Not Being a Trainer This Time

”That’s not so easy.” Naoki threw the Poke Ball in his hand: ”Pikachu, we’re counting on you now!”

A white light flashed, and Pikachu appeared on the battlefield.

The first Gym Battle at Levincia Gym, Tyranitar vs. Pikachu, officially begins!

”Tyranitar, Earthquake!”

The battle begins, and Jean immediately shifts into attack mode. Tyranitar roared at the sky and stomped its right foot forcefully onto the ground.

”Boom!”

The intense shock shatters the earth instantly, opening a deep fissure, with terrifying ground energy erupting from it, rushing fiercely towards Pikachu.

”Pikachu, use Agility!” Faced with the oncoming earthquake, Naoki chose to have Pikachu enhance its speed.

Confronting Tyranitar’s powerful attack, Pikachu’s body emitted a faint blue light, as it turned around and started sprinting rapidly across the field.

Everywhere Pikachu passed, the ground cracked open, with terrifying energy erupting and tightly following behind Pikachu.

”It’s useless.”

”The range of Earthquake’s attack is so vast, and the field is so small. No matter what, your Pikachu can’t run out of the battlefield.”

Jean observed the scene calmly, as if Pikachu being defeated by the Earthquake was just a matter of time.

Pikachu’s figure continually interweaved across the field, and at that moment, its speed increased so much that it almost left an afterimage on the ground.

Pikachu’s speed created a large airflow, causing the sandstorm stirred up by Tyranitar to quickly gather under the effect of the airflow, forming a huge sandstorm ball!

”No wonder it’s a clone of Pikachu!” Naoki narrowed his eyes: ”Now’s the time, Pikachu, jump up and use Electro Ball!”

Upon hearing the command, Pikachu glanced back at the cracked earth, then jumped up suddenly. As it soared high into the air, countless electrical currents began rapidly converging on its tail, eventually forming a huge Electro Ball.

Pikachu spun in mid-air, and with sudden force in its tail, it swung the yellow Electro Ball like a ping-pong paddle.

The Electro Ball landed on the sandstorm ball, colliding with the incoming earthquake shockwave, triggering a violent explosion.

The explosion unleashed a strong shockwave, dispersing the sandstorm weather that had been gathered!

”Hmm? What’s going on?”

”Using the airflow generated by Pikachu’s Agility to gather the sandstorm, then using the power from the collision of Electro Ball and Earthquake to scatter the dust on the field?”

In an instant, Jean realized the Gym Leader was extraordinary.

”Tyranitar, another Earthquake!”

”Pikachu, charge in with Iron Tail!”

After Agility, Pikachu’s speed became extremely exaggerated. Before Tyranitar could raise its hand for the Earthquake move, Pikachu was already in front of it.

The lightning-shaped tail gathered a metallic sheen and struck hard on Tyranitar’s head.

The huge force made Tyranitar stagger, but it didn’t fall.

”At such close range, Earthquake can no longer be used!”

”Tyranitar, use Crunch!”

”Pikachu, use Iron Tail again!”

A ghostly light flickered in Tyranitar’s mouth as its massive body suddenly drew close to Pikachu. Pikachu pushed forward, its tail glowing with a beam of white light, then struck heavily inside Tyranitar’s mouth.

The force almost shattered Tyranitar’s teeth, yet Jean’s Tyranitar was exceptionally strong, quickly regaining composure. It swiftly adjusted its position and swept its thick tail horizontally, knocking Pikachu away.

Pikachu let out a painful cry as it rolled on the ground several times.

”Tyranitar, another Earthquake!” Jean frowned.

Tyranitar roared furiously, pouring its colossal Earth Power wildly into the ground.

For a moment, the earth began vibrating intensely, as the magnificent energy expanded the earth’s surface, cracking speedily, with fissures constantly spreading towards Pikachu.

This time, Pikachu had no chance to evade!

With a boom, Pikachu’s body was sent flying by the Earthquake, landing on the ground incapable of battling.

Naoki: ”... It’s still not working!”

