Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1329: Chapter 70: Flight to Hanjing (Part 2)

Hints, he hinted again. Fatty’s heart was overflowing with tears. For the sake of national and ethnic integrity, it seems this hurdle is insurmountable.

”You mentioned earlier that someone tried to interfere with the fleet,” Fatty asked, desperately trying to alleviate his guilt, ”what’s happening now?”

”No major shifts, I suspect Margaret won’t just stand by as someone targets you,” Russell replied, ”but I am certain that someone will seize this opportunity to bring up old issues again.”

With that, Russell picked up a document from his desk, clicked it open, projecting subtitles onto the virtual screen, and said cautiously: ”I just received this yesterday, under Marshal Hastings’ directive, the new generation Mecha will be prioritized for the bandit army. This plan has already sparked an uproar within the Alliance forces.”

”Really?” Fatty quickly scanned the document, happily saying, ”Who cares about big or small waves, we’ve seen it all. If they don’t equip our bandit army with it, do they think they can withstand Binart’s Twelfth Generation Mecha?”

”Of course, we’re aware of our own situation, and it seems justified,” Russell shook his head, ”but others won’t see it that way. Especially Leefer!”

Leefer!

Hearing the name, Fatty felt an indescribable sensation in his heart.

Clearly, the priority equipping of the new Twelfth Generation Mecha will be a spark. It will ignite this powder keg already filled with explosives.

Recalling the previous warships seen on the way to Resk, and the congressman in the Supreme Council attempting to interfere with the bandit army, Fatty knew that in Marshal Hastings’ declining health, Leefer, who had emerged from the shadows, enjoying a peak in his reputation, no longer needed any concealment. He was like a bright, sharp blade drawn from its sheath.

This blade will undoubtedly wield recklessly. He has the ability, and the right.

But at least for now, everything is still under Hastings’ control. The situation I face now has the scent of this unseen old fox. He’s setting up a trap silently. As for who between Leefer and myself will jump out of this trap first, or if there’s a hidden third competitor outside the trap, I am merely the target set by the old fox......until the end, no one can see clearly.

”By the way, let’s talk about the situation with Longbow and Leray,” Russell said, ”Fiscella’s Southeast Expeditionary Army has become very active due to our presence, and the Western Alliance’s forces in Leray are clearly insufficient to support their two-front battle. Protecting Leray Central Channel is already impressive. It’s their lifeline, should the Resk Battle be disadvantageous, all hopes of Suss and Jiepeng depend on Leray Central Channel. If this connection to the Binart Empire is lost, they will have no reinforcements to rely on.”

Saying this, Russell checks a document on the desk and says: ”Moreover, the bandit army’s Army First Armored Division and Second Armored Division, a total of ten groups. Among them are six combat groups, two engineering groups, and two Special Forces Groups. This was ordered by Admiral Bernadotte, they’ve set off for Hanjing six days ago. They will serve as your independent command forces, participating in the Resk Battle. Also, escort some non-combat personnel, including your Mother Ann, to Hanjing. They’re expected to arrive simultaneously with you.”

After chatting a bit more, Russell glanced at the time and said: ”Alright, that’s roughly the situation here, anything else, Fang Xiang will inform you. I reckon she’s grown impatient waiting for you. I’ll switch you over.”

The screen changes, and after a moment, an incredibly beautiful face, teasing yet joyful, appears on the virtual screen.

”Sister Xiang....” Fatty reclined in his chair, stretching his legs and lazily leaning back. For some reason, whenever he saw Fang Xiang, he felt comfortable and relaxed.

”I just watched your surrender video,” Fang Xiang started off with a look of annoyance, then quickly covered her mouth, laughing uproariously: ”You should win an Oscar.”

Fatty foolishly gazed at the Saleria female Major General, four years his senior.

The sharp blue bandit army uniform collar was raised high, exposing an unbuttoned white shirt and a small patch of snow-white skin beneath her neck. The waist of the uniform was cut narrowly, excellently highlighting her slender waist. The line then curves down into a sudden swell. Her full, round hips, like a tremble-inducing jiggly jelly when slapped.

It’s the blooming Fang Xiang; when she laughs, she exudes a dangerously captivating aura.

Seemingly aware of her brother’s questionable glance, Fang Xiang glared fiercely at Fatty. Though single for many years, entirely focused on her career and enveloping herself in a hard shell, it does not mean she’s oblivious to emotions. Ultimately, she is a woman. She’s naturally sensitive to men’s gazes.

”Are you alright?” Fang Xiang’s eyes briefly wandered, addressing Fatty: ”That situation was truly perilous at the time.”

”Didn’t suffer any injuries,” Fatty chuckled foolishly, spreading his arms: ”You see... nothing’s missing where you can see....”

While saying this, this scoundrel hesitated, lowered his head, then sheepishly raised it again: ”Where you can’t see... want to take a look?”

”Fatty!” Fang Xiang was both amused and annoyed. She almost wanted to reach over and give this annoying Fatty a good smack. However, unexpectedly, she recalled the little kid calling her mom, causing turmoil in her heart, cheeks blushing faintly. With diminishing strength, she threatened, ”If you dare talk nonsense with me again, do you believe I’ll lead your bandit army back to Saleria.”
