s face sank, seemingly not anticipating Rein’s outright refusal.

This also meant the remark he made previously in front of the Second Prince had been contradicted.

“Lord Rein, your answer is regrettable. Are you sure you won’t reconsider?”

“Apologies.”

“I hope Lord Rein won’t regret it.”

With that, Buchanan left in a huff.

It was not that Buchanan, the Second Prince’s steward, lacked deep thinking but that Rein’s refusal was unexpected.

Because in his view, receiving an invitation from the prince was a sure bet. Anyone reasonable would know how to choose, but Rein unexpectedly refused.

This made the Second Prince’s subsequent plans unable to proceed.

….

Meanwhile.

At Drum Duke Mansion.

“Oh? It was unsuccessful?” Drum listened to the new steward’s report without looking too disappointed; rather, a slight smile played at his mouth.

Although the Black Flame Cult’s plan to kidnap that liaison of Rein’s didn’t succeed, from another perspective, leaking Rein’s exploits had begun to show results.

This time it was the Black Flame Cult, but next time?

It could be the Secret Snake Sect or the Sea God Sect, likely coming in succession!

Thinking of this, Drum Duke’s mood naturally improved.

“There is another matter, sir. According to the line report, Carl, the Tide Sword Saint’s pupil, challenged Rein at the Dragon Knight Reserve camp, but…..”

“But what?” Hearing the first half, Drum Duke had some anticipation for the result.

After all, the formal students of the Tide Sword Saint are all strong and far superior to his illegitimate son, Greenwood.

In his view, it wasn’t that Carl would surely win, but Rein would at least feel pressured.

But hearing ‘but’, Drum Duke had a sense of foreboding.

“Lord Carl was defeated in one move.” The young steward said before lowering his head.

“What? One move?” When Drum Duke heard the news, the many crow’s feet at the corners of his eyes twitched sharply.
