The First Store System

Chapter 1022: The Second Customer!

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Aakesh was relaxing on his chair when he heard the sound of footsteps coming from outside the store. He opened his eyes and turned in that direction. An unfamiliar face was entering the store.

***

”Hello, store owner!” Derby greeted Aakesh after approaching him.

Derby was a non-demon who found the store due to one of the missions he was doing for the Gerard Family.

The Gerard Family was an organization created by a demon named Gerard. Itʼs one of the leading organizations in the nearby Universes, with Gerard being a cultivator at Sacred King level.

Derby was the team leader of one of the teams, and his level was peak Divine Lord.

Frocks was a nearby city to Thorr, and it was also the mission location for Derby. Since the mission was a long duration of hundred years, and Derby was on his off, he was traveling around the area, and one such travel brought him to the store.

***

Aakesh only nodded in response to Derbyʼs greetings and waited for him to ask the important question.

Derby didnʼt make Aakesh wait for long as he next introduced himself and then asked, ”Store owner, what products are available in the store?”

”The store currently sells five products. They are pills, panagea…

… are available in the store,” Aakesh concluded the introduction in a single breath.

Derby became more and more surprised as the introduction went on about the storeʼs products. Especially Panagea. Gerard, the founder of the Gerard Family, also controlled one such technology that allowed people to enter a new world and train.

But the difference between Panagea and that item was like comparing a dwarf planet with an active Universe. It was no more than dust.

***

”Store owner, I want to enter Panagea,” Derby requested Aakesh.

Gerard strictly controlled the item, so entering the world was difficult and expensive. In his ten thousand year tenure with the organization, Derby had only ever participated in that training once.

”You canʼt right now.

You will need to wait for five hours before someone exits Panagea and frees up a spot,” Aakesh responded.

When Derby heard the first sentence, he froze in shock, thinking that the store owner didnʼt want him to enter, but when he listened to the following sentence, he understood that it was nothing serious. Derby also finally understood why six people were waiting in the store.

***

”Thank you, store owner!” Derby thanked Aakesh and then proceeded toward the beastʼs room.

Since no empty spots were available in Panagea, he decided to take a chance in the Beast Summoner Device.

Card Description: The Silver-striped Tiger is a force to be reckoned with. Its agility and keen senses make it a skilled hunter, while its manipulation of space makes it a troubling opponent. With its Space Warp and Space Jump, the Silver-Striped Tiger is a valuable asset to any summonerʼs arsenal.

Price: Seven thousand higher Sacred stones.]

Derby set the summon to be targeted and set it at Divine Lord level. Derby looked at the card in his hands. It was only his first summon.

When Derby saw the beast, he was excited since he recognized the Silver-Striped Beast. But when he saw the quality section, his face became gloomy.

The Silver-Striped Tigers were top predators due to their control over the element of space. But the card in his hands didnʼt have any attacking skills. One was defensive, while the other was movement.

If Derby still had thoughts of buying the beast, they disappeared when he saw the price. Seven thousand higher Sacred stones was an enormous amount for Derby; even if he had that many stones, he wasnʼt going to spend it on the Silver-Striped Tiger, even with its name.

Derby then returned the card to its compartment and decided to activate another round of summoning.

Time flew by, and this was the fourth summons. It would cost Derby ten ordinary Sacred stones, so he hoped to get a suitable beast.

[Name: Lava Bear

Type: Beast

Race: Bear

Quality: Lesser

Element: Magma

Cultivation: Peak Divine Lord

Ability:

Inferno Roar: Roars loudly, unleashing a wave of heat that deals fire damage to all enemies in its path.

Molten Claws: Sharpens its claws with lava, dealing extra fire damage with its attacks.

Flame Body: Covers itself in flames, increasing its defense and dealing fire damage to anyone who attacks it.

Card Description: The Lava Bear is a powerful and fearsome beast, with devastating fire-based attacks and high defense. Its appearance alone is enough to intimidate most foes, and it is not to be taken lightly. The Lava Beast is a valuable asset to any summonerʼs arsenal.

Price: Three hundred higher Sacred stones.]

When Derby saw the Lava Bear on the screen, his eyes were filled with anticipation and he hurriedly looked at the card after it flew into his hands.

Its quality was only lesser, but Derby still felt satisfied with it as a peak Divine Lord was a top-level combat power in these areas.

His chances of becoming a True God were zero, so having a peak Divine Lord partner like Lava Bear was positive. And unlike the Silver-Striped Tiger, the Lava Bear had offensive skills.

When he saw the price of the bear, Derbyʼs eyes shook ferociously. Because he would become dirt poor if he decided to purchase it, he felt his heart tighten.

Derby lived on the verge of death due to the tasks he accepted, so he had made enough in his career of ten thousand years.

ʼWhat shall I do?ʼ Derby wondered in his heart. He liked the Lava Bear for its skills, and the leader Gerard also had a Lava Bear pet, so it added to his decision.

”Fuck it! Letʼs take risks!” Derby mumbled as he decided to buy the Lava Bear.

Since Derby didnʼt have this many stones with him, he decided to sell all assets he had and acquire the amount.

***

”Store owner, will you please hold this card? I will return with money,” Derby requested Aakesh, and he extended his card-holding hands toward him.

”If you need money, the store also offers the option of a loan…” Without Derby asking, Aakesh explained about the loan function to Derby.

***

Derby took every item out and showed it to Aakesh, so Aakesh could tell him how much loan could the store offer.

Aakesh surveyed every item in the cluster of hundreds of different treasures. Some were useless and wouldnʼt even fetch one ordinary Sacred stone, while some were valuable.

Aakeshʼs eyes suddenly stopped at one item in the midst of the heap of random items. He carefully studied it since he found it familiar, and soon he remembered the information.

”Where did you get it?” Aakesh asked Derby, showing him a rusted plate.

”Itʼs my loot,” Derby replied with a confused expression.

”This item can fetch you a loan of three supreme Sacred stones,” Aakesh expressionlessly announced, freezing Derby in shock.

Derby looked at Aakesh with his mouth and eyes wide open, as he couldnʼt believe what Aakesh said. Derby knew the material used in the creation of the rusted plate and knew it was valuable, so he kept it, despite its bad condition. But Derby didnʼt believe that it would fetch him a hundred higher Sacred stones, let alone more than one supreme Sacred stone.

”The material is worth only ten higher Sacred stones, but what makes this item extraordinary is the rune embedded at the corner.”

Aakesh understood what Derby was thinking, so he pointed at the plate and the rune.

Derby focused on the rune and could sense that it was something extraordinary. But it was so small that no one would find it if not for extreme concentration.

Derby couldnʼt help but respect Aakesh after that, as even if he lied to him and didnʼt tell him about the rune, Derby would have never known since it was his first time seeing the rune, and from the price quoted by the store owner, it could be said that it was even more expensive since the store wouldnʼt offer the total sum of the item as the loan.

***

Since the plate was giving Derby enough leverage, he kept it as the only leverage. He was thinking of taking two supreme Sacred stones as the amount, as it would completely change his life. He would never have to care about going for such dangerous tasks.

But after the warning and punishment of not paying, he only took an amount of three hundred higher Sacred stones, the amount he needed to buy the beast.
