Chapter 1309: Chapter 57: Lofty Mountains (Part 1)

Time passed by, second by second.

Wave after wave of warplanes roared toward the Northern Mountain Region. Returning aircraft continuously wove through the etheric layers enshrouded in aurora like silky smoke, maneuvering through the gaps between battleships to embrace their motherships. After refueling and mounting missiles, these recently returned planes set off again, heading toward the blue-white planet.

With the Jiepeng 2nd Armored Division being lured away, the biggest obstacle to the landing plan has been cleared!

The defense system of Shuangxi Bridge Town was rapidly forming. At this point, even if the Second Division still believed the main force was in the east, or if they realized something was amiss and turned back to attack Shuangxi Bridge Town, it would be too late!

The 13th Armored Division and the 51st Mechanized Infantry Division have already taken root at Shuangxi Bridge. Their presence, along with the landing of the three Fei Alliance Armored Divisions moving from the east to the west from the Flyns Agricultural District and Tangtai City, presents a pincher movement supporting each other, much like two chess pieces at the corner of a Go board. Any attempt to break through would be ruthlessly crushed!

The initiative of the war has firmly fallen into the hands of the Fei Alliance.

At this moment, the command post could finally clearly understand the entire trajectory of the Armored Camp’s enemy-luring battle. The answers to the various doubts and guesses in the mind during the long wait have at last been revealed.

From the images sent back by the warplanes, the Staff Department could easily draft combat reports.

The first contact, the second hunt, the escape, the ambush, the interception... each shockingly intense battle mark brought people into a grand and precipitous battle panorama. When tracing these marks and seeing the valley filled with the dense wreckage of mechas, people were rendered speechless.

No wonder the Second Armored Division would unhesitatingly conclude that the main force of Chuckna was in the east. No wonder they would direct the full strength of the division to pursue the Chuckna Armored Camp.

You should know, they lost an entire Special Forces Camp in that valley!

Although there was no footage of the battle at that time, the stacked layers of mecha wreckage in the valley photos alone made everyone feel an overwhelming sense of tragedy.

Those hundreds of entangled mechas, the ground and mountain walls riddled with holes from bombardments, and the scattered wreckage and bodies around—just looking at them made one’s heart tremble uncontrollably.

Those were Jiepeng’s elite armored forces, and who would have thought that an entire camp would be completely wiped out in an ambush with equal forces! Just that combat report alone, when it returns to the country, will drive countless people to madness.

But, after closely counting the number of mechas in photos, this battle resulted in the total annihilation of the Second Armored Division’s Blade Camp, while the Suicide Camp also paid a heavy price with over half casualties.

Of the original four companies of the Suicide Camp, more than two hundred mechas are still fleeing under the pursuit of the Second Division. Nearly three hundred mechas, tangled with their enemies, forever remained in the valley in that fierce ambush.

The reports shot by two war correspondents at the front line have already been sent back to the command post, undergoing review and necessary intelligence concealment. When everyone saw the footage of warriors unhesitatingly stepping out when selecting for the Suicide Camp, when seeing the reddened eyes of soldiers aboard the shaking Transport Mecha, and hearing the questions and answers between Felix and Su Fei, their hearts felt so heavy.

What worries everyone, even more, is that although the mission is complete, this Armored Camp is still tightly pursued by the Second Armored Division.

Now in the Northern Mountain Region north of the Flyns Agricultural District, countless Jiepeng Armored Divisions are split into several parts vigorously chasing the fleeing Suicide Camp, while fighting. Although reinforcements from warplanes strive to slow down the pursuit of the Jiepeng Armored Group, the powerful anti-air capabilities of the ground armored forces and the stretched coordination of air-based fleets limit the reinforcement efforts.

Almost all pilots requested the mission to support the Armored Camp, but only six squadrons per round were lucky enough to get the chance. Sixty warplanes, for an armored division with five to six thousand mechas, is clearly just a drop in the ocean. The only thing they could do is repeatedly charge towards the enemy with the most courageous posture.

As the battlefield situation progresses, the situation began to clarify. The three armored divisions closest to the Flyns Agricultural District have cut off the route north of Flyns Agricultural District, and the defense line of Shuangxi Bridge Town has also been constructed, welcoming the first wave of attacks from the Jiepeng 59th Armored Division. Though the battle was intense, the defensive line remains unbreakable.

In the other three landing points in the Northern Mountain Region, thirteen armored divisions have already penetrated the mountains, with two units having tracked the retreating enemy forces, launching a vast offensive, while another unit, according to the sand table, is also getting infinitely close to an enemy division amidst the rugged mountains.

Before achieving an all-around victory, what still pulls at the heartstrings is that fleeing Suicide Camp!

”Damn it!” Fatty pivoted forward with his left foot, smashing the hip of a Spirit Cat with a fierce knee strike from his right leg. Immediately, he destroyed the mecha cockpit with a powerful punch, and before the surrounding Jiepeng Mecha could converge, he kicked off, propelling into the forest like a hawk, leaping several times to escape the enemy in pursuit.

