In actuality, Old Serge had assembled every seasoned hunter at the base. The food supplies that Leng Jun previously sent are going to run out. A new squad is about to be formed, one that will venture on the surface in search of additional food and seed for the base.

Fortunately, they were able to cultivate some artificial land even below earth. Not much was sown, but enough was for the base to plant some vegetables. Solar panels powered the fake sunlight; they were charged every morning. It is, after all, the same sun they recognized, even if it is unable to melt the heavy layer of snow and ice on the surface.

Old Serge looked thoughtful as they discussed the food issue. With Leng Jun, their strongest elementalist, no longer with them, the risk of going hunting outside has increased threefold. This time, the hunting crew was led by Jeremy, Leng Junʼs second-in-command.

”Jeremy, you will be the captain for this hunting team. Do you agree?” Old Serge asked.

Jeremy responded, ”I agree, but... donʼt call me captain. Only Leng Jun is worthy of such a title. I will try my best to bring as many people back alive. I can only promise this much. I am not as strong as Captain Leng after all.”

Sigh~

”Child, donʼt pressure yourself too much. Maybe Xiao Jun will come back one day.”

An elder or two attempted consoling Jeremy. He and Leng Jun were known to be close brothers. If anyone felt bad about leaving Leng Jun behind that day, it would be him. It would probably be Jeremy who carried the most sense of guilt in his heart.

Old Serge said, ”There is no need to go to the ice forest. Didnʼt they say that the Octopus King is dead? We can try going to the shallow waters of the sea to get some seafood. There is no need to venture deeper into the sea.”

”But what if the Octopus King isnʼt dead? Didnʼt they say that the Octopus King is the cruelest of all Elemental Kings?!”

”At the shallow waters, as long as one is alert, they could immediately escape to the land. Regardless of whether the Octopus King is dead or not, at least itʼs safer in the seas than on the land. The scouts near the Ice Forests territory had increased a lot.”

”Thatʼs right. Itʼs getting harder and harder to survive because of this. This damn apocalypse!”

As everyone in the hall is worried about how they will feed themselves for the next month, one of the guards on duty today came running in, panting. ”He is here!” He was yelling many times, perplexing people with his incomprehensible speech. The only people who seemed to take offense at what their allies had stated were Old Serge and Jeremy.

Regarding Jeremy, he headed to the surveillance room and bolted out of the hallway.

As soon as Jeremy arrived in the surveillance room, he immediately ran towards the monitor and shouted, ”Where is he?”

”Jeremy, Sir! He used the farthest route to reach this place. The password of that door hasnʼt changed at all but for some reason Captain Leng didnʼt want to go inside.”

”North Door Z820. Unlock it for me! Iʼm going out!”

Jeremy left the surveillance room, heading to North Door Z820. As soon as he saw a younger version of Captain Leng, he knew that it was definitely him. He had heard everything from the old man, especially the details about Leng Jun himself.

Outside North Door Z820

Leng Jun made the decision to depart first and make some arrangements on his end because he was undecided about seeing the base personnel. Just picturing how those same folks who used to smile at him would now stare at him icily has him in a frenzy. He decided not to meet them this time, as though he could not take it anymore.

”Chuchu, I think. I am still not ready. Letʼs leave first,” Leng Jun said.

Chuchu, who already felt the presence of other summoned elementals coming over, told Leng Jun, {I think itʼs a bit too late to leave now.}

”What do you mean?” asked Leng Jun.

But before he could respond, a nearby metal door abruptly opened, and before he knew what was going on, someone leaped onto him and gave him a strong hug. It was Jeremy, who ran outside in spite of the below-freezing weather despite having forgotten to wear heavy clothing.

Jeremy said, ”Jun-ge! You are finally back! Donʼt run around this time! We donʼt care if you are no longer human. Our elemental told us about your situation. We understood everything about it.”

”Okay. Calm down. Let go of me,” said Leng Jun.

A little while later, Old Serge and the others also stopped by, just after Jeremy arrived. They are obviously overjoyed by Leng Junʼs surprise reappearance and content that he is back. Well, the residents of Deep Haven still recognize Leng Jun despite the fact that he no longer has the appearance of a middle-aged uncle, with his hair turning reddish and his eyes no longer looking like human eyes.

”Welcome home, son,” Old Serge said.

After Jeremy, Old Serge gave Leng Jun a hug as well. As opposed to their previous encounter, in which he burned his palm simply by grabbing his son. He might give him the same hug as previously. Leng Jun felt the remorse that was hidden in his heart when he saw his fatherʼs burn scar on his hand after he had allowed his father to hug him.

Leng Jun said, ”Iʼm home. Both Chuchu and I...”

”Yes, you guys are back. Letʼs go inside. You can tell us what happens when we are all inside,” Old Serge said.

Now that he was back, Leng Jun experienced what it was like to be at home. He was content with Chuchu, but he felt obligated to take care of the base and his foster father. The human race may have diminished significantly, but as long as there is hope, there will be a future for them. Leng Jun shared his surface adventure with all of them.