He recalled that Ash’s Pikachu in the anime had defeated many Tyranitars, even Alain’s Tyranitar fell to its hands.

Perhaps it’s because this Pikachu was cloned too early?

Moreover, Ash’s Pikachu traveled with Ash to participate in many competitions, whereas this Pikachu was taken to the World Tree by Mewtwo to live a quiet life...

”Pikachu has lost its ability to fight, the first battle is won by contestant Jean!” The referee checked Pikachu’s status, then announced the result: ”Would contestant Jean like to switch Pokemon?”

”No need.” Jean looked towards the opposing Gym Leader, thinking that although the opponent’s tactics and real-time command abilities were quite good, the strength of the Pokemon was still lacking.

Even if I defeat his Tyranitar, he still has other, more powerful Pokemon.

If nothing goes wrong, this Gym Badge should be mine soon.

Levincia Gym, that’s all it is.

Jean was determined to win.

Across from him, Naoki sighed inwardly.

Who should I send out next?

Jolteon? With Jolteon’s lazy demeanor and lack of training and battle experience, even if it goes out, it might get knocked out in one hit by that Tyranitar’s Earthquake.

I really don’t want this out-of-towner to gain the Gym Badge so easily!

Since Giovanni can use his Armored Mewtwo to greet challengers, sending out this Pokemon shouldn’t be too excessive, right?

With that thought, Naoki took out a Poke Ball from his waist.

Accompanied by a flash of white light, a sharp-eyed, yellow-feathered bird Pokemon appeared on the battlefield.

Electric currents crackled from its feathers.

In an instant, the weather changed dramatically. The once clear sky gathered dark clouds, a terrifying thunder roared within, and with a zap, lightning illuminated the dark clouds.

Seeing this, the spectators in the square widened their eyes instantly.

That Pokemon is...?!

The legendary Thunder God, Zapdos!

The livestream viewers also witnessed this moment, and a series of question marks scrolled across the screen frantically.

Jean immediately recognized that Pokemon; he had traveled through the Johto Region and nearby islands and naturally heard the legend of the Thunder God.

And now... the Thunder God actually appeared here!

What on earth is happening? This Gym Leader actually possesses a Pokemon like Zapdos!

Jean’s eyes widened, and a look of disbelief appeared on his face.

Although the Pokemon battle hasn’t even started, judging by the ability of that Zapdos to change the weather upon its appearance, it’s definitely not something an ordinary Pokemon can do!

Its strength might have already surpassed Gym Leader Level, reaching Elite Level or even higher!

”I’ve read your data; you once participated in the Silver Conference in the Johto Region and the Grand Festival in the Hoenn Region, reaching the top four in both.”

As Jean stood there, still in shock, Naoki wore a smile on his face and then praised:

”You are a remarkable Trainer, but sometimes great strength can make one forget their true self, become arrogant and complacent, and underestimate others. So, from here on, I will use my full strength to accept your challenge!”

”...”

”...”

”...”

At this point, there’s nothing to do but brace myself and go for it!

The second match formally began.

”Tyranitar, Hyper Beam!”

Tyranitar opened its mouth wide as intense milky energy gathered rapidly in it, then transformed into a thick beam, blasting out with a roar.

”Dodge it.”

Zapdos flapped its wings, adjusting its posture and easily avoiding the attack. It swooped toward Tyranitar, and at Naoki’s call of Thunder, a dazzling electric light erupted from its whole body.

In an instant, the thunderclouds in the sky seemed summoned, the terrifying thunder within quickly brewing, ultimately forming a gigantic lightning beam that thundered down from the clouds.

Tyranitar’s body was instantly engulfed by that thunderous light.

On the edge of the square, a girl with pink hair stared blankly at the scene.

She was holding a small Ralts in her arms.

The girl’s name was Kerixia. She had just turned ten this year and had begun her journey with her starter Pokemon, Ralts. Levincia Gym was the first Gym they were planning to challenge.

But now...

Ralts looked up at its Trainer with uncertainty, its mouth letting out a fearful sound.

”Ralts...?”

Is it really going to go up against that Pokemon later?
