Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 398: Chapter 347: I... Am the Ancestor!

Everyone watched as Lu Li remained silent, overwhelmed with fear for a moment, and turned their gaze towards Gu Wei.

Gu Wei understood what everyone meant.

In his position, he was supposed to fulfill his duty.

Such as cooperating with everyone to persuade Lu Li.

However, he didn’t do that, ”Mr. Lu, actually, you don’t need to think about it so much. If you really want to reveal your identity, then go ahead and do it boldly. We will definitely handle the aftermath, as much as possible, to minimize the impact on your family and friends. Of course, I can’t guarantee that they won’t be affected, after all, there are too many potential factors, nobody can ensure anything.”

Liu Jiren and the other dozen big shots never expected that Gu Wei would say such words.

For a moment, their expressions changed.

Some even cast a slightly unfriendly glance at Gu Wei.

Lu Li didn’t expect Gu Wei to express such a stance at this moment, which moved him deeply.

He took a deep breath, looked around, and said, ”I can make a statement here, since Old Gu has said this, I’ll give him face, and not reveal my identity later, but remember, I’m doing this for Old Gu’s sake, not for any other reason, especially you, Mr. Liu Jiren, think twice before you speak in the future!”

Liu Jiren hurriedly put on a smile and said, ”I understand, I understand.”

”Mr. Lu, we understand.”

”Rest assured, in the future, whatever we say or do, we will think twice about it first.”

”Hehe, it’s really for the best that you don’t reveal your identity. We’ve prepared a script for you, see if there are any issues, if not, just read it to the reporters later, and leave the rest to us.”

A group of people expressed their stance in a flurry, trying to reassure Lu Li as much as possible.

Lu Li, with an unpleasant expression, took the script and glanced at it, finding that it roughly informed the reporters that he had been at the Aircraft Research Center in Jinling over the past ten days, conducting the development of a new generation of bombers.

There were also some convincingly fake composite photos.

These composite photos not only included his daily activities but even noted the shooting time in the top right corner.

It was evident that Liu Jiren and others had long thought of a way to handle this.

Actually, the outside world might not necessarily believe this pretext.

But since he had stated his position, whether they believed it or not, they had to believe.

Because the outside world had no direct evidence to prove he was the Ancestor man.

Lu Li glanced at it and said, ”Okay, I got it.”

...

Precisely at five in the afternoon.

The Pillarless Banquet Hall was already packed.

Looking around, there were professional cameras set up all around.

Photographers were adjusting the equipment and angles, trying to align with the position of the freestanding microphone in the front and center.

The rows of reporters below had already taken their seats.

There were men and women, old and young.

Most were reporters from Huaxia.

Of course, there were also foreign reporters.

All these reporters had a common feature, holding voice recorders in their hands.

”Is Great God Lu Li the Ancestor man?”

”Hard to say, we’ll have to see how he announces it later.”

”How else but to deny it?”

”Yeah, since there’s no direct evidence outside, there’s no need to admit it.”

”If it were me, I wouldn’t admit it either, it would affect life too much.”

The reporters were whispering among themselves, expressing their inner thoughts.

Up until now, they all believed that even if Lu Li was the Ancestor man, he definitely wouldn’t admit it.

The reason was very simple, like Liu Jiren and others mentioned earlier, if Lu Li admits to being the Ancestor man, it would bring many inconveniences to himself and his family and friends.

Or rather, there was not the slightest benefit for Lu Li to admit he was the Ancestor man.

If so, why admit it?

Amid the expectations of hundreds of media outlets and one or two thousand reporters and photographers, Lu Li ascended the dais at the front accompanied by a group of people.

”Quiet!”

”Quiet!”

The on-site staff maintained order.

A thousand or two thousand reporters quickly quieted down, staring ahead.

The press conference host was a young woman with short shoulder-length hair.

She stepped up to the microphone to lay down the rules, ”Because there are quite a few reporter friends attending today’s press conference, and our time is rather tight, later whoever wants to ask a question must raise their hand and can only do so when called upon, and also, each person may only ask one question, understood?”

”Yes.”

”Understood.”

The reporters responded in small groups.

After receiving affirmative responses, the young woman spoke into the microphone, ”Alright, now let’s welcome Mr. Lu Li to the podium.”

Applause erupted below.

Click, click.

Numerous camera flashlights flashed brilliantly.

Amidst the anticipation of the crowd, Lu Li slowly ascended the interview stage and came to the freestanding microphone.

Then he recalled the content of the script provided by Gu Wei, Liu Jiren, and others, preparing to read it.

”Recently, there have been ongoing rumors online that I am the Ancestor man.”

Lu Li spoke slowly, ”This matter has happened repeatedly, the first time over half a month ago. I clarified it in a live stream on the internet. Who would have thought, half a month later, the rumor spread online again, and this time, the things the Ancestor man did in the Ugly Country and Niger had a rather bad influence. If I didn’t come out to clarify this, it might have some very negative impacts on our Huaxia, and thus, I’m standing here.”

”Looks like he’s going to deny it.”

”From his tone, it’s a sure thing.”

”Denying it is actually the best choice, less hassle that way.”

Although the reporters felt disappointed, they knew that Lu Li denying it was actually the best choice at the moment.

Backstage, upon hearing Lu Li speak, Gu Wei, Liu Jiren, and other big shots saw how cooperative he was, and they all nodded continuously.

As long as Lu Li firmly denied it, no one could equate him directly with the Ancestor man.

At this moment, Lu Li on the interview stage continued slowly, ”As for many people saying I am the Ancestor man, I find it very absurd. I was not born to be a superhero material, obviously, I have a list of personality flaws and have made numerous mistakes, such as performing magic tricks on a live stream without revealing the tricks, letting everyone mistakenly believe it’s Magic...”

Here, a voice came through his earpiece from Liu Songren backstage, ”Mr. Lu, you don’t have to say too much, the more you say, the more loopholes there are, just read from the script, leave the rest to us.”

Lu Li nodded slightly upon hearing the voice, indicating he understood.

He clearly understood that the backstage could see the scene of his current clarification.

”He’s said it well.”

”It’s certain that he’s going to deny.”

”Sigh, in the end, it’s still a denial.”

”Although I understand, I feel really disappointed.”

”Who doesn’t? We all rushed here today, hoping to dig out a world-shattering big news, like him admitting to being the Ancestor man, but unfortunately, he won’t admit it.”

”Not admitting is actually correct, stop spouting nonsense.”

”Mm, trust Great God Lu Li, trust the official arrangement of this press conference, don’t speak carelessly.”

While the thousand or two thousand reporters sighed softly, they still expressed understanding once again.

”The truth is...”

Lu Li continued recalling the speech script, but his gaze involuntarily drifted to the disappointed faces of every reporter below, then fell into a brief silence.

Perhaps seeing him not speaking, Gu Wei, Liu Jiren, and others backstage felt a slight unease.

The reporters in the banquet hall too showed a look of confusion, wondering what was going on with Lu Li.

Suddenly, Lu Li raised his head, facing each camera, looking at each flashing, dazzling flashlight, and at every reporter present.

Although he still did not speak, his eyes gradually became firm.

At this moment, Lu Li seemed to have made up his mind, all the chains binding him were broken free!

”The truth is...”

Lu Li repeated the previous words, then with a firm and powerful tone said, ”Actually, I... am the Ancestor man!”
