Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 1243: Chapter 570: Gym Leader Naoki, Paldea’s Strongest Electric Type Gym!

Late at night, Naoki lay in bed listening to Lono talk about Gym Leader duties.

“Guarding the Gym, welcoming challengers, and awarding them Gym Badges, that’s what a Gym Leader does every day.”

“But in the Paldea League, there isn’t a set order for Gym challenges, so sometimes you’ll get new Trainers coming over to challenge, and other times you’ll see Trainers who have collected seven badges come to challenge.”

“At such times, we adjust the Pokemon we send out based on how many badges those Trainers have collected.”

“Of course, not every Gym battle is 6v6, and besides that, you can set the rules according to your own preferences—3v3, 2v2, 1v1, it’s all possible.”

Upon hearing Lono’s words, Naoki breathed a sigh of relief.

This is good. If he were forced to go 6v6, with the lineup of Pokemon he’s bringing, hardly any would pass through.

This way, against those new Trainers, he can send out Jolteon, who hasn’t had much training or battle experience.

And if he comes across an experienced Trainer, then Pikachu will be sent out.

The Pikachu brought by Mewtwo was a clone of Ash’s Pikachu, cloned at a one-to-one ratio, with abilities almost on par with Ash’s Pikachu.

As for Pawmot, Zapdos, and Jirachi, they are reserved for those who’ve participated in League Competitions, have extensive battle experience, or Trainers like the Legendary Beast Trainer Tobias at that level!

“I know, when the time comes I’ll go run the Gym for you, so you can stay at home and rest. Indeedee will help take care of you.” Naoki said.

“Yes, yes.” Lono hugged Naoki, looking blissful: “Then when the time comes, don’t forget to stream live!”

“Live stream?” Naoki hesitated slightly.

Lono: “That way I can see you even when I’m at home!”

Naoki paused for a moment, then smiled: “Alright.”

Lono climbed out of bed and told Naoki her streaming account and password:

“Use my account to live stream when the time comes.”

Naoki chuckled and agreed readily: “Sure, no problem.”

The couple lay in bed, with Koraidon and Pawmot already deep in dreamland beside them.

At this moment, Naoki suddenly remembered something.

“By the way, did you tell Mom and Dad?”

Lono widened her eyes: “Not yet, I forgot.”

Naoki: “…Oh well, it’s so late, they should be asleep by now, let’s call them tomorrow morning with this good news!”

Lono thought they couldn’t possibly sleep so early: “Dad has been immersed in Pokemon games recently, playing Gym Leader and Champion in the game all day long, Mom said he plays from dawn till dusk, it’s only ten-thirty, he probably isn’t asleep yet.”

With that, Lono got up and dialed out.

The phone rang twice, connected, and her father’s voice came through.

“Lono? Up this late and not resting?”

Since Lono had the speaker on, Naoki could also hear.

The couple exchanged glances, then Lono cheerfully said: “Dad, I’ve got some good news for you.”

“What good news? Naoki becoming Champion?” the man asked, thinking that having a Champion son-in-law would certainly be impressive.

“Even better news than that: you’re going to be a grandfather!” Lono said.

“!!!” The man on the other end was shocked: “What?”

Following that, amidst some rustling sounds, Naoki heard his mother-in-law’s voice chiming in: “When did this happen? Have you had a checkup?”

“Yes.” Lono nodded happily: “Naoki and I went to the hospital this afternoon, the doctor said the baby in my belly is very healthy, hehe, you’re going to be grandparents!”

There was a brief silence from the other end, followed by rustling sounds like packing up.

“Wait for us, we’re coming back right now!”

The couple had been traveling in the Galar Region, but upon hearing their daughter’s pregnancy, they rushed back overnight to the Paldea Region.

The next morning, they appeared in the pasture carrying suitcases, not yet having had time to return to Levincia City before heading straight to the ranch.

“Mom and Dad.” Naoki greeted them and went forward to take their luggage.

The woman smiled at Naoki and nodded, then her gaze shifted to her daughter’s belly.

“Is there really a baby?” she asked.

“Really.” Lono confirmed with a nod.

Surprised, the woman covered her mouth: “Oh my God! I’m going to be a grandmother soon!”

“Come inside and let’s talk!” Naoki smiled, inviting them in.

The group entered the living room, not yet seated, and the woman took out gifts from the Galar Region from the suitcase:

“These are specialties we brought back from the Galar Region for you.”

Naoki reached out and received them, while the woman began focusing on Lono’s condition.

“How do you feel? Any discomfort? What would you like to eat, I’ll cook for you.” she said.

Lono giggled, glanced at Naoki across from her, and said: “Don’t worry Mom, I can eat and drink, I’m quite healthy, and whatever I want to eat, Naoki makes it for me.”

The woman relaxed: “That’s good, during these long ten months, you have to take good care of yourself. Have you taken leave from the Gym and the head instructor?”

“No, but Naoki will step in for me!” Lono laughed.

Woman: “…”

It seems their daughter is living a happy married life, so they can rest easy!

Naoki invited them for lunch at the ranch, and after lunch, they returned to Levincia City.

Before leaving, the woman reminded the couple to reach out to her anytime if they encountered anything they didn’t understand.
