Chapter 1328: Chapter 70: Flight to Hanjing

Walking into the communications room, the heavy metal automatic door closed behind him, and Fatty sat on the swivel chair, lightly touching the virtual keyboard in the air, opening the communication screen.

After a crisp electronic sound, the virtual light screen suspended in the void quickly unfolded. The light converged, and Russell, holding a pipe, appeared on the screen sitting behind his desk.

”Teacher.” Fatty called with lowered eyes.

Russell nodded, looked at Fatty seriously for a long time, then lightly smiled and said, ”I heard you’ve become quite famous in the Fei Alliance. Crying and fussing to surrender in front of billions of viewers. In human history, you’re probably the only one who has done that.”

”Who knew the command center would suddenly do a broadcast,” Fatty scratched his short hair, exerting great effort to squeeze out a helpless expression on his face and said, ”Pipi acted too emotionally, couldn’t control it for a moment. Acting is like this. Forget it, it’s seen and done with. Anyone else would probably really have surrendered.”

Russell waved his hand and said, ”I don’t blame you for anything, what you did in this event was correct. What the public thinks now doesn’t matter. What matters is what Chuckna’s high ranks and the Allies’ leadership think. But...”

Russell gently tapped the table with his pipe, frowned and said, ”Because Pipi’s existence cannot be exposed, I’m afraid even many of the military’s top brass don’t know what really happened at the time. Since Marshal Hastings personally issued orders, obviously you cannot reverse the public’s impression in the short term. What you need to be careful of now is that some people in the Fei Alliance Supreme Joint Council will use this matter to sway public opinion.”

”Who?” Fatty was taken aback. Since when did I provoke people in the Supreme Council?! Once I find out who is against me out of nowhere, I’ll definitely beat him up!

”Do you know why you were summoned to Hanjing at this time?” Russell lit his pipe, answering with a non-response.

”I don’t know,” Fatty shook his head honestly, ”It’s said that the Alliance Command Center wants to see me, I guess Margaret needs me to meet Marshal Hastings. After all, we are partners now, needing to work together.....” At this point, Fatty suddenly jolted, ”You mean, Leefer.....”

Russell solemnly nodded: ”This person’s reputation is soaring, and his skill in leading troops in battle is indeed exceptional. Many people have already begun to pave the way for him to succeed Hastings. This person has never underestimated any opponent; since your direct clash with him last time, the bandit army is like a thorn in his side. Especially with your relationship with Margaret......”

Fatty blushed, having not yet had a relationship happen..... Teacher is hinting, definitely hinting. So naughty, he actually teaches me to make a move... Why is it always me sacrificing for the country?

Russell didn’t know the chaotic thoughts in his disciple’s mind, only found his strange facial expression slightly odd, and then let it go, continuing: ”After we captured two Binart Elephant-class Fleets in the Longbow Star System, the Supreme Council had once tried to intervene. The congressman who raised the proposal, named Robert Kerry, it’s certain that he is one of Leefer’s spokesmen in the Supreme Council. Also, Fang Xiang recently sent back news from Mars that someone has already begun trying to divide and woo the Sect Mutual Aid Alliance’s Sect Masters, but currently, Mars is a solid piece for the bandit army, and they cannot penetrate it.”

Russell spoke, getting up from behind his desk, walking to the camera seriously, and said: ”Now, you are Leefer’s main opponent!”

”But,” driving away the tragic thought of sacrificing himself for the country, Fatty asked puzzledly: ”From the current size of the bandit army, we are still nowhere near being Leefer’s opponent, besides, whether in Feiyang Country or the entire Allies, we aren’t heavyweight at all, he shouldn’t regard me as an opponent. Isn’t Margaret his opponent?”

”Previously no,” Russell said calmly: ”However, since you saved Marshal Chuckna Li Cunxin and led the Canglang Star landing campaign, Leefer must face your existence. First, it’s certain that the current bandit army and Chuckna are in a honeymoon period. With Chuckna as a backing, your influence, of course, rises straight up. Secondly, Hastings directly came to the command center, directly focusing on this battle, which also sent a signal. Plus, most of the reinforcements sent by the Feiyang Republic to Resk are Hastings’s subordinates who have dealt with you and even benefitted from you, if Leefer does not become alert, he wouldn’t be Leefer.”

”Hastings sent a signal?” The naive look on Fatty’s face vanished: ”You mean.....”

Russell nodded and said: ”In Feiyang Country, Margaret’s prestige is obviously not comparable to Leefer’s. If anything happens to Marshal Hastings, the Feiyang Republic Military would be controlled by Leefer alone. Of course, your identity means you are not suitable to compete directly with Leefer for the position of Feiyang’s top figure, but Margaret has such an opportunity. What she needs is just achievements and time. If you are cultivated to become the leader of the Fei Alliance Joint Army, with your help, Margaret may have a chance.”

”Me?” Fatty looked down at his fat with surprise, pointed to his nose, and said: ”Leader of the Fei Alliance Joint Army?”

”This is just my conjecture,” Russell tapped the ashes out of his pipe thoughtfully and said: ”I believe that Marshal Hastings, knowing his own health condition, started preparing alternative paths early. If before he had many doubts, then after seeing Pipi, he would focus on you with far more passion than on others. Moreover, the relationship between you and Margaret.....”
