Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 365: Chapter 321: How Far Can I Push Back

For any member of a major consortium in the Ugly Country, Mr. Ancestor is an extremely terrifying existence.

Terrifying to the point that just mentioning him makes all members of major consortia in the Ugly Country turn pale.

The main reason is that the things Mr. Ancestor has been causing recently in the Ugly Country are too terrifying.

For instance, even as strong as the Morgan Clan, they are still no match for Mr. Ancestor.

In one night, fifty states were swept through, and all family members were captured.

Another example is how Mr. Ancestor previously created a terrifying explosion near the waters around New York, comparable to a multi-million-ton nuclear weapon, shocking the entire Ugly Country, causing the Dow Jones Index to plummet over the past two days, affecting the whole world.

These are not even the most crucial things.

The most crucial thing is a news report that just came out today.

That is, Mr. Ancestor plans to wipe out all members of the Morgan Clan six days from now.

Such a high-profile public statement makes it obvious to everyone how terrifying the events six days from now could be.

As long as the Bald Eagle wants to maintain its international deterrence, it will stop at nothing to prevent this from happening.

The magnitude of the conflict could be unimaginably great for the world!

Barbara Wells Giannini looked at Lu Li beside her with disbelief in her eyes.

She never expected that Mr. Ancestor, whom all members of the Ugly Country consortium feared like a tiger, was sitting right in front of her so openly.

What she didn’t expect even more was that Mr. Ancestor was actually her daughter Julia Giannini’s boyfriend!

After a brief daze, Barbara Wells Giannini seemed to think of something suddenly.

She let out a slightly terrified scream and abruptly stepped back several paces.

Unfortunately, there was a sofa behind her.

Thus, Barbara Wells Giannini, unable to keep her balance, fell directly onto the sofa.

Seeing this, Lu Li stood up with a hint of concern and offered a helping hand, ”Madam, are you alright?”

Barbara Wells Giannini was so frightened her face turned pale, her hands flailing uncontrollably, ”Don’t... don’t come closer!”

Lu Li chuckled wryly, knowing he had scared her.

He decided not to concern himself further with Barbara Wells Giannini.

Lu Li turned his head towards Henry Giannini and pointed at the sofa beside him, ”Sir, shall we sit down and have a good talk?”

Henry Giannini appeared outwardly calm but was inwardly as terrified as if someone was beating a drum in his heart.

He swallowed nervously and cautiously said, ”Al... alright.”

Saying this, Henry Giannini carefully made his way to the sofa, sat down, and helped his wife up along the way.

The couple looked at Lu Li with faces full of fear.

Lu Li sat back down on the sofa and softly said, ”Mr. Henry, perhaps you didn’t hear the content of the conversation I had with your wife outside. Let me repeat it here for you.”

Henry Giannini forced a smile and gestured with his hand, ”Please go ahead.”

Lu Li crossed his legs and said, ”Hmm, here’s the thing, I’m dating Julia, but Mrs. Giannini mentioned that Julia has a marriage contract with the Fager Clan, which I don’t like. I hope your family can cancel the engagement with the Fager Clan.”

Upon hearing that Lu Li is Julia’s boyfriend, Henry Giannini suddenly gained a bit more courage and was no longer as fearful as before.

He tentatively said, ”Mr. Ancestor, it wouldn’t be difficult to cancel the engagement with the Fager Clan, but this marriage was arranged while my father was alive. Now, the Fager Clan is much stronger than our Giannini Clan. If I hastily cancel this engagement, it could cause disharmony within the California Consortium and invite retaliation from the Fager Clan.”

Barbara Wells Giannini nodded beside him, indicating her husband wasn’t lying.

Lu Li calmly said, ”These problems you’ve mentioned, I’ll handle them for you later. For instance, I’ll call all members of the California Consortium together and have a talk with them. As for retaliation from the Fager Clan, if they really dare to do so, I’ll make them disappear from Earth just like the Morgan Clan. Convey these words to them.”

”I know a big person like you has that ability.”

Henry Giannini first flattered him with a sentence, then cautiously explained, ”But you might not be very familiar with the way consortia interact. If I really do this, perhaps the California Consortium internally, as well as the Fager Clan, wouldn’t dare do anything to our Giannini Clan, but they would certainly become distant afterward. This would lead to our family losing access to a series of superior resources, not just within the California Consortium but also some external partner consortia. They might also distance themselves from our family because of your involvement, ultimately leaving our family to fend for itself.”

At this point, he carefully explained why, ”Right now, it might seem like you’re fighting against the Morgan Clan and have achieved an overwhelming victory, but actually, anyone within the consortia knows that our entire Ugly Country consortium is battling you. Regardless of whether you win this battle or we laugh last, the rift with the Ugly Country consortium will certainly be irreparable. So, asking me to cancel the engagement with the Fager Clan... no, or rather, if the outside world finds out that our Giannini Clan is associated with you, it could very well be a catastrophe for us!”