What had happened in the south, with the other survivors under the Ice Elemental Penguin Kingʼs protection, how he had encountered the four Ice Elemental Kings on the surface, and how he had vanquished the Octopus King.

They waited a while to listen to Leng Junʼs account of his adventures outside the base because there was a lot to discuss. It might be concluded from his stories that they at last understood the superficial reality of the situation. They had no idea that a ruler of the ice element would support humanity. Moreover, learning the genesis of the apocalypse was unexpected news.

The opening of the base treated Leng Jun the same as before and even teased him with his changes. Like how he suddenly looks a few years younger or his unique hair color and eyes. Everyone wasnʼt afraid of him and was even welcoming. As for the ones he hunted, the men in the base had long carried them over. That day, a huge feast was prepared to welcome Leng Jun and Chuchu back to Deep Haven.

Without those in the underground knowing, their planet itself was in chaos. The trespassing entrance of the Beast Race into the world had caused almost everyone on the surface to be shocked. The elementals were the first to notice the invasion from the other race. Fleets from outer space descended from the sky to the land. The moment these spaceships land, Beastmen warriors pour out of them.

Each eye of these beasts was glowing with excitement and madness. They look around, trying to find the source of strong energy surges within the area, and raid it as before.

A lot of worlds on their way to this planet had suffered from this race. The only thing that gives the other race relief is that they only attack warriors. They donʼt care about weaklings, and they would even choose to ignore them. The warriors who lost to them would die miserably.

The first ones to notice the invasion of the Beastmen are the Elemental Kings. As for the Elemental Emperor at the center of the Federation Star, it kept sleeping after eating something that made it evolve to its current state.

At the Ice Forest, the sleeping Ice Elemental Wolf King, who was taking an afternoon nap just now, abruptly stood at its feet while looking at the sky. He suddenly gave out a loud howl that echoed throughout the whole North Region. Itʼs a call to summon all of his underlings and make them prepare for a fight.

HOWLS~

Under this call, all ice elements within the North Region had run back to the forest to return to their territory. Even those who were sent out had heard this roar from their king and also hurriedly returned to their place. Their investigation is not yet finished, but since they were all summoned, there is no other choice.

The Wolf King said, ”Prepare for war! The planet is being invaded. Our opponents are the Beast Race. Donʼt hesitate and rip them apart!”

Aroooooo~

In the far south, the newly relocated glaciers are still under renovation after the little penguin suddenly stopped eating and ran out of his little castle. The Zookeeper Uncle, the humans, and the other elementals under this little penguin king were all surprised by his actions.

After looking at the sky, the Ice Elemental Penguin King was panicking as it ran around in a circle. Obviously, it is thinking of a way to save its people.

The Zookeeper Uncle stopped the penguin king, who was about to get dizzy, from running in circles. ”Little King, whatʼs wrong this time?”

{Run. No, we need to hide. Hide underwater. Invaders. Some races had invaded this planet. They all have scary auras.

We must run away.} The Little Penguin King tried to explain as much as he could, but the vocabulary of this little one is quite limited.

But the moment everyone heard about the invasion, all of their faces turned white and pale. If itʼs before all their sentinels and guides are still alive, then they might have a way to fight back. Unfortunately, not only had they lost most of their soldiers, but after suffering from the Frozen Apocalypse for years, the human race had indeed gotten weaker.

There is no way they could fight against an interstellar race that came to invade them.

The Zookeeper Uncle asked, ”Little King, when will they arrive on this land exactly?”

{A week at most or maybe less. Father, we need to hide somewhere. They all smell like beasts, yet their auras are weird.}

”The Beast Race? Not only didnʼt they help during our predicaments, they are even invading our planet!”

”There is nothing on this planet for them to salvage anymore! Those damn beasts!”

”Enough! Donʼt waste any more time. Complete the repair as soon as possible! Gather as many resources as possible within three days. We will live underwater until the situation calms down,” the Zookeeper Uncle said to his comrades. ”Little King, order your elementals to help as well.”

{Okay, father. But... Arenʼt we going to inform Brother Hybrid? Didnʼt he say that there are more humans out there?} asked the Ice Elemental Penguin King.

The Zookeeper Uncle said, ”I will send a message to all possible living bases in the world. Thatʼs all we can do right now. Little King, we must save ourselves first.”

{Okay, father. I understand.}

In the west region, in the ice mountains...

The slumbering soul of the Ice Elemental Ninetailed Fox King had opened its eyes from its rest. It sways its nine tails, covering the whole west region with thicker fog, almost hiding everything within it. A lot of illusionary formation was used to hide the whole Ice mountain.

The Ice Elemental Ninetailed Fox mumbles, ”It has finally come, the beginning of chaos and endless tragedy. Whether that child will save the world or not will depend on his heart. I just hope he doesnʼt lose hope after losing everything after gaining it.”
