Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1332: Chapter 72: The Ceremony

The entire dock was as silent as a thousand-year-abandoned ancient castle.

People silently watched this Fatty in front of them. Their eyes were filled with curiosity, disdain, anger, confusion, regret, and pity. A myriad of complex expressions.

The live broadcast of that rescue operation left a deep impression. As soon as they saw this Fatty, they recalled him jumping out of the Mecha, raising his hands in surrender.

Even though everyone knew that before this, it was this Fatty who led the Suicide Camp in a nearly suicidal mission, buying the Allies crucial hours during the Northern Mountain Region battle. It was also he who led the troops in a desperate retreat through the mountains, fighting to the bitter end.

Simultaneously, people speculated about what must have transpired inside that Command Mecha when the Jiepeng Armored Division unexpectedly announced their surrender.

Many even tried to exonerate this Fatty. Some speculated on the authenticity of his surrender, based on his brave charge with the Suicide Camp and various signs from military and government officials and propaganda.

Yet, even the most sympathetic people without malice or prejudice admitted that when they envisioned this Fatty surrendering, the only impulse was to rush forward and beat him up!

Not anywhere else, just on the face!

War in the human world has never ceased since ancient times. Throughout history, many have surrendered. On the conquered battlefields, in surrounded city ruins, during surrender ceremonies after wars... but nobody has surrendered as disgracefully as this Fatty!

Recalling the moment he jumped out of the Mecha—what sort of face was that?

Obsequious, humble, terrified, cowardly, ingratiating... when he spun in place with his hands raised in surrender, the expression on his face was something no human could make.

You could say he was like a dog with its tail between its legs, like a raccoon beaten black and blue, like a cat picked up by the scruff, like a trembling rabbit... but you absolutely can’t say he resembled a human! He completely disgraced every soldier, every man, and even the entire human race!

This damned goblin!

How could he appear here?

Fatty excitedly waved at everyone. Behind him, over twenty soldiers of varying ages with nonchalant expressions and dozens of white-uniformed researchers gradually disembarked from the cruiser. A stunning girl stood quietly beside Fatty, looking like a fair and delicate bird nestling close.

In an instant, chaos broke out in the entire port.

”Damn it, all the good cabbages have been taken by pigs.” This was jealousy talking.

”Don’t hold me back. I’m going to beat this Fatty up. Damn it, today I’ve got my chance. Even if I’m hauled before the military court tomorrow, I’ll take it! It’s rare in life to be so damn satisfied for once... Who’s pushing me? Come out!” This was bravado.

”What’s this Fatty guilty of?” This was someone unaware.

”Let me tell you, this Fatty is no ordinary character. In my life, I’ve never seen anyone like...” This was someone who loved to play the expert.

”Pah!” This was straightforward.

The entire dock was like a boiling pot.

”Fatty?” Margaret was taken aback. The Chuckna military and government officials beside her, along with several Allied Generals, were also flabbergasted. Nobody expected Fatty to arrive at this moment. Moreover, he brazenly barged into the welcome ceremony for the Feiyang troops, recklessly showing up before everyone’s eyes.

Even more infuriating was the unexpected simultaneous arrival of the bandit army, who not only arrived together but also blocked the Feiyang vessels behind them. Clearly, these folks were making way for their officer whom they had just encountered at the port.

After a brief stalemate, the bandit army’s four large Transport Ships gradually docked at the berth. The eight delayed Feiyang Giant Transport Ships finally drew closer to the berth after repeated light signaling from the Chuckna guiding ship, engaging their docking equipment with the pier.

With the sound of loud mechanical operations, the heavy hatch opened, and bandit army soldiers in blue uniforms and Feiyang soldiers in gray-brown uniforms simultaneously came out.

As soon as the soldiers from both sides appeared, the crowd erupted in even louder commotion.

From the first Feiyang Giant Transport Ship emerged the highly anticipated Feiyang Double-headed Eagle Second Division.

This division, equipped entirely with Eleventh Generation Long Blade Mecha, would be the pinnacle of this era if not for the news of the successful joint development of the Twelfth Generation Mecha spreading worldwide.

One Mecha after another exited the hatch, loaded onto the heavy rail transport vehicles on the dock, while those sleek and powerful Mechanical Warriors arranged themselves along the lengthy jetty. Their swift movements, explosive physiques, and strict discipline drew the admiration of the observing crowd.

From the second to the sixth Transport Ship, the troops that emerged were the Feiyang 6th Army and the newly formed 39th Army. Although these two armies were elite, with the 6th Army having three ace divisions equipped with the Tenth Generation Divine Gift Mecha and some Eleventh Generation Long Blade Mechas, their attention was significantly overshadowed by the earlier shock of the Double-headed Eagle Second Division.