A dozen seconds later, Fatty caught up with the front troops.

Two hundred and twenty-three Red Mechas were leaping and running through the mountain forests like a herd of startled deer. Many of the mechas had visible scars, and several mechas lost their balance and tumbled to the ground, only to stagger back up and continue to run—after multiple fierce battles and escapes, many warriors were almost exhausted to the point of losing control of their mechas.

From the other side of the hillside, came a thunderous roar of mechas. The ground trembled under the heavy footfalls of mechas. The Jiepeng 2nd Armored Division pursued relentlessly like a pride of frenzied lions.

In the sky, a few Chuckna Fighters roared overhead. The violent explosion echoed from behind.

Fatty knew that these Allied pilots had already done their utmost to delay the enemy’s pursuit speed, making huge sacrifices. Along the way, at least twenty fighters had been shot down by the anti-air fire of the Jiepeng Armored Forces.

He glanced down at the mechanical computer screen on the control panel. The signal Pipi sent showed that two Jiepeng Armored Camps had already maneuvered to a parallel position from the left of this team. If they continued along this mountain range, once they turned west following the valley, they would crash into Jiepeng’s interception network.

Fatty took a water bottle, poured it over his head, and shook his head vigorously. His bloodshot eyes were calculating swiftly.

Three hours had passed since their engagement with the Second Armored Division. Following a fierce battle in the canyon at the 132nd position and this escape, the Suicide Camp had suffered over sixty percent casualties. At least the mission to lure the enemy was a great success. What needs to be considered now is how to get these two hundred plus Mechanical Warriors out alive under enemy pursuit!

The warriors around him, every one of them, was a true hero. From start to finish, not a single one flinched, not a single one complained. They simply followed him in silence, sacrificing in silence.

Thinking of the dozens of warriors who fell on the escape route from the canyon to here, Fatty gritted his teeth in hatred.

According to his temperament, being chased into such a frenzy, it was unavoidable to want to kill the opposing Commander by any means necessary. However, in this continuous fighting and fleeing, the enemy’s command Mecha always remained heavily protected. He and several Bandit Army War Gods attempted to lure and ambush them several times but could not get near the enemy’s command group.

The enemy Commander seemed to understand the threat of the White Mecha and always protected himself with extreme caution!

Any tactical strategy, any cunning plan, any commanding skills, were useless in this crushing pursuit.

This life is truly unbearable!

With only about two hundred men, being chased by an entire division! Trying to drive back the enemy with so few people is like daydreaming. Having arrived here, they cannot continue along this path. The enemy’s encircling troops to the west are advancing directly and already waiting ahead. But, heading towards the southeast mountains of Beiguan City, the terrain is much more perilous than here. Being caught by the pursuing enemy is only a matter of time!

Having fled to this point, there’s already a sense of being at a dead end!

The footsteps behind were getting closer and closer until the radar’s light points nearly touched. The flesh on Fatty’s face trembled as he gritted his teeth and pulled the control lever. The White Mecha suddenly halted, stomped, and engaged the auxiliary thruster abruptly. Simultaneously, the other nine Bandit Army War Gods also leaped backward. Ten Mechas shot back like cannonballs fired from a cannon.

White shadows flickered, and rapid metallic clangs sounded. The Jiepeng Mechas that had just rushed up the hill were in disarray. The ten White Mechas charged back and forth, punching and kicking. For a moment, they seemed like Heavenly Gods.

”Go! Right, up the mountain!” Fatty shouted desperately in the channel, urging the troops behind to run quickly. Meanwhile, he turned on the loudspeaker, cursing at the top of his voice: ”Back there, you dogs, how dare you call yourselves the strongest army in the land with this pathetic skill. Screw you, here’s four words for you: shameless beyond measure!”

As he said this, Fatty spat fiercely: ”Ptooey!”

The loudspeaker’s volume was at maximum, and the deafening sound echoed throughout the valley.

Hearing this voice, almost every Jiepeng Mechanic’s face changed color. The complete annihilation of Blade Camp was already an unacceptable defeat for everyone, but their opponent was now arrogantly insulting the entire Jiepeng Empire. That last disdainful spit was like a knife stabbing into everyone’s heart.

The Royal First Guard had never suffered such disgrace!

After a round of cursing, Fatty’s eyes darted around, feigning bravado: ”If you have what it takes, duel with me one-on-one!”

”Ran out of options?” a calm voice echoed from not far off: ”Once I catch you, I will give you that chance!”

”Fool, if you’ve got the guts, come catch me! Let me tell you, our main forces have already reached Shuangxi Bridge Town, hahaha, you’ve been fooled,” Fatty’s eyes spun faster, while his Mechanical Ion Light Blade danced a blue shadow among the enemies.

”I know I’ve been fooled,” that voice said with a trace of ferocity, ”I will answer for my mistake. But before that, no matter to the ends of the earth, I will kill you!”

With a kick that sent a Mecha flying, Fatty turned with tears streaming, these damn enemies won’t take the bait.