Lu Li knew Henry Giannini was speaking the truth.

If he forced them to do so, the Giannini Clan would indeed face joint retaliation from other consortia.

Normally, he definitely wouldn’t ask the Gianini Clan to make such a big sacrifice.

But now the situation is different, he must make the Gianini Clan do this.

Lu Li said lightly, ”Julia is pregnant.”

As soon as these words came out, Henry Giannini and his wife were stunned!

They never expected that Julia would actually be pregnant!

This means the Gianini Clan has no way out!

Or rather, they do have a way out.

In fact, if they want to protect the Gianini Clan from retaliation by other consortia, there’s only one thing they need to do.

And that is to ”expel” Julia Giannini from the family.

The problem is, Henry Giannini doesn’t have the guts!

After all, Julia Giannini’s boyfriend is ”demon” Mr. Ancestor!

In an instant, both Henry Giannini and his wife fell into silence, the wry smile on their faces growing more intense.

Even though Lu Li didn’t activate any telepathy, he could roughly guess the couple’s inner conflict.

He gently tapped the coffee table, producing a crisp ”thud thud” sound, ”You need not worry, maybe breaking off the engagement with the Fager Clan now will lead to situations you fear, but in six days, after I deal with the Morgan Clan, they wouldn’t dare harm you even if given a hundred chances.”

Henry Giannini repeatedly gave a wry smile, ”Maybe... but... sigh, I don’t know what to say.”

Lu Li smiled, ”Even if they unite against the Gianini Clan, you needn’t be afraid; what’s most important to a consortium? Control of interest and wealth. If I handle the Morgan Clan, even if they attack your family or withhold resources, I can rejuvenate your family, like providing you with technologies far beyond the current era, helping you capture market shares of other consortia. People, once scared, will relent. When your family holds a certain amount of market share, those consortia will rush to collaborate with you rather than deny wealth. Henry, don’t you think I’m right?”

Henry Giannini said, ”What you say makes sense, provided our family gets technology products that can quickly gain market share...”

Lu Li interrupted, ”Later, prepare a report on the industries the Gianini Clan involves, give one copy to me. Once I’m done with the Morgan Clan’s issue, I will give you a satisfying answer.”

Henry Giannini dared not say much more, pinching his nose he said, ”Alright.”

As the wife of the family’s sect leader, Barbara Wells Giannini is naturally cultured and well-mannered, knowing when not to interject.

Thus, even if she had other thoughts, she remained silent.

Seeing they agreed, Lu Li didn’t mince his words, saying directly, ”Julia is now pregnant, she might not know yet, but I have some supernatural abilities that allow me to confirm this. So, in the coming days, I hope your family will take good care of her. As for me, I have some matters to attend to, and cannot talk with you further for now. When Julia wakes up, tell her I’m busy and will come back when I’m done.”

”Alright.” Henry Giannini felt a wave of relief when hearing Lu Li was leaving, he stood up, ”Shall I see you out?”

Lu Li waved his hand, ”No need.”

With that said, his body suddenly vanished before the couple.

Henry Giannini and his wife exchanged a stunned look.

Even though they already knew Lu Li was Mr. Ancestor, witnessing ”instant teleportation” for the first time left them utterly shocked.

Though Lu Li had disappeared, the couple didn’t speak for a while, afraid that ”gods are watching three feet above,” overhearing their conversation.

About ten minutes passed.

Barbara Wells Giannini tentatively asked, ”Henry, what should we do?”

Henry Giannini frowned, ”We must perfectly execute what he asked us to do.”

Barbara Wells Giannini said, ”You mean we should now cancel the engagement with the Fager Clan?”

”The engagement must be canceled, but it doesn’t have to be right now.”

Henry Giannini’s gaze turned profound, nothing like the ”cowardice” from before.

He said firmly, ”Let’s first see the reaction after he deals with the Morgan Clan, then decide how to cancel the engagement with the Fager Clan!”

Yes, Henry Giannini knew the engagement must be canceled, or else their family couldn’t withstand Mr. Ancestor’s wrath, but there are various ways to cancel an engagement, like ”ceding territory and paying compensation,” or ”showing a tough stance.”

Which exact method to use depends on the reaction of the consortia after Mr. Ancestor wipes out the Morgan Clan.

If the reaction is very intense, Henry Giannini would have to sacrifice some interests and make compromises.

But if Mr. Ancestor completely intimidates those consortia...

Henry Giannini squinted his eyes, thinking silently, ”Sorry, I will let you all see how tough I can be with Mr. Ancestor as my son-in-law!”
