Not Being a Trainer This Time

Two days later, Levincia City, Levincia Gym.

Naoki sat in the Gym Leader’s seat, looking at the list of trainers signed up for Gym battles, brought by the gym staff.

“Because Levincia Gym has been closed for three days, we have several trainers here eager to challenge the gym…” Levincia Gym’s receptionist Anya said.

She glanced at the trainer in front of her, is this the husband of their Gym Leader, Lono?

From what she heard, it’s because Lono is pregnant, and Naoki couldn’t bear to see her running back and forth, so he voluntarily came over to help his wife as a substitute.

They have a good man for a Gym Leader! Anya thought.

“No problem, we should finish all battles by the end of the morning.”

Naoki said as his gaze swept across the screen of the tablet, revealing information about five trainers.

[Name: Jinshou, Hometown: Galar Region, Number of Gym Badges collected: 5, Resume: Participated in the Galar Champion Cup, and entered the top 16.]

[Name: Xiao Yue, Hometown: Paldea Region, Number of Gym Badges collected: 3, Resume: None.]

[Name: Jean, Hometown: Hoenn Region, Number of Gym Badges collected: 6, Resume: Top 4 in the Ever Grande Conference, Top 4 in the Silver Conference]

[Name: Kerixia, Hometown: Paldea Region, Number of Gym Badges collected: 0, Resume: None]

[Name: Miju, Hometown: Paldea Region, Number of Gym Badges collected: 1, Resume: None]

“Wow? There are challengers with such rich experience.” Naoki was somewhat surprised as he looked at the profile of the trainer named Jean.

Top 4 in the Ever Grande Conference, Top 4 in the Lily of the Valley Conference, already considered one of the top in the Pokemon World among trainers.

“Gym Leader, we have already sent a message to those trainers this morning informing them of the Gym Leader’s return, they are now at the gym, should we start the challenge?” Anya asked.

“Alright.” Naoki stood up and left Levincia Gym, setting off for Levincia City’s Central Square, which is the venue for the gym matches.

When he arrived there, the area around Central Square was already filled with curious spectators.

Most of these people were fans of Lono, but when they saw the person standing in the Gym Leader’s place was not Lono, but a man, they froze in place.

“What happened? Where’s Lono?”

“Has the Gym Leader changed at Levincia Gym?”

“This person seems to be Lono’s husband! I saw a post from Lono, she said she’s pregnant, so she let her husband substitute for her.”

“If I remember correctly, isn’t he a rancher managing a ranch in the countryside? Can he really handle this job?”

“He’s not just any rancher!”

There was a flurry of whispers from the audience seats.

The noise was too much, Naoki couldn’t make out what they were saying, nor did he make an effort to listen.

He took out his Rotom Phone, logged into Lono’s streamer account, and then started a live stream.

The next second, Naoki saw a barrage of question marks flash across the screen.

“…” After a moment of silence, he spoke: “I’m sorry, I’m not very good at creating show effects, nor do I really understand live streaming, but for her, let’s battle.”

Having said that, the Rotom Phone flew up into the air, starting to film the battlefield below.

At that moment, the first challenger emerged from the opposite player tunnel.

It was a teenager dressed in a black jacket, with short black hair, an arrogant expression, looking both cool and powerful.

This person was named Jean, from Hoenn Region, having participated in two League Competitions and made it into the top 4 both times.

Such a record clearly is not of a newbie, with this in mind, let’s decide the winner with a 3v3 match!

“Welcome to Levincia Gym, I am the Gym Leader Naoki, and I will be competing against you. The match rules are 3v3, if you defeat my three Pokemon, then this Electric-type Badge will be yours.” Naoki said.

“Then let me see the strength of the Levincia Gym!” Jean said with an arrogant expression, his strength having already surpassed Gym Leader level, saying he’s here to challenge the gym, but in truth, he’s just passing through to get to the League Competition to battle powerful trainers.

On this journey, every gym badge had been effortlessly obtained, with only two badges missing, he would soon be able to step onto the stage of the Paldea Conference.

Hearing the tone of the young man opposite him, Naoki squinted his eyes, a challenging opponent indeed!

Sure enough, just as he had anticipated, the young man’s wrist moved slightly, a Poke Ball flew into the air.

A beam of light shot from the Poke Ball, and next, a Pokemon with a large body, covered with armor-like green shell crashed onto the battlefield.

Under the influence of Sand Force, an invisible breeze swept across the battlefield, carrying wisps of dust to engulf the entire battlefield.

The weather changed to a sandstorm!

That’s a Tyranitar with the “Sand Stream” ability!

The moment Tyranitar appeared, the audience felt deeply stunned, some of them retreating far away from the battle area due to the sandstorm’s impact.

Every movement of Tyranitar was exceptionally commanding, and the sand kept drifting around its body as if it were a natural Desert Tyrant.

Tyranitar, a pseudo-legendary Pokemon from the Johto region, with Ground + Dark attributes, extremely effective against electric-type Pokemon.

Is this person trying to use his most powerful Pokemon for a sweep and grab the Gym Badge in one go?
